Say "I love you" (2012–2013)

Meh for a lot of reasons.
31 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm trying to take into account that these are high schoolers so they do get some points for some of the cringy moments and poor communication/ miscommunications.

I also appreciate that they have realistic depictions of bullying. And that the characters do engage in and talk about sex. Anime often skips over that anymore, but the reality is teenagers are often sex driven and spend a lot of time thinking and talking about it.

My issue, which honestly isn't really an issue, is that there are so many moments where Mei was awesome, had a backbone, wasn't afraid to stand up for herself.... Until she gets into a relationship. And suddenly she's push over, never gets angry at her boyfriends actions, always feels sorry for him rather than for herself, and let's him get away with things she would not be able to. That was so freaking annoying to watch. The male lead has some serious jealously issues for a guy who had no issue lying to his girlfriend about spending time alone at another girls house and causing rumors to spread. But when the one girl spreads false rumors with no actual basis about Mei, he gets jealous and confronts her and the second male lead.

The second male lead is superior to the main male lead. I will stand by that forever. He proved it time and time again during each episode. Everything her said to the main male lead during their argument/fight was true. And he was still man enough to apologize and try to make up with him.

Overall, it wasn't a bad show. I'm mostly going to chalk it up to it being written in the early 2000's when this was the norm. I mean does anyone remember the first twilight? Cringe. It's still adorable. And still has some good moments.

Absolutely beautiful!

The music was breathtaking. Particularly the song they preform for the national qualifiers, it gave me goosebumps and brought me to tears. I've never heard the koto before but this show made me fall in love with its sound. The anime itself was beautifully colored, well written, I really loved the dub actors, all around it was well worth the watch. I really wish they had continued with the manga. But you know how it goes, still so worth watching though!

Dark & Twisty
6 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This anime is a psychological roller coaster in some of the best ways possible! Zack is a clear cut example of a sociopath. His backstory clearly illuminates this. Whereas Rachel's backstory shows more to do with the consequences of abuse, neglect, and isolation. Her desperation to have some higher being provide her a clear cut path, and forgive her of the sins she does regret, and about a million other things makes her a deeply interesting and troubling main character. Especially because at the start of the anime she's almost depicted as being the heroine, but as you continue you find that she's not necessarily the perfect heroine you would think.

I love all the twists and turns of this storyline. I like that it didn't hold back in terms of abuse, murder, and other darker themes. It didn't glamorize them, but it also didn't make them entirely hopeless either. I'm not sure I'm wording that right. Either way, it brought more depth out of these characters and their choices. It made it very difficult to view them in black and white.

Also, the English dub actor for Zack, or Issac, did a phenomenal job. His laughter often gave me chills! And his comedic timing had me laughing out loud at some parts which is so insane given the storyline.

Is this the most perfect anime ever? No. Was it the best one ever written, voiced, or created? No. But it is still very good, at times it made me think about things differently than I would have. Which I like. It was very conflicting rooting for these characters. And that speaks for itself to how good the storyline is. I think it is well worth the watch especially because it is only 16 episodes and it does have an ending. Not all animes do. The ending isn't perfect, and I feel like it purposely doesn't leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. But it didn't take away from my love of the show. So that's a good thing.

Give it a chance.

So not worth the hype
27 April 2022
This was a waste of almost two hours.

The story starts out with a promising storyline, then strays so far from it.

Honestly the entire second part from Keane's perspective was very unnecessary. It would have been more exciting to see Akira's perspective.

Don't bother watching.

Breathtaking

I really enjoyed this anime! It handled a lot Of very difficult subjects with a sense of grace and sensitivity. The entire show takes you on journey to understanding just how precious life is. And how the things we say and do have a huge impact on others, even if it seems minimal to ourselves. Overall this anime was just breathtakingly beautiful! I highly recommend this! I had to watch it in a day.

From a su*cide attempt survivor; if you love someone that is in pain... hold them. Naho mentions at one point that she was always scared to touch Kakeru because she was afraid he was fragile and she would break him. People in that much pain are fragile, and most of us just want someone to hold us and help us figure out how to make the pieces fit again. Even when we deny it. Sometimes it's just really nice to be held and supported. Remember that.

Please remember to mindful of your mental health when watching a series like this. Yes, it tells us that we should live! But it can still be triggering, so just be careful.

Let's Bring it Back!
14 April 2022
So! I love this show, I have since I was a kid! When they first did this anime they manga wasn't finished. And honestly they did it before it's time. With way they can create anime now, now is the time to do this story justice! And with them just finishing up fire force, it's definitely the time!

It's a must watch either way.

I'm a hopeless romantic so my heart will always crave maka and soul ending up together but the creator has said before that's not how he sees it and it's not his style. So I digress. Still so worth the watch!

I live for the high school cringe this anime brought. It felt like being in high school all over again. This was light, funny, and nostalgic. I really loved it! Which they had made more!

Give it a chance
8 April 2022
I have read so many mixed reviews about this anime. I could list the things I hate about it and just judge it based on that but it had enough things I liked to keep me watching.

