Supergirl: Blind Spots (2021)
This is what this show was meant to be!!
The message in this episode is relevant to our world and Azie did an absolutely amazing job bringing these issues into the episode in a way that is emotionally engaging and fits the plot of her character. It tackles issues in the way that supergirl has previously tried and failed to do and it's incredible. Really shows how important it is for minorities to be in the writers room when it comes to representation. Not to mention that the acting and emotionality within it was portrayed beautifully! This episode is what this show has always tried to be, a show that tackles social issues along with the sci-fi superhero action. This episode is one of the best, if not the best in the entire series and I wish that the hard hitting writing had been here from the start. Go Azie!!!!
Legends of Tomorrow: The Fungus Amongus (2021)
Fabulously queer as always!
Sara and Avas relationship has always been the healthiest relationship on television, albeit under strange circumstances and this wedding fits them just perfectly. Otherwise, the stakes are as high as ever and the fight agains the Zagarons is action packed and as perfectly strange as legends always is. Then to wrap up and win with the kiss of their perfect, queer, main couple is just completely on brand for this show and it fits so well. A stellar end to the season, especially as it has been so Avalance centric it just feels like a perfect way to wrap up the story as it started!!
Supergirl: Phantom Menaces (2021)
Beautiful Character Development!!!!
I love this show for so many reasons but it's been lacking good character development, this time around it was absolutely perfect!!! The Dansen scenes were beautiful and they got a good amount of screen time this episode which was exciting! Lena leaving Luthorcorp for her self was absolutely perfect and great for her, and the "Me too" was just beautiful and sad all at once. Brainy had some beautiful scenes as well and this episode makes it appear that it's shaping up to be an amazing season!!
Legends of Tomorrow (2016)
Hilarious and completely out there
Season 1 is bad, but seasons 2-5 are hilarious and amazingly unique.
I watched the whole show this summer based on a recommendation from a friend and genuinely was going to stop watching after season 1 because I thought it was so awful. Season 1 was flat, repetitive and full of poorly executed melodrama. She convinced me to keep watching and I'm so glad I did. It's my favorite show on television right now and it's so out there and funny you never know where it's going to go next. Season 2 is good and season 3 onward is just amazing. While the humor can be cheesy at times and the time travel may have some plot holes overall the show makes sense and is really funny.
Beyond the humor, this show also has one of the most diverse casts of characters in many ways. It has some of the best LGBTQ representation I've seen on screen, as well as the cast being racially diverse, and Zari (Tala Ashe's character) is Muslim. I also love how the cast is so dynamic and constantly changing, it makes the show even more interesting and gives it a new angle each season, and seeing as the characters are what the viewer really falls in love with this change in relationships and growth between characters and their evolution over the course of the show is inspiring and moving.
In short, if you can get through the flatness of season 1 the show develops into a comedy with a diverse and dynamic cast with many positive messages and lovable characters.
