Saved and Remade (2021)
Truly horrible.programme.
Why would anyone bring anything precious to be "upcycled" (destroyed!) on this hideous show? The transformations wrought on their objects are nothing short of butchery - ludicrously conceived and clumsily executed, often with scant regard for the history or intrinsic worth of the items - beautiful longcase clock, for example, had its guts ripped out and was turned into a light. Often the new creations are hideously ugly - chairs made from old bicycles and so on. The makers lack personality as cast members (and that metalworker seriously needs to be introduced to a comb!) and the presentation is dull. Ghastly all round.
Drawers Off: Episode #1.1 (2021)
Awful.
If you're hoping to see a life drawing class then don't watch this travesty! The contestants often don't even try to paint or draw the model but dab and daub away, using materials that they don't know how to use and completely ignoring the few words of advice offered by the expert, Diana Ali. They seem to have no desire to learn or develop their abilities and so many of them are convinced that they know best and that they are true artists. Ali seems uncomfortable, not wanting to instruct and yet clearly struggling to find anything positive in the truly awful paintings. There's no professional critique at the end, instead the person who has modelled chooses the favourite representation of themselves - which must be an impossible task!
Murder, Mystery and My Family (2018)
Interesting - but often irritating.
Love the premise and when the cases being investigated are relatively recent- i.e.20th century - it's fine, but the really old cases seem to offer so little evidence that it's hard to see that any progress can be made.
The sentimental attachment some members of the public have to long-dead relatives they never knew can get irksome, as can the constant stating and restating of facts. But worst of all are the appalling "artist impression" drawings and hysterically bad reconstructions, in both of which absolutely no attention is paid to accuracy in costume.
