Indestructible Man (1956)
As good a movie as this is, it's just as bad in spots.....
Charles "Butcher" Benton is on Death Row after being sent there by two hoods, who turned States evidence against him and a crooked lawyer who let it happen.
While in jail, the Butcher vows to get even with everyone who put him in jail but his lawyer reminded him he's going to die tomorrow but Butcher stood firm with his commitment that he was going to kill him, Squeamy Ellis and Joe Marcelli for their part in sending him to his death.
Enter Robert Shayne and his assistant, who are working on a cure for cancer and worked out a deal with the funeral home to acquire Benton's body for his experiment...they put him in the machine and zap him full of 287,000 volts of electricity and whaddaya know?....right, he comes back to life, kill the two and off he goes to LA to get down to business...
The Indestructible Man is one of those 50's movies which were really good back then and it's still good today ..........ONLY.......now that you're older, you notice things you didn't as a kid, for instance:
When the police confront him in the sewer and let him have it with a flamethrower and his face looks like a pizza while his arms and clothes aren't even scorched?.......Gimme a break.
An ordinary size man gets hit with a Bazooka, indestructible or not, it's gonna knock you off your feet, yet it doesn't?........Gimme a break.
But all in all, this movie doesn't disappoint if you're an old time 50's movie fan.
Defiance (1980)
JMV's Finest Movie
I think this is JMV's finest Hour and a half on film besides AIRWOLF and why this isn't out on DVD yet is beyond me. With all the crap they they do have out now, I would have thought I could find this somewhere but alas, I can't but thank god I have it on VHS when I copied it years ago for my own personal use.
You have already read the storyline from the rest of the comments up there so take my word for it, this flick is worth watching if you like "Gangs tearing up the neighborhood and the good guys kick their asses in the end" movies.
It's just a shame the JMV's career has since gone down the toilet.
La strage dei vampiri (1962)
Behind a DARK SKY, there is a silver lining.
DARK SKY FILMS has just released their version of SLAUGHTER OF THE VAMPIRES on DVD and I must tell you, it is far and away superior to that of the Retromedia version of the film. It is crisp, clear and sharp Black & White as I have ever seen in a film that is over 40 years old. They did a superb job of presenting this in DVD format. They include chapter index and when you go to a chapter, it doesn't put you right in the middle of a scene as Retromedia's version did. It is also presented in widescreen format too. Believe me, put your Retromedia copy on your Trade-in pile and go out and get DARK SKY FILMS version. The DSF version also includes a scene or two not presented in any other version that I remember although that storied missing 11 minutes that I have heard so much about does not seem to be there, it is still an excellent reproduction. Even though this film is from 1962, it still outshines a lot of vampire movies that I have seen. Graziella Granata is still gorgeous in this movie and her Titular jog through the castle to escape the stake is worth seeing in slow-mo. Whether or not you are a fan of a vampire movie this old, it still has a lot going for it. It shines in a dim way but it still shines. I call it the "GONE WITH THE WIND" of bad B-Vampire movies because it is the best of the worst.
Wanna talk about it?.............leave a comment, I'll get back to you.
