Trattoria (2012)
Very enjoyable
Excellent cast, story and direction. Totally relatable coming from a culinary background. The interactions with the staff in the movie were spot on as was the personal relationships.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Mr Darcy Mr Darcy
I enjoyed this movie, even having been a huge fan of the '95 version.
If you are a fan of that, you have to totally push the version of CF's Mr Darcy and the JE version of Jennifer Ehle.
Matthew MacFadyen did a good representation of Mr Darcy, I loved the stutter at the end when he was telling her he loved her.
I loved Donald Sutherland, although Benjamin Whitfeild was great too. I think all the actors did excellent jobs in this adaptation. I can't say that any of them were better then the miniseries. This version is good for those who cannot deal with sitting thru the six hours that the miniseries was.
I did notice that some of the movie was expediated and they seemed to cut out some of characters. I am assuming in the end that they were married, since Mr Darcy(in that day) was scarcely dressed. All in all I would say this version can stand on its own legs away from the mini series, I will say though that Colin Firth will always be the perfect Mr Darcy.
Queer as Folk: Out of the Closet, Into the Fire (2000)
UK Vs. US(spoilers)
I felt that this version wasn't as racy as some spouted it to be, but I actually though the American version was much more so. I have a hard time though picking which I like better. Both have good characters, good stories, but I really think that I have to say as far as characters go, id go with the US. It was on longer though, so the characters were able to grow and flourish with the years.
I felt that the ending of the UK series was too..campy...too happy...too cut and clean. Hazel was incredibly close to her son, would she really be happy with him going so far away? Also the gun that Stuart pointed in the homophob in America, he would have been arrested for that. I know....creative liberties. Are we to believe that finally Vince and Stuart have finally had sex? Or is their hand-holding a sign that they are just trying to cause waves. Also with Nathan, he got over Stuart far too quickly for someone who was so addicted to him previously.
I just felt the series needed more.
Dutch Girls (1985)
Porky's wannabe
It wasn't a great movie, it wasn't a terrible movie. About a group of young men who go to Holland to play hockey. Along the way they drink, smoke, and try to have sex. Is a good movie to see if your a fan of Colin Firth, as he is in most of it, has young Timothy Spall, Adrian Lukas, James Wilby. The acting by CF is great, but not even he can completely hold up this movie. Has quite a few laughs in it, but mostly just a bunch of guys trying to get their rocks off. The ending was a let down too, no real resolution. All in all, I do recommend seeing this movie if you are a die hard fan of Colin Firth, is a nice find for him as a young man.
Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Wonderful
The movie was wonderful. The casting of all the characters was excellent, and it was pretty faithful to the book. Colin Firth as Mr Darcy was a great choice, he let out a wonderful smoldering sexuality. Jennifer Ehles as Elizabeth Bennett was great cause you really felt for her character as she was going through the issues she was.
