World's Most Wanted: Matteo Messina Denaro: Cosa Nostra's Last Godfather (2020)
The last but not the least
The atmosphere and suspense of this last episode is probably the best of the serie. Because the setting is the Cosa Nostra's Sicily, the interviews of old murderers and friend of Matteo Messina Denaro are terrifying, the rythm of the episode feels like a movie.
Good use of archival footage too, like in all previous episodes.
However just one thing : Denaro is sometimes portrayed as worst than he was. For exemple in the episodes of murders of judges and child, he was not the real person in charge.
World's Most Wanted: Semion Mogilevich: The Russian Mafia Boss (2020)
Difficult to watch
Coarse Background music is playing during almost all this episode and make it difficult to follow. But the problem is not just because of editing crudeness. The timeline of the story too is sometimes very hard to follow.
Even if there is one good point : Archivage footages at the begining of the episode are amazing. Too bad : This point of the story should have been used as climax of the episode in my opinion.
World's Most Wanted: Samantha Lewthwaite: The White Widow (2020)
The only woman of the show
This episode documents the only woman criminal of the 5 world's most wanted. This british muslim convert led terrible and bloody operations. Good interviews of the authorities tracking her.
World's Most Wanted: Félicien Kabuga: The Financer of the Genocide in Rwanda (2020)
Very bad man
Kabuga is arrested in the last 10 minutes of this episode (the only one of the serie) and this happy end is welcome ! This man is guilty of so many death and one of worst criminal of the show. Archival footages are sometimes very hard to watch !
World's Most Wanted: Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada Garcia: The Head of the Sinaloa Cartel (2020)
Not the best episode
« El Mayo » is an interesting narco criminal but the investigation of this episode is not the most persuasive. However, good archival shots.
World's Most Wanted (2020)
Not equal but some very good episodes
The serie is not about the most « notorious » criminals but the most wanted and this is the good point of the documentary. Not all episodes are equal (Number 1- Ismael Zambada- is not the more interesting and Number 4- Semion Mogilevich- look like a never-ending coarse trailer), but all of them use a lot of great (and bloody) archival shots and documents how these criminals managed to escape the authorities.
The last episode- Matteo Messina Denaro- takes place in the same location (Sicily) all 45 minutes long but keep you on the edge of your seat.
