Derry Girls (2018)
It's right up there with the UK's best
I'm a Sri Lankan 27-year old man, and after finding about Shaun of the dead and watching it, I became an UK comedy fan. The dark, sarcastic comedy style was right up my alley. US comedy can be too over-the-top, silly and too corny sometimes, in my opinion (As a man from a country with 0 movies in any recognized comedy list). I completed the trilogy then, and bunch of other UK movie classics after and then got into TV shows. Inbetweeners, IT crowd, Peep show are some of my favorites. And after searching for a show in the style of Inbetweeners, I found about this show - Derry Girls. And as a lover of the classic UK sitcoms, and as a avid comedy fan, I can genuinely say this is right up there with the classics, and as much hilarious as one of the best in the genre. Can't really relate to the culture or the style of behavior of the characters, but the comedy gold was not lost on an average south asian. We watch a lot of US shows & UK shows in Sri Lanka, but the accent was sometimes too hard to follow but the subtitles definitely helped. Inbetweeners is still my favorite of the two, maybe because it was somewhat relatable when it came to guys stuff. Still easily one of the best sitcom shows I have seen period, NOT ONLY from UK. If you are not from the UK, please keep the subtitles on, because some of the jokes can get missed due to how fast and nonchalant they deliver the lines (part of the UK style, I think). 10/10 Show, 10/10 comedy, 10/10 acting, 8/10 story, and 9/10 teenage drama. Sorry if my English was bad, this isn't my native language.
Deweni Inima (2017)
THEY WRITE THE EPISODE SCRIPT JUST MINUTES BEFORE THE EPISODE
Well If my Caption didn't give it away, THE WRITING SUCKS AND THEY TREAT THEIR AUDIENCE AS MORONS.
The Characters in the show just IMPROVISES their conversations 100% time in the show. And IT'S NOT CLEVER, NOT FUNNY, NOT ENTERTAINING AND JUST A DISGRACE FOR ACTORS/ACTRESSES AROUND THE GLOBE.
The Dialogues are BEYOND horrendous, the story is meaningless and JUST PLAIN STUPID. I don't even think the writers care anymore.
Just cash grabbing from commercial airtime. It's an insult for people who STILL watches cable TV to SEE DECENT SHOWS.
I know that this is Sri Lanka, and the bar to raise is too damn low for the standards in TV shows these days here, but even for that, this is AS LOW AS IT GETS.
Rick and Morty: Night Family (2022)
Finally an Episode That Felt Like Old Rick and Morty!
Wow really felt like a First 3 Season Episode Again! More of this please! Real (Old R & M) Personalities with believable dialogues! No more out-of-character-random-stuff-saying cartoon characters! R & M was a lot more! Since they were given 70 episodes, the story has been poor - character wise and story wise etc. Few good episodes here and there (hopefully this isn't one of those - and continuity happens with characters). Justin & Dan - Care about rick and morty again! It's not about money! R & M could have gone down in history - but season 4 & 5 wasn't it - Adults are your main focus right - no more fever dreams please! Give Me Old Rick and Morty Back!!!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Memories of the Future (2022)
"Stand up, Father" MASTERPIECE, PEAK FICTION, NEXT LEVEL.
Easily the best episode of the show because it FINALLY shows literally how EVERYTHING is connected. From the very beginning, it was planned. From you in 2000 years chapter to from you 2000 years later episode, we all grew up. This is what peak fiction looks like. Hats off Isayama. Thank you Mappa.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Two Brothers (2022)
MASTERPIECE Storytelling: Thank you Isayama. Thank you Mappa.
Isayama is in his PEAK for the next few chapters and Mappa did absolute Justice to the start of the REAL ATTACK ON PLOT TWISTS. Next 2 episodes will be AS Mind blowing and AS phenomenal. All I say is Thank you, Hajime Isayama for the great plot and thank you Mappa for carrying it home in just a few months time.
Shingeki no Kyojin: To You, in 2000 Years: The Fall of Shiganshina, Part 1 (2013)
1st Scene of the 1st episode: Makes sense now in the 4th season after 10 years of Story. Do I need to say more?
