The Searchers (1956)
Ridiculous
This 'masterpiece' and all the sycophantic praise spewed on it are nonsense. The acting is amateurish, and Wayne, as always, is stiff, and chews up the scenery. As was the custom, there's predictable, lame ''comic relief', the musical score is loud, intrusive and bad and the overt racism had to have been cringeworthy even in the 1950's. The "redskins" and Mexicans ( and the Flamenco dancer-wtf?) were cartoonish and offensive.
This film is insulting trash. I'd rate it a zero if possible.
Royally Ever After (2018)
Horrible acting, cliche riddled film
Typical Hallmark fare; down to earth American meets a Prince from an unknown, micro-sized European country where everyone speaks with English accents. Cultures clash, aristocratic noses are out of joint, love prevails. But this one is particularly cringe-inducing owing to the annoyingly amateurish acting of the lead, Fiona Gubelmann. She giggles and bounces-literally bounces up on her toes-at every opportunity. It's not the role, Gubelmann bounces and giggles through every part she's ever played. This one is a must miss.
Christmas Next Door (2017)
Overacted and bad
The lead, Fiona Gubelmsn, chews up the scenery with her wide-eyed face contortions. She bounced on her heels to add emphasis to everything she says, and tosses her curls at every opportunity. She's supposed to be a great violinist but they couldn't be bothered to teach her even the basics of how to hold the instrument and bow. And the grandmother...its supposed to be cute that she feigns illness just to ge tg her busy son to take his niece and nephew the week of Chri sc tmas, just so they can 'bond'.
All around, a miss.
