El Candidato (2020)
Promising, but doesn't drliver
Although El Candidato has some good action and appears to be well-directed, it fails to reach its potential. It is sluggish and I found it hard to watch all of a single ~55 minute episode. The screenplay is good, and Mexico's long-running narco-terrorism problems, combined with government corruption provide a never ending source for this type of Prime Video or Netflix miniseries. James Purefoy and Erendirra Ibarra are excellent actors, but by the halfway mark (end of S1 E5) I'd had enough.
The Farm (2018)
Low-Budget Horror Flick Reasonably Enjoyable
The horror fiction genre is one that I enjoy, and this film had some good suspenseful and grisly scenes, but overall it reflected its low budget. Settings, acting, score were good, but the lead character was dumb and the plot and script were mediocre. As a screenplay the story also didn't quite make sense. Give it a go though!
