Dora the Explorer (2000)
wonderful but repetitive kids show
Dora the Explorer can be hard to watch for an adult but my 1 1/2 year old loves it. She can now say "backpack", "map", "boots", and other key words used on the show. The show is highly repetitive but this has aided in my child's learning. I am convinced as she gets older, she will pick up on the Spanish words, also.
I encourage parents to allow your child to watch this show because it has some educational value. One warning - the show sometimes uses characters that rely on magic, such as a wizard looking for a magic wand. Overall, it can be an educational tool.
Baby Bach (1998)
good for baby brain power!
Baby Bach, along with other Baby Einstein videos, are great for very young infants through toddler age. All ages love the vivid images, classical music, poetry, and other devices used to help children develop their whole minds.
Carbon Copy (1981)
racial commentary, but slow and lame
This movie tries to talk to race relations and spoof stereotypes. It does do this to a certain degree but it is also quite slow, predictable and frankly, lame. And, are we supposed to believe that Denzel is a teenager here? He is almost 30 years old in this movie. Please.
