The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Kiss My Butler (1990)
Naomi Campbell
Very enjoyable episode like most of the series.
The main reason of this review is the then 20 years old Naomi Campbell on her way to the supermodel status.
iCarly: iMeet the First Lady (2012)
The America we love
Because I too hate spoilers let me put it in this way:
A must see! This episode is a pure gem.
It has good humor and the presence of Michelle Obama interacting with the cast is totally enjoyable. Not to be missed.
The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008)
One star is too much
I wish I had the option of Zero - star voting! The plot? Non-existent. The dialogs? What dialogs? The acting? What acting? The directing? What directing? This abomination should be avoided totally! Let's face it, X-files was bad from the beginning. Great music theme, yes! Interesting concept, yes. Acting and suspense was OK till 3rd season. Some of the episodes are really very well made and worthy of a re-run. But this is beyond any bad description. It is not even bad, it is nothing! I wish some kind of committee will form to demand a punishment for circulating such low quality production. Stay away, as far as you can. I wanted to believe but now I just want to forget. Very unprofessional behavior from all parties. Including the appearance out of thin air of Skinner.
The Cutter (2005)
Chuck has turned 65
An action film starring Chuck Norris. Now, before anything else let me remind you the birth-year of Chuck, 1940. Yes, our beloved Chuck has turned 65 years old. The story is an interesting one involving the theft of a jewelry referred in Jewish scriptures which are badly presented on the film (cut for timing reasons). Chuck Norris along with all the other co-actors gives a persuading all-around performance with almost all the typical violent scenes revolving around diamonds, hence the title- someone "cuts" the diamonds). A low-budget film without the parade of smashing cars. A round picture without faults but nothing to write home about. A 6 out of 10.
Elektra (2005)
Never saw the end
The best part of this film is its poster. In it you can see the square facial lines of the starring character, very interesting, BUT! The story doesn't exist. The dialogs are empty words. The backgrounds are good for nothing. I just couldn't get to the end of this film. Sorry Elektra, but my vote of 3 goes not to your acting, but to your training hours with the Sais. There is nothing to be gained from this viewing experience. Have you ever heard of bad commercial products? Well, this is the official definition. Keep clear. There are movies to be seen and there are movies better left alone. This Elektra tragedy is definitely of the latter kind. By the way "Daredevil" wasn't as bad as some would make you think.
Star Trek: Voyager (1995)
The Star Trek legend lives on
Voyager - 7 seasons on DVD. This is a must see. Backgrounds, stories, characters, are all first class. An excellent work of modern TV drama. Following entirely the Gene Roddenberry's vision, this show is indeed a prime derivative. It would be unfair to mention any name in particular. The integration of roles, stories and dialog is remarkable. If you ever liked a sci-fi film then these DVD boxes contain a treasure. From very important social issues, through galactic perils and humor, the crew of Voyager along with its creative team will take you really where no man has gone before. Packaging is robust and typical. All seasons contain extra material. Audio and Video take a 10 in 10. Enjoy the ride in the 4th Quadrant. This is an order.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Thank god the main actors have grown up
This is not a good movie, it is a result of excellent marketing. The tricks and effects are good but then the best films would be about theater magicians and illusionists. Does not even worth renting. Most of the effects are a repetition of the previous ones. Hopefully, the probability of a Harry IV are very thin, thanks to the fact that everyone grows up, as in this movie the aging of faces and ideas clearly shows up. A hint to film lovers: A big part of the overall success of the Harry Potter phenomenon seems to be the absence of anything deep enough to think or debate.
Big Fish (2003)
See this fish and believe
This is a movie to prove that civilization is not an empty word. Tall lies, horror snippets, humor, family joys and troubles, relations and work, war and peace ... everything parades in front of our eyes. The circus, engagements rings, a normal Giant, a Giant, cutting the lawn, earning your first buck, learning the name of your love, we are talking Big Fish here. And, oh boy, you ain't seen nothing you ain't laughed yet you ain't even cried yet. Funny thing these tears. They seem to come up in so many situations.
Dear Tim Burton, Actresses and Actors, Support characters and crew, thank you for this Classic of the 3rd Millennium!
Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003)
Don't overlook this diamond!
Almost every movie is an excellent movie when you start watching films. As one gets familiar with the tricks of the trade then it becomes harder and harder to be amazed or at least pleased with the content. Now, this film is a masterpiece. I voted for it a 10! Its only flaw comes from the votes of mainly an audience educated in animation art for at least 70 years now. Americans is a tough audience. Don't overlook this diamond.
