JAG (1995)
What I expect for 2003
As a fan of the show I would like to comment on what may be in store for the show for 2003: First could be very controversial as Lt. Singer could get a second trimester abortion, which may cause several `pro-life' congressmen to question the US Navy's cooperation in filming the show. Will she have the abortion? Will she keep the baby (Nanci Chambers is pregnant in real life)? Will she finally reunite with the father of the baby, Harm's half-brother Sergei? As of this writing only Harm and Singer (and the audience) knows whom the father is. The second story line involves long time regular PO Tiner. In the last episode before the New Year, Tiner (who I guess has his female fans) had the four alarm wants for the reassigned to JAG HQ PO Jennifer Coates. Whether or not this becomes mutual (and IMHO it probably will be) remains to be seen. But complications could arise because earlier in the season, Tiner was said to be just about done with law school, with being a JAG officer in his future. Can fraternization ruin true love or vice versa? Stay tuned. Interesting that of the three female leads of JAG, the first , Catherine Bell according to imdb.com, is pregnant in real life but unless Harm and Mac got it on without us knowing it, Mac will remain childless. The second, Karri Turner, her character(Harriet) is now pregnant. The third,Nanci Chambers (Mrs. David James Elliott) is both. Maybe the Admiral's girlfriend had a point in the Christmas 2002 episode.
The Civil War (1990)
Cannot wait for the DVD set.
And I hope that Burns loads the inevitable DVD release (and Baseball also) with bells and whistles that will make it worth the $100+ list price. This may be the best miniseries ever and one of television's finest hours. A MUST for anyone remotely interested in American History no matter where you live. I gave it a 10(could not go higher).
Salt of the Earth (1954)
Still relevant after 47 years!
Hey that alone says it all except for one thing. If there was anything as justice in this world, Rosaura Revueltas would get an Academy Award! Juan Chacon also was superb, and it surprised me that he was among the non-professional actors (all of whom were very good).
King of the Hill (1997)
The Yin to The Simpsons' Yang
This series is a thoughtful (if quite funny) series that fits well between the more manic "Futurama" and "The Simpsons". Bobby Hill may be the anti-Bart as well as Hank being the anti-Homer. Dale Gribbles is a trip as this wacko who somehow "got the girl" and loves his son even though he cannot realize that it is not his. And let us not forget Bill, the sadsack Army lifer barber who carries still a torch for Peggy.
