Joshua (2007)
An Incredibly Crazy Movie
It was enjoyable most of the time, though I don't think it's anything I'll watch again (so it'd make a good rent).
That said, it really shows the parents steadily going crazy with the problems of the new child, and the family slowly falling apart. Joshua's part is very well done and creepy.
While some of it is a bit slow moving, it is made up for in the parts that give looks into Joshua's mind. The horror parts are horrifying (being 16, I can only imagine how hard the scene with Joshua/his dad near the end is to watch for a parent). The scenes showing the family slowly falling apart are quite depressing, the horror scenes are quite horrifying, and the whole movie is very intelligent. Not a full on horror movie, but certainly worth the time it takes to watch it.
When Evil Calls (2006)
Decent Movie, but has plenty of flaws
Let me get the flaws out of the way first (in no particular order except for the first one)
The Janitor who introduces all the segments is annoying as hell, REALLY bad digital effects (especially the CGI blood in parts of it), Some camera-work feels overdone, moving around too much w/out reason, The Janitor makes really bad, unfunny, annoying jokes, and feels the need to make really bad jokes and laugh like a maniac after each one, and The way that the wish text message is shown when people receive it is okay at first...but gets annoying after a few times
Side note (not a problem or a pro...just there): -The clown in this looks suspiciously like the one from Stephen King's IT
That's all the big flaws
--It does have an interesting enough story, is entertaining, and for those who look into this when getting a movie, it contains a decent amount of nudity.
I would't watch it again by myself (though I don't regret watching it)...i would watch it again with a few friends to have fun pointing out all the dumb things/mistakes and making fun of the movie
Death Ride (2006)
No matter what, don't watch this movie unless your life depends on it (and even then be hesitant)
i give this movie a one only because you can't put zeros or halves if i could i would sue the writer, director, actors, and everyone else involved in this film's production for the time in my life this movie took away. I could (and am working on)write much better and I can act much better than them too. I have nothing against low budget movies but this movie isn't low budged, it's nonexistent budget. No blood, no gore, no plot, no meaningful dialouge, no acting that doesn't suck more than anything i've ever seen (and i've seen some really bad acting), no climax, no anything at all which makes a movie bearable.
I would've stopped watching it by halfway through but I thought it might improve by the end, it didn't and it sucked through
This is truly a horror movie...but not in a good way, the horror is in the fact that it was actually made and you are watching it
Wrong Turn (2003)
Great Slasher
I just watched this movie and I absolutely loved it. Both some psychological horror and some "boo" moments. Overall a great, bloody slasher with a decent amount of blood and gore. I look forward to the sequel which is currently in the works.
This actually scared me at some parts (and I am incredibly hard to scare)
Someone who commented before me says that it needs more of everything, that person, is totally wrong. My only complaint (and it's not anything that takes away from the movie being really good) is that the deaths could have been a little more gruesome, as they are, they are still decently bloody and all, overall at a good level.
