In the Dark (2019)
It kind of went wrong in the 4th season :(
Addendum: just finishing season 4, and it's simply enraging how so many great lead-ups to situations keep devolving into complete craziness. Scenes that make the whole thing maddeningly implausible. When you get there you'll know what I mean, but how are so many characters not seeing what type of person Josh is??
Original post:
Not to spoil anything, but that's a point in the 4th season where I had to finally also switch to believing that she's simply a bad person. Would have loved of that wouldn't have happened. Overall, up until then this show is a wild, interesting, emotional and funny ride! Had to watch all seasons within a week. I know, I should probably use my time much more wisely, but it really sucked me in. The twists and turns give you whiplash as you go on this fantastic ride into the world of drugs, murder, intrigue, sex, betrayal, loyalty, genuine as well as abusive friendship and so much more. Very worth your time, even with the ridiculous absurdity and depth of Murphy's selfishness.
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
A true masterpiece of digital art!
Wow, just WOW! I've heard for a while that League of Legends has a bit of a following, but never paid much attention, nor do I believe that anybody who watches the show has to even know about or be interested in video games. This show simply blew my mind, starting with the very first few scenes. The overwhelmingly fresh, warm, raw and meticulous artwork throughout, challenges one to find its equal amongst the great animation studies such as Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar and the likes.
Please, do yourself a favor and watch it. If you like animation, or even just beautiful, edgy, heartwarming, exciting, new and genuine entertainment, you should love this how. Oh, and the storyline rocks!
Kudos to this team of absolutely exceptional artists who created this Masterpiece. I'm in awe.
True Story (2021)
Kid should have...
... reacted differently when he called his brother from the movie theater in episode 2.
Instead of telling him to "just get it done!" He should have told him that he'd pay him 2 million $, but only IF he'd finally make him proud, and get this actually done!
Long Shot (2017)
Damn good movie!
All ya'll haters out there.. this is a good movie.
My 8 year old dog died today.. heart disease... a horrible 5 days leading up to a disastrous day of vet ER and ultimately death of my beloved friend Milla. She was the most amazing dog ever... regardless.. this movie has been able to tickle a smile and laugh out of me today.
So.. yeah.. watch it.
Cheers
IO (2019)
I sincerely enjoyed the movie, and am rather surprised about the bad reviews.
I thoroughly believe this is a really beautiful, dark and moving Sci-Fi movie. Yes, it's slow paced, and there's no robots shooting lasers, or post apocalypse monsters, or marauding crazy people. Just two survivors contemplating their future.
Very much enjoyed the movie.
Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj (2018)
Get rid of the laugh track..PLEASE
The show is amazing. It's smart, funny, disturbing and critical. Hasan Minaj is absolutely fantastic.
Now.. WHY? Why do you add this absolutely ridiculous canned laughter to the show? If a joke works, it works.. if it blows.. it blows. We are adults and we live in 2018, not 1970.
PLEASE drop the laugh track.. if you can't make it without the artificial laugh.. you'll probably not going to make it to the next season.. and that would be such a shame, because the show is really good.
American Anarchist (2016)
Sorry, but what a sh*tty film making job was this?
The movie starts out fine, but devolves into back-stabbing type of attacks to the author of The Anarchist Cookbook, who declares genuine remorse throughout the movie, that he wrote the book in the f'n 70s, while he was a traumatized (direct police brutality) young man.
From a reporting and scientific perspective the angle that the documentary takes is just a completely false premise and conclusion. The people who perpetrated horrific acts of violence didn't get influenced or animated by the book to do such acts, but instead sought out information because they wanted to commit these acts. The book was just a piece of the puzzle and all its information could/can be obtained from thousands of sources. Even if the book hadn't existed, these individuals would have committed exactly the same atrocities. They would just have gotten their information from somewhere else.. especially from the Internet. It can't be that we blame access to information for bad decisions or delusions of individuals. Especially ads this book had been sold world-wide, but the acts of violence had only occurred within the United States. The problem of American violence does not lay within a book written in the 70s, it's a cultural epidemic of violence that precedes and continues to today with no connection at all to having access to information, especially to some book that was written 40 years ago.
I think this documentary is an offense to intelligence and ranks the same with documentaries that ought to make you believe that video games cause 35k murders per year in America.
David Brent: Life on the Road (2016)
Can't put my finger on it...
I don't even know why I would give this a seven, maybe it should have been a 5, or a 4. Don't get me wrong, overall I enjoyed the movie. But, it was so painful along the way. I absolutely adore Ricky G., I very much like everything about him. The movie was painful to watch, the awkwardness and cringe-factor is off the charts throughout the whole movie. And , I so wanted to love this movie. Sure I realized that my expectations were unfounded after seeing the general consensus that this might not be one of his greatest achievements based on other viewers ratings, but I still thought that they might just not "get it". No, not really, it is absolutely painful to watch. Whenever you think that Brent might just ease off a little.. or one of his band-mates might cut him some slack, you are wrong. It is brutal, complete annihilation of his personality and soul throughout the movie. Just at the very end you come across some real emotions and people feeling any sort of connection to the protagonist.. but I believe Gervais threw him that bone way too late. At that point he was already obliterated by his own personality. The thing is.. you want to like Brent. Brent is a likable character, but the movie didn't give him that until the very end, and I think that's the major flaw. Anyhow.. watch it and see for yourself, it's not like you wasted some 90 minutes, or whatever, that you'd otherwise use to change the world for the better. Cheers
