Carol (2015)
One of my favorites
Does anyone here discuss Price of Salt? This was one of the most beautifully book to film adaptions I've ever seen. The music, the acting, the cinematography. The way you can feel Rooney Mara hold her breath in the end scene. The subtle humor in the nerves when they order lunch during their first meeting. It's gripping and every time I watch it, I notice something new. For those who find the storyline dull or slow, the beauty is in the journey. There's controversy in the slowness, there's painstaking intention in the timing. I can only imagine what it was like to be a woman in the 1950s, let alone a woman in love with another woman. Patricia Highsmith was way ahead of her time and I think every second of her agony was well captured in this film.
Women Who Kill (2016)
Worth the watch
I had low expectations and they were met and exceeded! The humor is subtle but hilarious - like when Morgan grabbed a whisk instead of a knife. The different characters in the movie were also hysterical. Slower movie but creative and different. It was a fun watch with my wife!
