An enjoyable lighthearted watch
10 April 2023
An enjoyable lighthearted watch with a good solid cast , nonsensical spy trends, but perfectly acceptable light entertainment value . Usual wise cracks and ridiculous plots but fun to watch . Don't know why some reviewers are so harsh judges ...it lacks the foul language and gore but it has great actors who are a pleasure to watch and enough intrigue and suspenseful action so it's okay and free with Amazon Prime ( maybe I'd feel different if I had to pay and view at the cinema but then a lot of movies I often feel I was so glad that I hadn't seen at the cinema theatre and this is definitely not one in that category) . It's good enough to recommend.

A decent watch
25 February 2023
I didn't care much for the title much but after watching the excerpts , I felt I should give it a try .

A decent thrilling movie - not bad at all , ........not sure why there are such harsh criticisms out there , but I enjoyed it - a good way to spend an evening in - though slightly far fetched of course but which movie isn't these days ?

Filming special effect were good , and kept things suspenseful throughout . Yes I felt that time was not wasted , completely watchable.

The fire scenes were realistic and brought home the horrors that affect parts of California and Europe . The boy that played Connor did a good job too.

Perfectly watchable !

An amazing film - very well recommended watch!
7 January 2023
Wasn't expecting much from this film but so pleased I didn't pass it over .

Great casting and acting. Viggo Mortensen an eccentric cynical but passionate cave rescuer , and Colin Farrell surperb unassuming acting , supported well by Joel Edgerton and many of the Thai actors

Unbelievable filming of underwater scenes creating a thrilling heart stopping emotional ride .

Was not aware of the method used to rescue the boys except that they happily survived .

This was approached as a docufilm style but had good character development of both rescuers and families involved .

Very unassuming but definitely a good watch !

Wow ! Unexpected pleasure to watch
30 December 2022
A great fast paced series with twists and turns and varying storylines set in Tokyo in 1990s

Fantastic performances , with admirable use of the Japanese language from Ansel Elgort and Rachel Keller .

The character development was steady and empathic even for the baddies !

I couldn't wait to watch the next episodes and felt bitterly disappointed when it ended abruptly with so many precarious loose ends untied.

Hurry up Series 2 ( and 3 please ) !

Good insight into the Yakuza and japan underworld as well as pop culture- love Japan and this series only wants me to revisit!

A great procedural drama Bravo !

Wow ! Suspenseful naval drama , such a fitting tribute

Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this movie as much as I did !

Procedural action movie from the perspective of the Captain set in a cold bleak ocean during WW2 I was blown away by the suspense and dramatisation of life of a newly appointed captain , escorting a fleet of ships across the Atlantic and how clever the opposition's tactics were .

Touching gritty performance by Tom Hanks who made the role his own and great support from S Graham ( the scouse accent so cleverly hidden! ) A shame the film ended after 90 mins .

Lovely that the diction was clear and understandable- no garbled mutterings , no gratuitous profanity .

Watch this for great storytelling and acting but don't bother if you want character development or Marvel like action . It certainly gave a good insight into the sacrifices made during WW2 from a different perspective seldom covered by war movie genres .

Prepared for a traditional ghost story .....but still jumped of my skin twice !
19 November 2022
I was prepared for a traditional ghost story and followed the story trying to guess plot twists but I still managed to jump of my skin .....twice! .

I had goosebumps and could feel my hairs standing on end - no gory CGI effects here , just solid acting and subtle suggestions of plot direction. .

Wow ! To think that I nearly missed it on iPlayer too .

Not sure of the low reviews - maybe expecting cgi finale instead of the end result ? .

Watch it if you enjoy solid traditional ghost stories but it will keep you guessing until the end.

Ending was a bit rushed perhaps but like this review no point carrying on and on.

Good enough for me !
16 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Recently watched the rerun of Spooks TV series on iPlayer so happy to be able to see this movie version spin off .I wasn't really expecting much to start off with, but it was a good standalone version . Also very nice that they managed to keep some of the original characters from the TV series .

Desperately tried to work out who the new lead actor was related to from an earlier tv episode perhaps, but a bit of a red herring.

