People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan (2021)
Not as funny as the T.V. show.
Although I quite enjoyed the movie, I have found the TV series to e more amusing than the actual film. I think that someone who hasn't watched the series would find this funny, as for a good entry to the TV show.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
A different movie for Disney.
I found this movie to be more surprising than I had imagined as this wasn't a live action movie the studio usually make because i believe this was based on the 'Jungle Cruise' ride in Disney world. Although for this, the movie was pleasantly surprising. I enjoyed the fact that it was a little like a Pirates of the Caribbean movies, its adventurous and has great actors, what more can I say?
Old (2021)
Good thriller.
This is another great thriller for M. Night Shyamalan. He keeps the themes of tension and adrenaline all throughout the movie. The atmosphere is extremely eerie and mysterious, Shyamalan succeeds to keep the entire movie exciting and can be compared to other great psychological thrillers over time. One thing I may add is the ending was a bit dull in my opinion, it would've been more thrilling to see something more shocking as more thank just the characters turning the vacation place over to the authorities.
Scrooged (1988)
GCSE question: How is scrooge presented as unlikeable in 'a Christmas carol'?
Scrooge is presented as unlikable, by Dickens showing that he is selfish and entitled in the novella when the author submits the quote " secret self- contained, and solitary as an oyster". The use of a simile in this quotation makes the reader think about Scrooge's repelling personality. This demonstrates that Dicken's wants the reader to believe that Scrooge is a bad person. The effect of the word "oyster" suggests that he keeps to himself and is represented as egocentric as an oyster metaphorically does, when the author directly uses the simile to compare Scrooge to. This is significant a typically in the Victorian Era wealthy business men such as scrooge were portrayed as being more selfish than the other classes.
Cruella (2021)
Another Villain origin story
'Cruella' is about how the infamous Cruella De Vil allegedly got stared as to later try to strip the skin of little puppy Dalmatians.
There are some of Disney villain origin films that put the story into the villains perspective as to say that their wrongdoings are not entirely their fault. Now I'm not complaining as these films are always beautifully made and artistically styled, but i cannot stop and not wonder how on earth this movie makes up for the original Cruella to try to make coats out of puppies but ok, good film.
Black Widow (2021)
AMAZING!!!!
This movie is a great insight into the early life of Natasha Romanov before the Avengers, this shows what happend in the red room and how she escaped to join the Avengers and Sheild. We also have the aswer to what Loki meant in The Avengers when he said Sao Paulo Dreykovs's daughter Barton told me everything.
You can also learn a great deal of Russian swear words during thsi movie.
But one thing i would like to adress from this movie is when Natasha has to break her nose at the end to sever the olfactory nerve, she just keeps talking to Dreykov then wack her face on the table to break her nos, then beats him up, 2 seconds later she tracks down all the widows in the world and white its downloading she wipes away the blood from her nose and cracks it back like its nothing. This really confused me.
Also all her hairstyles were amazing in the movie, hers and the other widows and Yelena.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Chess.
Anya- Taylor Joy is truly a great time to watch on t.v. There are certain actors/actresses that are just born to paly a varient of a genius on screen. For example Jim Parsons for his character Sheldon Cooper in the 'Big Bang Theory', there are just certain people who can pull of such a complex character. I absolutely adore people who can do this which is why i love 'The Queens Gambit' and also compatible love for chess.
I love the way this whole series is played out ,as a big reveal for the Day Elizabeth finally beats the Russian chess player Vasily Borgov. There are also a lot of things to learn from this series. For example my dad had confused the king and queen, which was which, constantly ever since he taught me how to paly, but when he saw the show he finally convinced him he had made a mistake.
Glass (2019)
Great End.
In 2000 when the masterpiece 'Unbreakable' was made the director, M. Night Shyamalan wasn't as popular as he is now, including his movies. Meaning that nobody really were into those kind of movies as they were, incidentally, based on the idea of superhereos. Only did the topic gain popularity around 2015- 2016 as this was the time that Marvel and DC movies grew into the lime light. 2016 was when we realised we could bring back the series in 'Split'. A few years later 2019 we come to the movie that ends the trilogy 'Glass'.
I believe that this movie is the corrct way to end this, Samuel L. Jackson's charcter Mr. Glass, wanted to prove that superheroes truly exist, even if there were special people designed to stop them. The aim of the plan was to remove trace of all superhero species, for them to not to be superior to others. Were as Mr. Glass's plan was cleverly set up to dodge every bullet they throw at him, but i guess you'll just have to watch the movie.
P. S. Make sure you watch Split and Unbreakable before wating this otherwise you won't get it at all.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
I don't wanna say it's bad but...
I am a giant fan of the MCU and this is the first of their movies and shows i haven't liked since 'Black Panther'. It's all so very political and dramatic, instead of this i could've just watched Megan Markle with Oprah Winfrey six times and that would've been more entertaining then this.
So disappointing for the MCU. 🤔
