The King of Staten Island (2020)
All around motivational and feel good movie!!
Summary:
First things first.. Coming into this movie I was expecting to see a comedy, but what this movie actually is. Is a whole lot more!
This movie is a story about a 25 year old man Scott, who lost his firefighter father in a fire when he was only 7 years old, and he never moved past it.
This turns Scott to becoming a loser who does nothing with his life and lives off of his mother Margie. All while his younger sister is going into college, and moving up in life.
This turns Scott incoherent to anything going on in his life. And eventually he attempts to tattoo a child..
For obvious reasons this makes the child's father angry. And he confronts Margie in an attempt to make her pay for his sons tattoo removal. In which he inadvertently crosses the line mentioning her deceased husband. And later on he comes back and apologizes to Margie, and introduces himself as Ray.
Margie and Ray begin to fall in love. But Scott isn't having it. As he remembers Ray as being the man for yelling at him.. But Ray visibly tries to be a father figure to Scott, even though he doesn't see it.. When Ray sees there's nothing he can do for Scott he visibly gets upset and gives up. Causing Scott to do anything he can do to break Margie and Ray up. In which he does leading Margie to kick both men out.
Leading Scott to eventually move into the Fire Station where Ray works as a last resort for somewhere to go. In which Ray declines, but the other firefighters give Scott a chance. As long as he does work around the station in exchange for shelter..
Pros:
This is a rare movie where I have absolutely no complaints. The acting was amazing, everybody fit their roles perfectly especially Ray (Bill Burr) and Scott (Pete Davidson), and the story was perfectly put together with a motivational outcome.
Grade: A+
Evil Bong 777 (2018)
If you're reading this I hope it's not too late...
What ruins the movie:
Too many unnecessary scenes... This film is 70 minutes long, and is a sequel to Evil Bong 666...
Rather than progress the story in any sort of way from our last film. This film opts to be a full 70 minute mess of a movie..
(which is very disappointing, considering the beginning of the film explains how this film was intended to be a sequel)
Instead we get 10 minutes (yes, 10 minutes!!) of a puppet show featuring a "puppet" version of Elvis Presley having sex with a stripper (This scene was very uncomfortable to watch, but so was the whole film)...
After this scene our protagonists go to a hotel.. This becomes the main point of our film... What happens in this timeframe you may wonder...
A dragged on timeframe of Rabbit attempting to hook up with a transgender female (hilarious... Only it's not), we get a timeframe spent of clown girl trying to have intercourse with Weedie (again.. the jokes here fail to land in any way.. but Weedie cheats on the clown girl with a hooker.. which is the only 10 seconds of comedy in the film), and Eebee gets Misty high and turns her into a goth (this is supposed to be funny!!)...
Finally in the last act of the movie Lucy Furr transports through the portal from sexy hell back to Earth, she chases our protagonists into a building and gets transported back... The End! (Not joking...)
This was disappointing as Lucy Furr, was one of the main reasons Evil Bong 666 was watchable in the first place... Unfortunately though she only gets approximately 10 minutes of screen time. Which gives us a film built off terrible characters, a terrible plot, terrible acting, terrible comedy, and a terrible ending...
What was good about this monstrosity:
Nothing... Absolutely nothing...
