Rock Star (2001)
Wannabe actually hits the big time.
Not a bad movie, especially if you miss rock-n-roll from the 80s. Wannabe in a cover band hits it big with the real thing. It's a typical rock movie with no real surprises, but it manages to hold your attention with decent acting (even Jennifer Aniston which REALLY surprised me) and (for the most part) GREAT music. There are a few musical selections which leave me scratching my head. Most notably would be the INXS song. Anyone into 80s metal wouldn't have been caught DEAD listening to this!!!!! (Take my word for I'm a hair metal headbanger!). The costumer designer obviously didn't live in the 80s era either as far as Jennifer A. was concerned!!!!!! Where were the ripped jeans, etc etc. But overall definitely a watchable movie.
Babycakes (1989)
Fat chick......gorgeous guy.........
This movie was actually pretty good. Let's all remember to judge it by the standards in the time period in which the film was made! It was a bit anti-climatic at the end but Craig Sheffer and Ricki Lake were sweet to watch together. It you watch this movie as the light entertainment it is, I think you'll really like it!
Uncommon Valor (1983)
one of the best movies I've seen! A bit better editing/directing and it would have been a mega-hit.
Other than a little rough editing/directing this movie is my all-time favorite.......the only movie I ever choked up on and the only one I've ever owned.......I think Gene Hackman is great, but Reb Brown and Randall "Tex" Cobb really stood out in this movie for me. I think the biggest problem was that it was too short and didn't completely live up to it's potential........I wanted it to last longer!
