The Book of Henry (2017)
Go Jaeden Martell
This movie was giving... Saw energy?
I wasn't expecting to cry during this flick, I was expecting a movie about Jaeden Martell (Henry) and Jacob Tremblay (Peter) being brothers, I was not expecting Jaeden to have a brain tumor and then die in the first 40 minutes. I was sorta falling apart when he climbed out of the hospital bed and begged to see the sky, that did get me I admit.
I wasn't expecting this to become a movie about a dead 11 year old boy teaching his mother (who is not doing a good job by the way, I don't care Jaeden said!) how to murder their next door neighbor, it was giving saw vibes (idk how to explain this?)
I really like It:2017 and have seen it multiple times so I forgot that Jaeden Martell doesn't normally talk all quiet and Micheal Cera-y, so that was a bit of a AH moment for me.
Without Jaeden and Jacob it would have been a 4 probably? I think it was very messy and poorly done but both of them are just really good in this (and most of the stuff they've been in TBH) so yay!!! Go them ig
Otherwise this movie just kinda throws you around the entire time, But it had some good parts.
Dead Poets Society (1989)
Watched it too young
I understand for someone who was 16 or 17 this movie probably would have seemed great, but I watched this movie when I was 12.
When I first started watching it with my mom and brother, I didn't have an issue, I just thought it would be boring because of Robin Williams (no offence he was a great actor and a really good person) who I didn't really like in pan, which my mom makes me and my older brother watch every year, too the point where I just find it boring now, but whatever, its Robin Williams, nothing could be that bad.
I was incredIbly wrong. It was very bad.
I'm very used to movies and shows that contain suicide, both then and now, and by the time I was 12 I had seen things significantly more gorey than the suicide in the movie, I would even say that I (and for that matter still do) liked gore, but it was always in a cartoony sorta way, like in shows like Supernatural or Riverdale where its always over done, and theres a very obvious disconnect from reality.
In Dead Poets Society however, there was some switch in my tiny little 12 year old brain that flipped when the kid killed himself, this triggered the worst panic attacked I have ever experienced, and nearly three years later as I rewatched the movie (im nearly 15 now) I had another panic attack!!!!!
So yeah this movie gave me very awful trauma and I still can't watch anything with robin williams in it without getting nauseas so thanks mom... anyway DON'T LET YOUR KIDS WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!!
Boku no hîrô akademia THE MOVIE: Wârudo Hîrôzu Misshon (2021)
Was Great! Will watch Again!
I've seen all three of the BNHA movies, and this one is by far the best. What Two heroes lacked in a solid plot, and what Heroes rising lacked in a satisfying conclusion, World Heroes' Mission' makes up for it all with a solid concept, plot, and conclusion
The fights at the end felt suspenseful, Humarise felt like an actual villian (arguably stronger than the league, but thats a whole other can of worms), and for a few minutes at the end it did genuinely feel like they were going to loose (asides from the fact that anyone who has ever seen a movie before knows that wouldn't happen) so it was a solid ending.
And Rody, oh my god don't get me started on Rody. He's a really good movie exclusive character, who is given enough development that he doesn't feel Hollow like Melissa did (no dirt on her, she was just kinda flat IMO), and as he's just one person, his development and actually involvement made him have more steaks in the story unlike Mahoro and Katsuma (i know Katsuma had hella steaks in Heroes Rising, but just watch the movie and you'll know what I mean).
My only "problems" with the story are more contingency issues, like the way Bakugou uses Howitzer impact (then again this can be chalked up to him levelling up in battle which we have seen before), and the final countdown going on longer than it should but this often happens in movies, so then again this is just nitpicking.
Bee Movie (2007)
The Greatest Bug Themed Movie in Cinematic history
This movie is so incredibly good, I cry every time I finish it, It is so magnificent it should be played in the Lourve next to the Mona Lisa. A glorious performance from Jerry Seinfeld. My only grievance is that I cannot experience this masterpiece for the first time again.