The Simpsons: Hit & Run (2003)
One of the best
OK, ok, the bonus game is not worth the effort of collecting cards. My angle is this: Try 1600 x 1200. Now, glorious animation oozes out of your monitor. I give it a solid 9. Just remember, it's only a game. TIP: Don't use mouse look, use arrow keys and space for handbrake. Git aout of the vay!!
The Animals Film (1981)
See the future of "humanity"
Just 4 (four) comments, so far! The truth hurts. No button for buying this 'monsterpiece'. So, would you kill your cat to make a small rug and use the eyes along with your stereo lightshow? Of course you must eat but is this civilization? No, no and no. We are talking about the famous quote from The Matrix. Humans are a disease. I have not stopped having tears every time I remember this film. We are living in the biggest slaughterhouse in a billion solar systems. How in the future can you land on a planet and start baking the residents while at the same time have the idea that you are a civilized and a moral species? Only by burning this and similar films and executing the viewers. We have a long way to go before we fully appreciate the miracle of life. Until then "Flow my tears"
Black Knight (2001)
Martin is goood - the whole cast is goood
"I have no beef with you, dog!" Not a classic but a very refreshing movie. Well above the middle scale. Nice scenery - well worked dialogs and the general performance is very acceptable. Definitely a 7+
Ratataplan (1979)
Brilliant
I just want to express my disappointment in that a DVD version can't be found in order to enjoy this excellent piece of film. It's an Italian movie worth every minute of it. If you come across it don't bypass it.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
R U serious;
Take computer graphics out and what do you get; Nothing. May be the first film had some grace in it, but this film is so weak. I can only suggest to voters to consult IMDB's Top 250 films. Then ask yourself: Have I seen the 50 (20%) out of 250; If the answer is No then please don't vote because you have a computer and clicking is easy.
The X Files (1998)
Good actors
The story: like most episodes, blur and covering the weakness with plot within plot excuse. The effects: Minimal, without any fresh ideas. Acting: All actors are good, they were as always the pillars of an otherwise mediocre, weak and "all are a conspired conspiracy" feature. Aliens with far superior technology don't need smokers to conquer a planet already conquered by themselves.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Effects yes, movie No
Having seen both films I now wait for Matrix 3. Effects aside Matrix 2 is a commercial exploitation. Remember the ending -- To be concluded -- Don't go to the theaters, wait for the DVD to appear then borrow it from some friend.
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (2000)
Have a Comic de Niro on animation
In a not deep but certainly emotional story one can enjoy this movie very much. Technically takes an A plus. Most people should enjoy this fresh mix of live actors and animators.
The First Emperor of China (1990)
A fine product
It will not make you a historian of China, but it certainly worth every minute of its time. When you feel like seeing too much shooting this film is a blessing. Just follow the actors.
Lion of the Desert (1980)
A hidden diamond
Historic filming is defined by this movie. It has more. Follow the power play depicted in here and suddenly it's not history anymore. We are talking about timeless patterns, a definite masterpiece. Picture quality on a region 2 DVD gets a C minus.
Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000)
By far the best in graphics and sound, but ...
The most linear in the series, except the tight rope move the strategy remains the same. Shoot jumping, push everything, search all, grab all, revisit. The gaming remains the same but this is the most audiovisually perfect of all Lara's adventures. Play and play again, you are in love now.
Tomb Raider II (1997)
She looks up, jumps drawing her guns... in hicolor & 3D Lara
Lara Croft, 1997. Reason to upgrade your system. Technology meets mass production meeting the art of videogaming. In Pacman (1980) you were responsible for the hero moving in a maze with enemies and bonus items ... Now with graphic cards and memory and cpu upgrades, Tomb Raider II or the Lara Croft legend starts here. A classic.
Breathing Together: Revolution of the Electric Family (1971)
Just look at the names
This is something we must see. The date seems to be perfect. Shot in Canada for the already known reasons. Now, where on the Net lies this historic film?
The Watcher in the Woods (1980)
Not for kids, really. But if you are over 15 then listen if
Not for kids, really. But if you are over 15 then listen if you dare just the soundtrack. For 18 and up
This is thriller. (lll)
The Abyss (1989)
The real story is on the DVD
The special edition on DVD is really the film An absolute must see Compare the two editions (on the same DVD) Thank you DVD
