It's hard to get past Kristen Wiigs bad accent
23 March 2024
Just the opening credits set us on edge as we watched the opening, and my wife and I looked at each other and asked the question "Is she going to sound like that the entire show?". Answer is yes.

It's a pretty rehashed story, and there isn't a lot of originality to the story, but it's reasonably well done and there certainly are some great talents attached to the show and the costume team set teams did a great job nailing the period.

Other than that, if your bored or not watching anything else of note then it's a really good way to kill some time, but there are other shows that you would get more out of.

Season 2 Lives Up To The Book
27 January 2024
Casting is top notch, hands down season 2 exceeded season 1. They nailed the special investigators and of all the books they could adapt, this one really plays to Reachers history and the legacy of the 110th.

Lots of action, a very accurate representation of the plot, and the characters and the acting hits the right balance of fun and buying into the themes that Lee writes the books.

One can not forget to mention that the lead, Alan Ritchson really nails the role and the essence of who Reacher is as a character, but he adds something, it's a little more humour, some wry humour would be a better way to state it.

All in all this season hits and hits well 9/10 for me.

Not a real insiders story
21 January 2024
Originally this was suppose to be a Justin Timberlake vehicle, and well, not sure he could have saved it. This had been done before and a lot better.

Easily could have shaved off 30 minutes and the lead was just not likeable or even easy to watch. You don't get a lot of the insiders perspective that you think you are going to get, and a lot of the dreamy sequences are just over done and contrived with motivational moments. The Zach Morris speaking to the audience as a plot driver really falls flat.

What I will say is the actors playing the musicians really had the voices down pat, and that was the upside.

Harkens back to Old School Disney
3 January 2024
This reminded me of when I used to see the old Disney stuff with Hayley Mills or early Kurt Russel stuff.

It's fun, family friendly, excellent writing, great casting across the board. David Thewlis as Fagin is just a scene stealer, Thomas Brodie-Sangster is great and so utterly likeable as the Dodger and Maia Mitchel is channeling Hayley Mills in such a modern way that it's hard not to smile when she does.

Big fan of the show, really would love to see Disney make more fare like this, it's what a show should really be and I would love to see something done with Bed Knobs and Broomsticks, The Ghosts of Buxley-Hall or even the Dexter Riley trilogy.

This is fun, and there should be more of it!!!
