Banshee (2013)
such an addicting show!
Banshee was such an addicting ride, from start to finish. Of course, the main highlight was the CRAZY BRUTAL ACTION, which was SO WELL DONE. Really made you feel the damage. But man, there are also great performances and great characters in here. Antony Starr's "Lucas Hood" was the most notable one, but everyone else here acted their hearts out. And really, these characters feel extremely human, which I love.
This has gotta be one of my favorite shows, and glad I checked it out!
Personally, s3>s2>s1>>>> s4, even though s4 was a good farewell, just felt like there's alot going on and meandered a bit, but the series ending was great and sincere! So as long as you start strong and end strong, that's a win!
Psych (2006)
Just good fun!
After spending so much time on this show, I had a fun journey with it! Sure, it had its problems... but it never failed to engage me. Shawn and Gus's bromance is the best I've seen on TV... or it's really close. Even though both of them, frustrated me at times. I mean, I got pretty frustrated with all the characters at points. But Henry Spencer was the one who grew on me the most, and Woody was also really good. Especially when it came to comedy, Woody always gave me a laugh. Now for Jules and Carlton, they are a great duo, and a good balance for Shawn and Gus. Also I've heard the opinion that the show gets worse the later the show goes, but I believe the show got better, and finally got its groove in by season 5. And had a really good series ending.
Overall, just a great time I had with the show, and even though I know this isn't the end for this universe, because of the movies (I need to watch), I'm glad I took a chance, and spent time in it.
Superman & Lois: Waiting for Superman (2022)
A good finale for a hit or miss season
Speaking of the arrowverse connection (or lack of it) it doesn't affect how I view the show. This show always felt standalone to me.
Now this season really hit its peak with Bizzaro, but once he died, the season went downhill, especially with Ally as the main villain, which she was boring. Also I was frustrated that superman got defeated very easily in some scenes, even though he's dubbed "the worlds strongest being." But I'm glad that the last 2 episodes really ended off the season strong, and it really got superman for me, and showed the reason why I love this iteration of superman. Also seeing Superman go beserk in this episode was so satisfying...
Now I just hope season 3 is stronger than this season!
Superman & Lois: Worlds War Bizarre (2022)
pretty sweet episode!
I'm glad that clark is getting much more of the focus here, and shows what it means to embody superman. There's one moment i really love. Sure, there's some goofy stupid moments, but i would say this is one of the better episodes of this season.
Also the ending was pretty cool.
Moon Knight (2022)
not what i expected
7.5/10
PROS:
Oscar Issac carried so hard. Other performances were superb too. Explored Marc Spector and Steven Grant really well. He's a top-tier character in the mcu.
I liked how they kept reality ambiguous
It had some violence - wished it was explored more
The Mental health aspect was VERY interesting
For the most part, it took itself very seriously and I appreciate that.
THE SCORE goes hard!
CONS:
The action was disappointing and inconsistent. Some scenes were great, and others, felt cookie-cutter.
The Finale felt disappointingly weightless, and jarring, compared to the rest of the episodes.
The CGI was so inconsistent
Arthur Harrow doesn't get much exploration, falls flat everytime he's in egypt
The Egyptian stuff wasn't as interesting as the mental asylum stuff.
The Batman (2022)
Truly a great Comic Book film (9.5/10)
WOW, it's top-tier batman and a top-tier superhero movie.
Let's start off with the nitpicks. Pattinson's voice was abit too whispery, to a point where I couldn't understand him at times. The narration at the end felt kinda unnecessary. Wished we had more alfred, riddler, and penguin throughout the runtime.
PROS: The fight scenes were clear and well-choreographed. None on the level of the BvS warehouse fight, but it got the job done.
Most of the characters feel fleshed out.
Selina and Riddler stand out. - Paul Dano was insane!
Batman/Bruce have a great arc about vengeance and turning it into justice and hope. And Pattinson conveys that perfectly. Love all the detective stuff. Batman and Selina work well, with good chemistry, - wished we had more moments with them.
Jeffrey Wright and John Turturro were good in their roles.
This movie is so smartly woven.
ALSO THE SOUNDTRACK IS FIRE! And so is the Batmobile - wished we had more of it.
NEED TO REWATCH - ASAP.
Superman & Lois: Tried and True (2022)
Sibling rivalry
I really liked this episode. Although I wished there was more Bizzaro. But I really liked his scene in the beginning. And I love the parallels from the bizzaro world, into this one. The Action has gotten better this season too! And the family drama doesn't feel too heavy, and it's good.
Peacemaker (2022)
what a surprise
In total honesty, the first 3 episodes weren't too impressive. It leaned more with the humor than the emotion, and I didn't find the humor that funny. But after episode 3, it leans more into the emotion and heart, which is great. And the humor landed! Then that's when everything started clicking, and I started loving this show. It also has this sincerity to it, which at times, could be heartbreaking. The finale wraps it as well as it can. And the action could be brutal, yet fantastic! Such a surprise, and a reason I don't doubt James Gunn.
Superman & Lois: The Thing in the Mines (2022)
A step up this season
I feel like Tyler Hoechlin has gotten better this season. Bitsie is still my favorite live action Lois Lane, and Jon and Jordan are good. I love John Henry Irons. And I dig the twist. I also like how they make the most out of their budget, with their CGI.
Superman & Lois: What Lies Beneath (2022)
solid start for season 2, but nothing mindblowing
I like this premiere, but not in love with it. The VFX and Visuals are on par with season 1 (still very great), and it keeps the same sincerity as well.
Although one thing I cringed at is when they say that the twins are 15 years old, even though they look far older... just a nitpick, but it sticks with me.