"To you, in 2000 years" is the name of the plot episode. At the time, we didn't even pay attention to that title, because it made no sense. But after all these years, we finally understand. Isiyama, you are a goddamn genius! Please look at the 1st scene of the anime: Eren wakes from a dream. He has seen the future through a dream. NOW in season 4, we know HOW & WHY. He asks mikasa "Why is your hair long?" NOW in season 4, we know WHY. Pay attention to the dream sequence. The 1ST SCENE OF THE FIRST EPSIODE HAD MORE CONTEXT THAN AN WHOLE NORMAL SHOW WOULD HAVE. Go search the net: What does "to you in 2000 years" title name mean? And if you are a manga reader, remember chapter 1of year 2010 and then remember the chapter 120 in last year, 2019. All I can say is... AOT is a GODDAMN MASTERPIECE. AND WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE SEEN THE CLASSIC OF THE MODERN AGE BEING MADE. Not only anime, easily one of the deepest plots in any written fiction
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Door of Hope (2020)
Yet another great episode in the GREATEST ANIME OF ALL TIME
One piece is child's play when compared to the masterpiece of AOT. One piece is a child's cartoon suited for 10 year olds whie AOT is the greatest written-fiction in all of anime history. That's all :)
Shingeki no Kyojin: Midnight Train (2020)
After the Action-packed first episode, A very Informative and symbolical Episode: Typical AOT
Well as a manga reader, I know what's to come. This episode, and even the first episode was just calm before the storm. This episode really sets up the characters, emotions, state of mind and specially reiner's stand-point, which will become crucial later. No Titans in this episode, and no real big action. CGI wasn't bad but wasn't insanely good either. Typical AOT episode I'd say... slow build up and subtle info-dump which will lead to one of the greatest plot reveals in whole of anime history xD
Dark (2017)
End is the beginning, Beginning is the end. Philosophical Masterpiece.
In my opinion, Dark = Nirwana. End is the beginning, Beginning is the end. There is no starting point, there is no ending point. This is a cycle. We must stop the cycle; The cycle of life; The cycle of suffering. so we can be achieve peace. Eternal peace. Total Darkness. Dark.
Dark: Das Paradies (2020)
So much more than a Time Travel Sci - Fi Show... A Literal Masterpiece
In my opinion, Dark = Nirwana. End is the beginning, beginning is the end. We must stop the cycle; The cycle of life; The cycle of suffering. so we can be achieve peace. Eternal peace. Total Darkness. Dark.
Blackpink: Light Up the Sky (2020)
Inspirational and Emotional Masterpiece! I Love them Even more now...
I CAN'T PUT INTO WORDS HOW MUCH I ADMIRE THESE 4 GIRLS!!! I'm a straight male; I never had to go through issues like ageism, racism or sexism in my life. I can't relate to these 4 awesome girls on those points.
But I CAN RELATE to Having a dream, Trying to give 100% to achieve something, Sacrificing whole life to it and being in pure hopefulness with patience. As seeing on this DOCUMENTARTY and other stuff, Of course, I wasn't and isn't anywhere near what these girls have achieved. The Efforts and The hard-work they gave... THIS DOCUMENTARY WAS A ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS!!!
I always loved All the girls from Blackpink: Jisoo Unnie, Jennie Kim, Lalisa Manoban and Park Chaeyoung - also known as Rose. I have Always loved their songs, but what made me follow them, adore them and feel for them and be proud of them was knowing their personalities. They are so pure, hopeful, lovely, cute, pretty in-and-out with confidence of a lifetime. Above all, bright with Determination and Positive Thinking. This Documentary shows us a lot of it; it's indeed a very well executed one at that. As a Blink, I really enjoyed it.
As a human being - I'm so proud of these 4 girls, standing for what they want, working their hardest to achieve it and being the powerful girls they are - I have nothing but love and admiration. You girls deserve everything you have! Keep motivating Males and females Around the globe with your awesome work and talent! Keep Lighting up the Sky!!!
Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)
I wish there was a reply button for some of the reviews here! Anything less than a 9 out of 10 for this masterpiece is stupid
Some of the people have rated this show a 1 out of 10. And I understand why. The Plot is so well written, you won't even know the real storyline until season 3 or whatever. On the outside it seems a pretty simple story. Demons vs humans. Who will win? That is hardly the story at all... and even thinking that, I watched through the first 2 seasons. And even then I was hooked because of great story building and great great climaxes and actions and all. I thought season 1 ending was insane. Then season 2 came. I thought It was even crazier. Then season 3! A literal masterpiece... specially the second arc. and the 4th season is expected to be God Level. And I expect nothing less from the greatest anime of all time. That's how good the story is! It's complex yes. Greatest Plot I have ever seen on a show. I love breaking bad, I love Avatar the last air-bender, I love Game of thrones. But The story line, music, and the voice acting are all 10/10 easily. Do yourself a favor, don't judge it by it's cover, get through some quality anime till you reach God level story telling. You will thank me when you reach the season 3 finale, GUARANTEED!
