The Flood (2020)
THE FLOOD brings to life part of Australia's history that had been white-washed & forgotten
Altho I was raised and educated in Australia, I was never aware of this part of our history. Such brutal treatment of Indigenous Australians is unconscionable and needs to be taught in schools, making sure that "colonial" attitudes towards the people who have inhabited the island nation for 40,000+ years are never again imposed upon the Aboriginal population.
The Flood feature film is based on real-life incidents in post-WWII Australia and is the directorial debut for writer/director Victoria Wharfe McIntyre. It features outstanding performances by all, esp. The leads Shaka Cook (as Waru) and Alexis Lane (Jarah) and supporting actors Dean Kyrwood, AACTA nominated Aaron Jeffery, Socs Otto, Dalara Williams and the especially cruel and creepy Brendan Bacon. With expert historical and cultural guidance from actor Paul James McLeod and Justine Brown McLeod, the director has woven a story that is true to the time period and the collision of 2 cultures.
It's a brutal film, no doubt, but one worth staying to the end...you will have a new respect and empathy for those who gave on the battlefield only to return home to find their families and properties destroyed.

Horror fans will enjoy this film
Have not been a horror film fan in the past but I enjoyed the acting in this well-written film. Good pacing and it was great to see Willie Aames in the lead.