And the classic angsty teen thing is still there, but it's understandable, for the character.
I like the tease at the end, cuz it could lead to multiple possibilities.
Good start, but I truly hope that the season has higher highs than season 1.
Superman & Lois: Last Sons of Krypton (2021)
a solid way to end the season
It's a really heartwarming, and cool finale to end this season on. This show really made me appreciate and love superman and clark kent. And the effects look really nice in this episode. Although i wish that at the end teased a new threat for season 2. Sure some things get wrapped up abit too quickly for my liking, but this still felt very sincere to clark and lois's story and it's a good way to go out.
Superman & Lois: Fail Safe (2021)
Not their strongest episode, but still solid
I would say this is more of the aftermath and consequences from the last few episodes, which makes sense cuz the last few episodes were very eventful. This is essentially the breather before the last two episodes.
Pros: Everyone is experiencing the consequences, which is great.
-Special effects are really good here.
-General Lane's growth as a character
- Cinematography is stunning, especially the Farm shots
And I would say that the dialogue feels really stilted in this episode, especially with the teenagers.
I wished we got more John Henry Irons in this episode Overall: 7.5/10.
Invincible (2021)
Best superhero content of 2021... so far... (8.9/10)
This show really cared about characters that I've never heard about before, and made me want to read a comic I've never heard of. That's how much I enjoyed this show.
There's so much to like in this first season. Great, brutal action (since the animation shines with it), great and complex characters, great world-building and nice heart to it all.
Now there were things that bugged me, like some characters felt one note and inconsistent (Amber and William)
And the action can be pretty clunky at times, especially during episode 4.
However overall, I loved this first season, but I hope the animation improves! (8.9/10)
Superman & Lois (2021)
season 1 review, and i'm surprised how much i love this season (8.5/10)
First off, there's alot to love about this show!
Tyler Hoechlin is great here, as Superman, but he shines as Clark Kent. So is Bitsie Tulloch as Lois Lane, where she is shining! And they made me care about this relationship, and it isn't one-sided, it's a partnership. Great work from the leads. Now onto the kids, Jordan Kent has evolved alot. However, Jon Kent was great and i wish he got more to do, and he's a bit more likable than Jordan (although both screw up a ton). But their whole family dynamic is healthier, which helps prevent from the tropey drama. This drama seems alot more mature. And I'm glad that this show takes itself abit seriously, but I'm also glad that there's some levity to this show, so it isn't grim. It's a mature, intimate family drama. (I'd even say that the Cushing family drama is a bit of a slow burn, but there's purpose to it) and Kyle Cushing has the biggest change from the begining to the end.
ALSO THE VISUALS ARE GREAT! There are alot of farm shots that are gorgeous! I loved those shots!
Now onto the antagonists, they are expanded upon each episode, and can be threats to Superman. But their resentment seemed reasonable, and understandable, so they're a bit interesting. They aren't overly sympathetic, yet aren't overly maniacal or unreasonable. And i like the twists and turns with them.
However, there's stuff that bugged me...
The cgi was a bit inconsistent, like in some moments, they looked solid to good, but in other times, you could tell it was cgi, and it took you out of the moment. And also, I wished the action was more brutal (obviously not spewing blood all over the place and all that) but I want to see the damage from the action, and how it affected the characters.
And the action is serviceable, but it could be better choreographed, even with the larger budget. Hopefully the budget is amped up abit, so they can do better action.
Either than that, i wished that more people watched this show especially superman fans, cuz i loved it. (8.5/10)
Superman & Lois: A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events (2021)
Great way to go on break!
I've really grown to love this show. Never thought I would say this for a CW show... The flashbacks actually had purpose, and a sense of mystery... which furthers the plot. And hey, Kyle admits he was wrong, and Jordan gets the girl, so nice way to close those plot points. And Morgan Edge has actually grown to be a complex character.
Although the CGI in this episode was a clunky at times, even though the visuals at the beginning were gorgeous.
So overall, great episode (9.3/10)
PS: I hope the show can use this break to clean up on the CGI, to reach the quality of the first 3 episodes... in CGI.
Superman & Lois: O Mother, Where Art Thou? (2021)
Could've been the season finale with a few tweaks
I felt like this could've been a season finale, with a few tweaks or at least apart of a season finale 2 parter... but it still worked. Personally, i thought the pacing was off, but it helped with the character moments. And it gave a reason for Sarah Cushing to be there. Another positive was Superman, with Tyler Hoechlin giving an impressive performance, and Jonathan being the chad he is!
Another negative was the effects were a bit off, but that's being nitpicky. I also wished that they pulled from the comics for morgan edge's character, but overall, good episode (8.7/10)
PS: I felt that the previous episode was the better episode, but this was still a good follow up!
Stargirl: Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E. Part Two (2020)
Fun, campy superhero story... with potential
I think the finale was actually handled well, and closed some storylines very well. And I was surprised for the amount of blood there was in this lighthearted show. But it was pretty cool.
I think this show is the definition of a show that's decent, so a 6.5-7/10 for the entire season... but it does have potential, especially if they tighten up on the CGI and the dialogue.
Superman & Lois: Loyal Subjekts (2021)
The best episode so far...
With having seen all the episodes in this season so far, they've all been solid... but this takes it to another level! They balance the family drama and dynamics super well in this. I also dug the tension in the latter half of it. And I'd say the few standouts were General Lane and Kyle Cushing, both having layers under their antagonistic exterior. Especially General Lane, who just wants to do his job, by keeping the world safe, but also wants to right his wrongs, especially with Lois! And that twist at the end, WOOO!
Overall, great episode = (9.5/10)
