Real Steel (2011)
All time favourite
I remember watching this film when it first came out and I was a little girl. It instantly became my favourite. And now, I'm 16 and it's still in my top 5. Very entertaining and feel good. The character development of the father and son as they grow a strong bond over something they are both passionate about is incredible. The movie had me rooting for atom upon his first discovery. Great film, great acting directing and characters. A real steel 2 is possible and I can't wait for the next one. Absolutely love it!!

My heart is broken!!
Was sobbing so hard this movie, it says it's a comedy and I did laugh but I cried more. You have to watch this film, I seriously and whole heartedly recommend it. It was beautiful!!
Taineun Jiokida (2019)
Very interesting, thrilling and weird!!
Lee dong wook never disappoints with his acting, he absolutely killed his rule (quite literally) he completely immersed himself in his role as a good actor does. Everything about his characters was believable, his creepy smile, sinister eyes, eery stance and gaze. All the other actors did very well too. I was gripped and on the edge of my seat at times because of how intense some scenes were. For those saying they don't understand the protagonist and why he didn't just leave, please watch carefully the reason why the dentist was able to manipulate him so well is because he saw himself in him meaning the protagonist already had problems the dentist just set off the bomb in his head. He was a ticking time bomb waiting for a trigger. 100% recommend for a break from all those Rom com clichés.
Shaonian de ni (2019)
A very strong film about reality!
I have to say this movie really pulled on my heartstrings. I usually don't watch Chinese movies because the ones I've seen are quite censored because of their government. However, this showed an incredible story about a strong but rare bond between two people. I loved the way this film was directed and shot, it felt so real. The actors delivered very strong and believable performances. Some scenes were incredibly moving but I won't say what because I don't want to spoil anything. Some say they thought the last hour was disappointing. I completely disagree, I was hooked from the opening scene to the end credits. The depth of this story is really extraordinary. The bullying was extremely sad to see but I'm glad they showed the reality of it, it's not just hair-pulling and name calling, it can completely destroy a person. Glad they shed a light on what Asian students go through with the pressure of school. An absolutely beautiful, dark film. Definitely recommend!!
Hotto Gimikku: Gâru Mîtsu Bôi (2019)
Well...interesting
Have to say, the story is really weird and a bit difficult to keep up with. I'll probably read the manga to fill in some gaps but it was alright. I do like the somewhat character development from ryoki but that was kinda it. All the male leads were toxic but he was the only option I guess. The cinematography though, wow, that really blew me away, I'd watch the film purely for that. The acting is fairly mediocre. Nothing extravagant apart from the shots taken. Director did well! Apart from that don't expect anything more.
Gwimul (2021)
Insanely gripping!!
I cannot lie it's been a while since I've been this attached to a programme. The characters have so much depth to them it's almost like they are actually living the story, and the acting couldn't feel or look any more real, the emotion is completely raw, the actors did an absolutely amazing job, even the background characters looked like pros. The OST!!! The songs in the background add so much atmosphere and match the characters and story perfectly, the songs are great especially Choi baek ho's the night, his voice is incredible!! Some episodes were quite slow but the acting and characters get you through it and the build up is definitely worth it because when the emotions reach the climax everything just explodes in a great way. They also wrapped up the series very nicely. I also love how the director decided to do certain shots, at some points it felt like I was right there and I was looking right at the characters, some beautiful shots taken too. Although this is a fairly male dominated series, the female characters had quite high ranks and were very strong minded and weren't damsels in distress, apart from the female victims, which is nice to see. It kept me guessing a lot as to who the monster truly was, maybe there was more than one? Guimul is the original Korean title for this and it means monster, matches well to the storyline obviously, Beyond evil is also a pretty good title for it. Highly, highly HIGHLY recommend because it's enticing and insanely gripping!! Wow I could literally go on and on about how this is a masterpiece, definitely won't forget this!!
