Palmer (2021)
Brilliant. Watch it.
Clichéd story, stereotypical characters, and a journey whose ending is all too predictable. . But it's absolutely terrific. I loved this movie, the best I've seen in ages. Timberlake is moody and minimal in a performance that could very easily go wrong - but it doesn't,he's superb!
To Be Someone (2020)
WTF?
Swear down, possibly the worst film I've ever seen. A historical achievement in bad movie making.
Beverly Hills Wedding (2021)
Oh dear.
So bad I smashed my own TV up! Unlikeable characters in an unlikely yarn (except for the wedding planner - he was good).
Shithouse (2020)
Give it a go.
I enjoyed this. I'm a bit of a sucker for college themed movies, and this engaged me nicely. Good performances and a gently unfolding story (no bombs, cars,CGI or gremlins if that's your thing). As is traditional we explore the burgeoning personalities, and motivations of college age characters, the nice and the nasty - their longing for acceptance and affection, and their strategies to find it. . Well done, thumbs up from me.
Gone Baby Gone (2007)
Wow,this is bad.
I don't mind Ben Affleck,I can't hear Casey (I have partial deafness in my right ear). This film was absolutely rubbish!
News of the World (2020)
Could've been an epic!
Hanks fabulous, cinematography top notch, recreation of post civil war USA amazing. . But it doesn't quite nail it. The political prodding is inconsistent and unnecessary,as are the sheer weight of obstacles put in our protagonists way - the sandstorm was the last straw for me!! Worth watching if only for (yet another) memorable Hanks performance.
Richard Jewell (2019)
Fabulous film making.
I just had to post, having finally caught up with this film. What a brilliant piece of story telling, brilliantly told. I can't ever recall seeing a film where the acting doesn't fall below perfect in any one scene, there isn't a dud moment in the whole film - every sentence every look propels the drama. .Shout out to Sam Rockwell who just eats up the screen. . .again!
And maybe this was just a little pre-emtive warning by Mr.Eastwood about the conduct of a certain Federal Bureau? I say that in Dec 2020.
