Welcome to Mama's (2022)
Were we watching the same movie?
Once again, when I read the scathing reviews to some of the Hallmark movies, I shake my head. I love watching Hallmark movies because they are entertaining. I don't go to bed and have nightmares because of violence, language, etc. I have said before in a review that there is so much negativity from some reviewers that I should stop reading them. And here I am again
commenting on that negativity. Of course we all
have and are entitled to our own opinions. My opinion of this movie is that it is well acted, fairly easy to follow the flashbacks and a well written ending. Good chemistry was evident in how the story ended. Very believable ( to me ) that they were falling in love. Once again I encourage the negative Nancy viewers to find more joy. I applaud Hallmark for giving us an enjoyable escape from wars, pandemics and politics.
The Wedding Veil (2022)
Some reviews are truly ridiculous ( in my opinion)
The Wedding Veil was a very enjoyable movie and a nice way to spend a few hours. The chemistry between the leads was natural and the relationships between the other characters made sense. I never once reached for the remote to fast forward because the dialogue or story line was lacking. I've stopped writing reviews for quite awhile now. The people who consistently negatively post simply wear me out. We are all entitled to voice opinions and I don't expect that everyone will be on the same page.
It is the reviews that dissect and find fault in a nitpicking way that frustrate me. Hallmark movies are not written for awards. They are a nice distraction from our lives and not to be thought provoking or "deep". If the negative reviewers find so much fault and feel justified in shredding the plot, actors, setting, etc ,I have a suggestion. Stop watching !!! And if you do find yourself in front of the tv when a HM is on, enjoy something about it. Who really cares if the Boston accent wasn't perfect?
Frozen in Love (2018)
What is chemistry?
Watching this movie again tonight, I saw more of the subtlety of the story line. And,I saw plenty of chemistry. It isn't only kissing and being in love. It's the relationship between people and not limited by romance. Niall and RLC had a great relationship evolve with funny conversations, twinkling eyes , intense gazes , and a friendship.
That to me is " chemistry "
This movie is more than worth a second look. So well written, acted and directed. Watch it for the great chemistry, family strength, character and lastly, love.
I'd be up for watching it next year to see what else I can learn from it. Remember that these are Hallmark movies, some better than others. But they are a much needed chance to forget LIFE for a couple of hours. Politics?, quarantine?
Don't dissect,..... enjoy.
A Nashville Christmas Carol (2020)
A "feel good movie"
I'll begin by saying that I'm not the biggest fan of country music. For me, a little goes a long way. But, that being said , I really liked this movie. So, the country stars are not the most polished actors...... So??? They are super talented singers. I read the other reviews and wonder if they watched the same movie that I did. I saw plenty of chemistry with the leads , thought that the story flowed well and was very easy to follow. The plot was a clever, non formulaic take on A Christmas Carol (which by the way ,I'm not a fan of the classic version).
A successful ending for me is the rapport between the couple and a kiss and interaction that isn't cringeworthy. Lots of eye contact, smiles and tenderness was this ending. No fast forwarding tonight. And, you all have to admit, the dog was adorable!!! I can say the same about Wes Brown. 😊
On the 12th Date of Christmas (2020)
Great addition to the Hallmark Christmas movie lineup!
This is my first review to submit, written primarily because I seem to have a different "take" on the Hallmark movies. I've not always had the opportunity to watch the Hallmark Channel with my cable plan so I only have last year and this year to compare and review. Watching the same movie, I'm amazed at the widely varied ratings. Some reviewers dissect each scene, hair out of place, etc. They must watch to critique instead of for the sheer enjoyment of the story.
In my opinion, this was a well written, acted, scripted movie with a less formulaic tone. The leads had great chemistry, they are both the same height, and did an admirable job filming the movie during the pandemic. One reviewer mentions the Lifetime movies being better, which I disagree with. However, we all come from different places, needs for escape, relationships and real life problems.
Keep up the good work Hallmark! We need these movies to keep our sanity during quarantines and distancing.