Wrath of Man (2021)
Mediocre
I was alright, nothing more nothing less. I don't really watch American movies too much anymore cause they're not as good anymore but I thought I'd watch this one. There was a few plot holes and the storyline was quite predictable. The main actors did decent but all the other actors were poor, and the lines and script was quite bad too. There wasn't really much to the characters and we don't really learn a lot about them or their past, background etc so I couldn't really get gripped into the characters of the film. The main actor who plays "H" had the same face throughout 90% of the film too. The way some of them delivered some of their lines made it really hard to take it serious. Also, the film jumps around a bit so it's difficult to keep up or understand parts. Quite a disappointment tbh! Also why is there like no security, no police cars or unmarked cars following them, just them 2 and millions of dollars...when they're moving so much money?? Apart from that, the positives of the film are: decent pacing, it wasn't a boring film, the actions scenes were well executed and some of the shots taken/ cinematography was quite nice.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Ridiculous
Don't even know what to say tbh. Don't waste your time!!
Nagwonui bam (2020)
Strong film!!
This was quite a strong film, especially the ending. If you don't like blood then this ain't the one for you but I really enjoyed it. I liked how at the end it was the woman who took them all out rather than it being a cliché invincible man who kills all the bad guys. The acting was good, story was good, writing was good execution was good. The reason why I didn't give it a 10 was because I feel like some people would see certain parts as slow. I personally didn't find it excruciatingly slow as I was quite invested in the movie and the characters. Definitely worth the watch!!
Move to Heaven (2021)
Absolutely beautiful!!
The story telling and writing in this programme is unbelievably amazing and realistic. The characters are fantastically written and acted out beautifully by the actors. I love this programme! I don't wanna give much away but even if you're not into Korean programmes it's the kind of programme you have to watch at least once in your life time!! I cried EVERY single episode as the characters were so easy to get attached too. Shout out to the actor who played the guy with alsperger's syndrome, he did a great job! The actor for the uncle did great too! All the actors did! I'm so glad I watched this, it was truly beautiful! I won't be able to get over this for weeks.
Nabillera (2021)
Heartfelt and very heartwarming!!
A beautiful story told in a beautiful way. I really enjoyed watching this programming regardless of my lack of interest in ballet. I thought I wouldn't enjoy it since ballet doesn't pique my interest. The acting was good, the cinematography was good, the cast was good and the directing was good. Everything was good!! Some parts were quite emotional and very well executed!!
Agui kkot (2020)
One of the best!!
Out of every single programme I've watched not only Korean but other countries too, this is one of the best. The performances these actors and actresses gave were spectacular and gripping, they felt so real. A seriously emotional ride that kept me on the edge of my seat in certain episodes. You will absolutely love this drama and definitely won't regret watching it. The plot twists are perfect too.
Ginny & Georgia (2021)
Not worth a 10
It's worth a watch not a ten. Ginny's character is terrible, she's extremely rude to her friends and her family. Giving this a ten I think is quite extreme. There's a few plot holes too. I'm glad the show touches on racism not just against black people but also Asian people and some of the problems they face when they are seen as more fortunate than black people. Some parts were a little weird to watch 😬😂 but it was entertaining. Some parts were good some were bad. I would still watch season 2 tho. It's decent.
Minari (2020)
Great but the ending....
The ending falls a bit flat for me, I feel like they could've done more for the ending. However I still enjoyed the movie. It was funny sad and heartbreaking all at the same time. It's not something I'd watch more than once tho but I'm still glad I watched it!! The performances these actors and actresses gave were absolutely spectacular, I could really feel the emotion through such a tiny screen.
World War Z (2013)
Empty!!
This movie felt very empty for me. I watched the whole thing with a straight, no scariness, no suspense, no character development just zombies to me and decent acting. There's no depth when it comes to the characters so you're not attached or upset or tense when one of the characters is about to die. The cgi is impressive but doesn't feel real so there's not much effect. Nothing really stands out about this movie compare to other zombie movies. It's the same cliché plot where one man saves the world from disaster and we know he won't die cause he's the hero. Could've been way better but falls flat for me. I don't know how on earth this got 7/10. It should be 5 at most.
