The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022)
Written by Grade-Schoolers
I picked this to watch because I was looking for something light and fun so obviously I was not expecting a masterpiece. However, this has to be one of the crappiest shows I've watched.
The biggest question I have is regarding the target audience of the show because the storyline feels like it's written by an 11 year old. The characters and their dialogue are so immature and story beats are laughably bad. So if the show is intended for kids then why is it scattered with profanity and storylines of cringe-worthy adult friendships/relationships? Literally the only sex scene included is of two 40 year olds.
Also, I honestly can't tell if it's the acting that's terrible or if it's the writing. Every single scene is filled with cringe and incredible awkwardness.
There is so much more to break down but honestly it's just not worth the time. If you want an example of a bad show to learn from, then this is it.
Ai-naki mori de sakebe (2019)
Utter Trash
I gave this a try because I was interested in the real life story this was based on. However, I could not even make it pass the 30 minute mark. The acting and directions are absolutely laughable. Utter trash, do not waste your time.
Snowpiercer (2020)
And the worst acting of the year goes to......
I've not seen Daveed Diggs in anything else so I'm basing my judgement solely on his performance in this. He maintains a perpetual vacant, emotionless stare in this show no matter what is going on. Had someone with even an ounce of charisma been cast instead in this leading role, the show probably would be a heck lot better.
The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
Hard to review a film that barely has a plot...
Visually appealing with a good soundtrack but there's really nothing beyond that. The simple story has no stakes and the characters are so boring. I enjoy many of Wes Anderson's work but this is just a huge disappointment.
Rojst (2018)
Not worth your time.
Beautiful cinematography and decent acting but the writing is not good. A couple of story lines literally went nowhere and one of the main characters had close to no redeeming qualities. Really not worth the time considering that there are plenty of other titles on Netflix in this genre.
