Rugrats (2021)
It's not THAT bad...
Okay all of the one star reviews made me want to leave my own. I think most people watched one episode (or even that) before leaving their review. Once you get passed some of the startling changes like the cgi, and grandpas voice, it really isn't so bad as far as reboots and children's shows go. It gives me the same heartwarming vibe as the original but updated for the new generation. I also like how the adults are getting a little more backstory added to their characters. Betty has changed but for me it's for the better, instead of just being a loud alpha female she is more well rounded and has a story to her. Finally, It's important to remember this show is for children so the one star ratings are pretty harsh. There's wayyy worse kid shows on tv at the moment. This one is cute! Let's give it a chance to grow.
Squid Game: The Challenge (2023)
Canceling Netflix
This had me so upset that I'm literally canceling Netflix. Who's idea was it to turn a highly rated Korean show into American trash reality tv? Whoever it was should be fired. I have been excited, thinking another season was coming... nope! A complete rip off of other reality shows like The Challenge on MTV but just adding in squid game decor essentially.
If you want to watch an actual good reality tv show where the contestants have to compete against each other for money then please just watch The Challenge, I recommend season 30. It's on Paramount+, you're welcome! Save yourself from this cash grab.
The Great British Bake Off: Mexican Week (2022)
Cheesy and offensive
The idea of a Mexican week challenge was intriguing, yet this episode failed to deliver what I expected. As an American living so close to Mexico I found the mispronunciations grating. I get they're British and have accents but that doesn't mean they can't use the correct pronunciation. Now that wouldn't have been so terrible if it wasn't for the show stopper challenge. It came off a bit racist, and corny. No Mexican colors, flags, or even Spanish words as decor to be seen. Instead we get a big cheesy mustache that's a bit offensive, and a cake topped with French macaroons and the word love in English. This episode just didn't work, there should have been a lot more research and the judges should have been harder critics when it came to decorations. Where was Mexico?!