Busanhaeng (2016)
Better than world war Z!
This deserves a way higher rating the world war z. Why you might ask? WWZ is extremely cliché we don't feel bad for any of the characters because there's nothing attaching us to them. You know exactly what's gonna happen as soon as you see the zombies. The acting was good no problem there obviously but it's not something I'd watch again too predictable. Train to busan on the other hand is a unique zombie movie. It's slightly more realistic too when it comes to scenarios. Rather than being in an open area and being able to fly around everywhere in a helicopter during an apocalypse 🙄 they're confined and trapped in a realistic place.... a train. The fact that they used mostly real zombies for this movie is a great idea as it adds to the realism and scariness of them. When you put a bunch of cgi for a zombie you know it's fake and therefore it doesn't have much effect. The acting in train to busan was superb, especially from the father of the young girl and the young girl herself. Certain scenes had me balling my eyes out which I rarely do in zombie movies because all they focus on is the zombies and the main character becoming a hero and saving everyone. It was very well done considering they had a limited set. I absolutely loved it.
Gi-eok-ui bam (2017)
The perfect thriller to me!
For me this was the perfect thriller, I've grown to love some Korean films better than American ones. The twist was unique and I've never seen this kind of twist before which was refreshing as most thrillers follow cliché endings and plots. I thought the execution was good enough for me to think "how the hell did that happen," or "Wow I really wasn't expecting that" I was completely gripped because I liked how they added one cliché during the first half and I was like "oh here we go" but then turned that into a completely downwards spiral in a good way. The acting was good, the cinematography was good, the plot was good. Something to be aware of tho, many Korean phrases don't have direct English translations, I know this since I'm learning Korean. So don't blame the filmmakers or writers for not making things clear when they probably did in their own language. Some people have said some explanations were sloppy but I understood it perfectly, was able to keep up with the pace of the film, and loved it. You won't regret watching this movie. One of my favourite movies ever!
Pacific Rim (2013)
INCREDIBLE!!
I absolutely love this movie. Ive watched it over 5 times. Love the action, the actors, storyline and pace. Only thing that ruined it was the sequel. You won't regret watching this movie, it had me gripped right from the start. The cgi and editing for this was very smooth too. I don't wanna spoil anything so just watch it. It will be fun especially for slightly younger audiences.
Concrete Cowboy (2020)
Unexpectedly brilliant!!
I like horses but never really liked cowboy films. I absolutely love this is and the all black cast, they gave a brilliant performance. The acting was spectacular and cinematography and camera angles were perfect. I admit some parts felt a little long but once I got into it I was completely hooked. They did a great job with this film and it deserves a much higher rating than what it has. I really wish more ethnic minorities had better roles in Hollywood, I really do because a lot of them are talented and this movie proves that. The self growth and character development is great and I love the storyline. I won't spoil anything but I think it's worth a watch.
Riverdale (2017)
Unsatisfactory
I can't stand the script, the storyline doesn't even make sense. Why is it a musical all of a sudden? What the hell is the director doing?
Vincenzo (2021)
Hooked all the way!!
If the comedy isn't for you then fair enough. A comedy will never favour because not everyone has the same humour. However I personally think this show has a perfect balance of thriller, action, comedy and suspense. Those who judge shows after watching 1 episode I think are rather stupid. Obviously you're not gonna fully grasp the characters in episode 1/20...that's why there's more episodes. The acting is great, the characters are great, the cinematography is great, some parts you're not supposed to take seriously because they're for comedic purposes. I love the character development too it's amazing. I also love the storyline and the idea of a Korean - Italian mafia...it's quite interesting. I don't wanna give away too much but at least watch til ep 3-4 til you judge. It's definitely worth watching. I like how the romance between the two leads isn't super cliché and isn't the main focus either but it's still there, it's more of a slow burn romance between them. The action scenes are well shot and quite realistic too. Omg I could go on and on about this show I love it so much. Really looking forward to the ending I just finished episode 10 and I couldn't not be anymore eager.
