Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
fantastic movie! humanized Jack Ryan
I truly don't understand why Chris Pine said in an interview about future movies, that there would be none and "That's one of my deep regrets, that we didn't totally get that right."
What didn't they get right?
Because I thought they totally did it right. They differentiated it from Harrison Ford's version of Jack Ryan, and basically Rebooted it.
Chris Pine did a wonderful job in my opinion, in portraying the character. The writers did a wonderful job of humanizing Jack Ryan and giving us his backstory, which to me, it was the perfect way to begin the new franchise of Chris Pine as Jack Ryan.
I really think the movie didn't do better in the box office because it was competing with Marvel movies and other major films in 2014.
I really hope that they reconsider now that the MCU has concluded, and Jack Ryan can be brought back. Some may call this sacrilege lol, but I honestly think Chris Pine was a better Jack Ryan than Harrison Ford was.
2 Hearts (2020)
Touching movie with religious undertones
I'm not a fan of religious movies in general, for many reasons including the intentional brainwashing of one's own children.
This movie kept the religion to a minimum, and even allowed the characters to sing, dance and drink alcohol (yay, progress! :) )
I loved how the movie gave clues but they weren't so obvious you could guess what exactly would happen and just how it did.
As a result of all of this, I thought the script was very well written. And I was happy to see a charitable organization founded because of it. I just wish she would have gotten her "dozens and dozens of babies" as a result of the charity.
The music was also great and one song in particular, I should have used Google Assistant to find out what it was. Lol
All in all, it was a great "feel good" movie like Hallmark Channel (NOT Lifetime as someone else said- those movies prey on people's worst fears imo). And it was a good use of my time.
Key messages for me: more people need to be organ donors!! (i loved how the writers beautifully talked about it) And life is happening FOR us not TO us, as Tony Robbins often says.
God Calling (2018)
Real and Ridiculously UNreal
What I loved about the movie was the powerful grief shown by the actors. And the genuine emotions from others. That was real. Dialog was well written too, but the script and movie? Not only unrealistic, but ridiculously so.
There was a scene that was cut or redone about Sade believing she was to go East. Francis was incredulous BUT...she hadn't even said "East" at that point lol (at least not in Netflix version).
And the miracles, ideology, storyline..very much shows just how much superstition still exists in Nigeria and in Christianity.
The Bible was written with grossly outdated Bronze Age ideas AND btw, infidelity is the ONE reason the Christian hoky religion slave book allows for divorce. So yeah, Nigeria still has a loong way to go.
Music was very pretty.
All Rise (2019)
Another show canceled because of US' narrowmindedness
Just like Harriet's Law several years ago, we have ANOTHER show who is thinking outside the box about what "criminal justice system" should look like, and injecting common sense. And general Americans are unable or unwilling to see we have a corroded, antiquated system...let alone fix it.
It's times like these where I just get so frustrated and disappointed with my countrymen. I am disheartened.
Strong Medicine: Heartbeat (2002)
Predictable feel good- same ol' Strong Medicine
Predictable, happy to see the show tackle some tough med issues like DV, as they did in this one. Same ol' Strong Medicine.
Gilmore Girls (2000)
Male version for nickname is "Jes" with one 's'!
Apparently the writer and/or editor(s) need a spelling lesson :)...
Jesse is the full male spelling of the name. It's nickname is Jes, with one 's.'
Jessie is the female spelling, and is the original nickname of Jessica. Jess, with 2 's' is also a feminine nickname, of either Jessie or Jessica.
Can you please update your original cast info and ensure your whole writing team is aware of the proper spellings of each? I have known both Jesse's and Jessie's in my life, which is why I can write with such certainty.
Thank you for your time and for not misspelling for an entire generation 😊😏.
