Glass Onion (2022)
An exciting murder mystery that can be figured out early if you really pay attention
Glass Onion is the anticipated sequel in the Knives Out franchise, directed by Rian Johnson. Once I saw Knives Out in 2019, I fell in love with the incredible story telling from Johnson and his amazing world building, interweaving different relationship between characters. With its star studded cast, this movie is no different. Once you get through all the other character introductions, the story takes off on a wild chase with twists and turns the normal moviegoer may not see coming.
For the more experienced murder mystery readers and watchers, they tend to look at all the little details and nuances in different interactions. So, after watching about half of the movie, I had a feeling about the direction we were going but not know the specific journey we would take to get there.
Even with my experience with these type of stories, I enjoyed this just as much as the first one and I can't wait for the next one. I really wish IMDb had the option to allow users with half scores. I give Glass Onion a 7.5/10.
Wednesday (2022)
I understand the hype on TikTok now
For the people who aren't versed in the universe of social media, you wouldn't really know that Wednesday is having the same effect on Gen Z as Stranger Things and Top Gun: Maverick, IT'S BLOWING UP EVERYWHERE! When I began to see the countless amounts of TikTok's of people dancing and imitating the mannerisms of Wednesday Addams, I knew I had to take the time to sit and watch the culture phenomenon for myself.
I have seen some of the Addams Family movies in the past but they were never my things to be honest. With that being said, I didn't really have some idea of where this show was going to go. After taking 2 days to finish I can confidently say that I like what I have seen. Jenna Ortega's performance of Wednesday Addams was top tier. Watching her portray this dark and moody teenager in the beginning turn in to a less moody teenager that deep down cares about the people close in her life was truly special. Also watching a hand as a sassy sidekick was as entertaining as can be since he has no mouth. I give Wednesday an 8/10, good on the verge of something great.
Spirited (2022)
Fun retelling of a classic story that can be predictable at times
It's the most wonderful time of the year and here comes a new player in the battle of screen time during your holiday movie watching. Spirited was a fun retelling of the classic story "A Christmas Carol" with a little bit of a twist. I would sat that the music and the effects they used in the movie were the best parts of this movie for me. Of course, the chemistry between Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds was very fun to watch. The two of them are very upbeat and seem to be the best at improvisation and I began to wonder if certain scenes were a battle of who can be funnier.
If you are on the fence about watching this movie, watch it. Grab some popcorn and your loved ones and watch an entertaining Christmas movie, after you rewatch The Santa Clause, Home Alone, and Jim Carey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
