Tenki no ko (2019)
Magnificent!
Magnificent ! Obviously, I am not talking about the animation. Well, yes, it is, but I'm talking mainly about its subject. Makoto Shinkai doesn't disappoint me, although I have to admit that the film is not as good as Your Name.
Makoto Shinkai manages to make me interested in ancient stories that normally would make me want to sleep on my feet. Him, he manages to take me by the heart with a very beautiful love story and more in depth than in his previous film, it must be admitted! The director is comfortable with the subject of love, we feel that it is something that particularly touches him and that he wants to share it.
There is something really cool about the film as well: the realism. In addition to the realistic and very successful animation, even though it deals with topics that would be impossible in reality, it fits perfectly with the very down to earth atmosphere that the film set up.
I think it's a film with a small audience, that's for sure, but fans of the genre will like it a lot for sure!
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
How to say it like that...?
I can understand that some like it, but for me this movie is just flat ... They say that knowing next to nothing reinforces the horror of the movie, but I disagree! I agree that we cannot explain everything orally, but there is a limit!
It's flat, it's not scary, the characters are not really endearing and therefore, we are not invested in the film, and every thing that happens to them left me unmoved, I almost didn't care.
The final scene, for example, did absolutely nothing to me.
I still want to say that there are some good ideas, like the idea of dolls that really freaked me out, but it stops there! They do nothing of this story, it was useless!
It's a pity, but I don't like this movie. It is at the best just bad, if not really bad.
Hangman (2015)
Meh...
Yes, the movie shows the disturbing side of the movie well, OK that's cool, but it does it for free. We don't feel any tension, and we're in a horror movie, damn! Every act our psychopath does leaves us unmoved and it will never be discovered by the family or anyone else, no how or why our psychopath does this, just FREE... We are just immersed in the life of this psychopath, we do not know his motivations, nothing, and that makes us not want to be interested in what he does, so ...
And I'm sure this kind of scenario can work in a lot of movies, but this one doesn't have much to save the shipwreck!
I advise against.
Domestic na Kanojo (2019)
Good, but...
It's good, but it could be so much better. They have shorted a (big?) part of the manga. It's a pity! More development equals more attachments...
It would have needed more episodes, but some scenes are striking and will definitely make an impact to the viewer, for sure, and the OST is beautiful, but like I said, we needed more episodes, and we feel that it's going too fast, and it remains a significant defect!
Krypton (2018)
So close to the absolute masterpiece!
Krypton is one of my favorite shows. Still, I'm not a huge fan of the Boy Scout superhero, but this series has managed to make me love the Superman universe. Some complain about the slowness of the series, but even I who don't like it when it's slow, it was not embarrassing, and very interesting. A big highlight of the series: these characters. Whether it's the good guys (Adam, my favorite) or the bad guys (Brainiac and Doomsday who are awesome), they are all excellent, and terribly endearing!
It's unfair, this kind of series should not be canceled ...
The series does not have its conclusion, I cannot describe it as a masterpiece, but we are close to it.
Swamp Thing (2019)
Damn, save this show!
It's this kind of series that, when you know it's canceled, you want to cut your veins ...
Despite it being excellent, it can be seen that season 1 has a taste of incomplete ... Considering how this season ended and the subjects that remained to be dealt with, it promised to be incredible, and we will never know the following...
It's unfair.
Open Grave (2013)
Masterpiece!
Clearly my favorite movie!
Everything is there: great actors (especially Sharlto Copley who plays Jonah Cooke as well as Erin Richards whom I love with all my heart), gripping plot, good and clever production, chilling atmosphere ... EVERYTHING in this film is good or even excellent! And damn it, the film has several really memorable scenes! There will be scenes that will make you want to cry (the death of the characters and especially that of Nathan with the heartbreaking reaction of Jonah, damn it, that excellent acting from Sharlto Copley!), some really disturbing and/or scary scenes (the opening scene of the film which is clearly my favorite scene of the film but which still traumatizes me, Lukas' sexual assaults on Brown Eyes ...).
It's something that will mark you in this film: the atmosphere of the film, which will oppress you, the fact of being afraid for the fate of the characters, of jumping at each strong moment ...
You NEED to see this movie, it's a must-see!
Poker Night (2014)
Good, very good!
I expected nothing ... and I was not disappointed! To see, really!
Don't F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer (2019)
"Can I have a cigarette, please?"
Usually I'm not too documentary, but this one is so good and interesting that I quickly finished it! A must-see documentary series for serial killer enthusiasts!
Daredevil (2015)
An excellent TV series!
Daredevil is an excellent series, unfortunately a bit slow but still interesting. The fight scenes are very well coregraphed and the rivalry between Murdock and Fisk is really well developed. The characters are all excellent (except Elektra which I hate).
Season 3 is the best season, and I remain disappointed, really disappointed with season 2 ...
The Purge (2018)
Better than the movies!
As we know, a series is longer than a film, and that's an advantage for this series! Something like The Purge HAD needed a series to better develop its universe. It's a shame the series was canceled.
The Boys (2019)
Overrated
Friendly, but a bit overrated. We find much better as an Amazon Original.
Death Note - Desu nôto: The Last Name (2006)
Wow.
A real surprise! I didn't think I would hang as much as the first film. In addition to benefiting from an atmosphere that will not make you want to yawn. The scene of Light's death is truly memorable, poignant and unforgettable ... Tatsuya Fujiwara's acting is also really impressive, he bursts the screen!
Death Note: Desu nôto (2006)
Excellent!
A very good adaptation of the manga, but the writers and directors did not cut and paste the manga. They take the plot of the manga but adapting it to stick to a movie. A must see for fans of manga and anime!
Death Note (2017)
Unfairly criticized!
A film unfairly and too severely criticized to be a "bad adaptation" of the eponymous manga. It's wrong!
The film is very good and has its share of strong and striking scenes.
The Mandalorian (2019)
"This is the way."
A series that fully deserves its popularity. One of its strong points is clearly its atmosphere and its universe, and we can hardly not want more at the end of each episode.
