One of Us Is Lying (2021)
The books are always better
If I was watching this without have read the books, then I know I would be giving this a higher rating. But, because I have read them, it's hard to move past the major changes. One of the main ones being the Maeve and Janae (before anyone jumps on me, no I'm not against lesbians) I just feel as though it's tried very hard to fit all the right standards of modern society, without realising that most of the second book is about Maeve and Luis. Amongst this claim, there are others that follow in regard to in diverting away from the original book. I will always choose the book first, but for what it's worth, the show is very enjoyable and I hope to see it somehow come back round to the books more and also for it to be able to get a second season.
He's All That (2021)
I'm lost for words
I honestly came into this thinking I'd write a long review of how unbearable it was but I'm left speechless as to what I just watched. Granted, I didn't have high expectations going into it but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. The best part of the entire thing was the ending with Matthew Lillard and Rachel Leigh Cook when there was slight references to the superior and iconic original apart from the god awful remix of the song 'Kiss Me'. If anyone hasn't seen that one, I suggest watching it and blocking out any memory of this film ever existing. There are many things to note about this movie but to cut it short, it's another cringey tween Netflix movie. I wasn't planning on watching this film as I could tell from the trailer alone that it wasn't worth my time but I did just to make my review that much more honest and reliable. Overall, I preferred the original one and will not be watching this movie twice.
High School Musical: The Musical - The Series: Second Chances (2021)
Wtf was that episode even about??
I mean, where to begin!? So many plot holes throughout this season. No closure on anything in this episode over anything. Genuinely seems like a bunch of scenes just put together in a rush. EJ's college career, the EJ and Gina storyline, the Kourtney and Howie storyline, Howie being allowed to stay but not Lily and Antoine, the whole thing was about the competition and it was pointless just like that, the fact that they gave that all up even though Miss Jenn said at the beginning that the winning money would be for the fire damage she and Mr M caused so what happened to that?, Nini being a fork instead of the Rose, Nini's and Ricky's moment being left without even a hug, Zach Roy not coming back into it, the random cut to the show being over, and so much more. This season barely lived up to the first one with only the songs being the best outcome of it. The same goes with this episode on how the best part was the song. The reviews people have left here are all so accurate. I really hope that if this show gets renewed for a Season 3 that it answers or at least tries to close threads they've left open. I hope us as the fans get the closure we deserve soon enough.