And I actually really enjoyed watching the anime, and it's one of the few that comes to a decent enough of conclusion. I actually like the ending. I think it was worth the watch. But my taste isn't everyone's.

It is worth watching
13 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My rating might seem low despite my deep love and admiration for this storyline. I really do love this series. But there are a few things I do not like about it.

The main one being that every single season they bring in another girl to add this love triangle aspect to Kirito and Asuna's love story. The author has always stated that Kritio's true love is Asuna. And a Reddit board I saw talked about how the author had to bring in that aspect because it was demanded of him by the people who would produce the story. I do not know the truth to that statement but it seems to make enough sense. Either way, true or not, every single one of the storylines could've done without the love triangle aspect. The story would have been ten times better if it focused on its main love story and their adventures together. It really brought down the storyline at some points. That is why I gave it an 8 rating. The story should be true to the authors vision of his characters. It his is story after all, and the fans were not complaining about it only being a love story for Kirito and Asuna.

That aside, the storyline is very good. Eugeo's storyline has been one of my favorite so far. And the family dynamic between Kirito, Asuna, and Yuui, and that the fact that they never stopped trying to spend time with, see, or create new ways to interact with their daughter. It was beautiful.

I also think having a storyline that brings life and humanity to AI is something that could be crucial to the future. If we are going to give these beings human functions and emotions, then we also have to give them rights. We are not god and we should not be trying to play god.

I love Kirito's fighting spirit. The fact that he would do anything to protect the ones he loves. I love Asuna's strength and bravery. They were very well written characters.

The show, as well as the movies, are well worth the watch.

Not bad
10 March 2022
I was happy to see Ausuna and Kirito being more loving and flirty again. I have missed it. Season 2 they just seems more like friends anything. Honestly after season 1 they seem to be more friends then dating. I also like that they mention their marriage more! Wish the show did that haha!

So sad we won't be getting more
9 March 2022
This is one of the few animes that isn't based off a manga series, which is awesome, but also sad. Because that means we will not have anymore for the storyline. I am so sad they did not renew this show. I absolutely loved this show! So worth the watch! And season one doesn't end on a pesky cliffhanger so it's something we can all enjoy even if we don't get more.

I don't care what the critics say or the other reviews this was breathtaking. And Tessa's speech at the end was beautiful and something we all need to come to realize.

The color work on this movie was gorgeous. The play out of their love story was so wonderful. And so genuine.

Both leading actors did a phenomenal job!

It's good
13 February 2022
So, this anime is good. I haven't read the Manga yet so I can't attest to how much it follows it. But I did really enjoy the show and I really do hope they continue with the show. I would love to see the rest of Hina and Lichts story. See them take on Alicia. And I would love to see Pele and Lynn together even though that probably won't happen. Same with Nana and Jail. Even if they don't go on, first season ends on a good enough note that you can feel justified in watching even if they never continue.

Still hating
11 February 2022
I still really hate the fact that they will often adapt manga stories into a season or two of an anime to promote their manga. I will read the manga and watch the show. FINISH THE ANIME. I NEED MORE OBI. Seriously. I waited almost ten years for a proper fruits basket adaptation. Let's get this going too. It's still recent enough, pick up where you left off. PLEASE.

What I hate
11 February 2022
I really hate that they will adapt so many mangas into a one or two season anime just to promote the manga. I will read the manga as well. FINISH THE TV SHOWS. I had to wait like ten years to finally get a proper adaptation of Fruits Basket. It's time to do the same with maid Sama. Let's make it happen people. This is still one of my favorite cheesy romance storylines ever.

This was truly one of the best storylines I have ever witnessed. Truly. The plot, the characters, everything. I was hooked. I watched it in an entire night. All in one go. I highly recommend this to everyone, not just anime lovers. This story was just breathtaking.

THANK YOU
29 January 2022
Seriously, thank you for re-creating this manga into an anime! I needed this! The 2001 version did not do the story justice, nor did it tell the complete story. And this did. In the most heartbreaking ways possible. I was obsessed and I waited for all three seasons to be out so I could binge it in one go. And I was no disappointed at all.

This is the only manga series I've read and one of the few anime I have watched. It's not typically my reading or watching style. But this story has always stuck with me. Since I first got my hands on it in middle school. This story has never left me. It's is a story for everyone. I promise.

Still Love
31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's been a hot minute since this movie came out, but after seeing far from home my roommates and I decided to go through all the MCU movies again, and mix in the new shows on Disney.

I have to say, Andrew Garfield is a phenomenal spider man. He has so much charisma, and it so fun to watch. He is a very underrated spider-man. He's not my favorite Peter Parker, but you can't tell me he's a bad spider-man. I loved this movie. I still do. And hun and Emma's chemistry amplified my love for their pairing. I like Emma's Gwen Stacy more than I ever liked Mary-Jane in Migiures version.

Much love and respect for the cast in this version, very sad we didn't get to see more of Andrew's in his own series but I'm still not mad at where it led us.