Harry Pierce enjoyed his role and so glad not bumped off in the first few minutes .

This movie ticked all the boxes for me and I enjoyed it much more than I expected - I really wished they would bring back Spooks again !

Absolutely bonkers , and not for me
3 September 2022
Beautifully filmed and everyone hamming it up . Started up promising but then I completely lost the plot.... I was prepared to give it a chance and watched it till the end ....urghh unbearable in parts ...couldn't wait till it finished .

Yeah yeah I get the message love can be found in even the worst situations no matter how desperately bad or bleak .

Michelle Yeoh great and Jamie Lee Curtis a real treat - she made it tolerable .

Not for me am too old ,...or not old enough !

Why do I need 600 characters to post ? Unbelievable............................................................................................................................................

Predictable but still scary... for me !
15 July 2022
Perhaps not being used to watching horror genre I myself was scared to watch some scenes, and surprised of such a low rating .

Haven't watched the other Grudge movies so maybe unable to compare to a high standard like other reviewers .

The story is told in flashbacks and overall quite watchable .

Loved this period drama!
11 July 2022
Loved this period drama , with well developed characters in the first season and attention to detail in costumes and storylines made exciting viewing if not with rather gory realism .

The second season was more of the same except Dr Laszlo Kreizler's has been sent to the back room whilst Sara's strong independent character leads the way. I was hoping for a happy romantic union for John Moore - this was teased throughout, but .......sigh!

I hope they will make a third season.

An introduction to financial schemes smoke and mirrors , was an eye opener and brought to the screen by a fabulous array of talented actors.

Enjoyable and the exposure of John Doe was unexpected!

A rambling aimless journey
1 June 2022
I watched this because of Toni Collette's appearance in another star performance series- but after the first couple of episodes it was hard work to maintain an interest.

By the time I reached ep 5 , I decided I could not waste any more energy on this and jumped to the last episode which at least gave some closure.

Very disappointed overall but at least Toni Collette made it bearable in the beginning .

Wish I took the advice of another reviewer and jumped to the last episode after Ep3 .

Enjoyable movie with lovable characters
29 May 2022
Enjoyed watching this movie - it was a good distraction from daily routine , lighthearted and interesting enough to keep my attention. Mark Wahlberg has a great bod from his workouts and the action scenes and choreography just great .

I particularly loved seeing Boston one of my favourite places to visit stateside and so appropriate for Mark W to be the main star , but the supporting actors equally endearing! A good movie to watch !

Knowing little about Cuban history on this side of the world, this movie was interesting , enlightening and suspenseful, with great expressive performances.

20 May 2022
Enjoyed this clever, paced , movie - predictable in parts but with an unusual twist revealed - just when you think you had it sussed .

Some violent gory bits too with vulgar language used sparingly to add to the characterisation.

Dame Helen Mirren and Sir Ian Mckellen are always a pleasure to watch.

Looked promising , but ...
19 May 2022
Muddled confusing and too many disjointed subplots... leading to not sure where !

The language was not correct for the time I persevered with this series and only by the second half certain scenes made sense and picked up the pace , but most of it was a complete pointless muddle .

The best parts were watching Keeley Hawes and her 'father' .

Still brilliant!
17 May 2022
I watched this when it was originally aired on BBC tv but decided to rewatch it again recently and as I couldn't remember who the characters were apart from Dave Budd's role I found it highly entertaining and suspenseful and happily binge watched the series over 2 days. I think it was more enjoyable the second time round with subtitles and ability to pause rewind scenes . Can't wait for the second series to be filmed.

Interesting serial killer drama with plausible characters , the personal history of the main lead actor overlaps in flashbacks gives insight into her family dynamics.

Constant rain creates an unusual atmosphere Look forward to watching the other two parts of this interesting trilogy.

Started out promising but .....
7 May 2022
This looked like it could be a great movie with interesting storylines but it was way too long and drawn out , plus gory in parts , and became too predictable .

The background music didn't seem to fit in some places , plus it tried to tackle too many major subjects , so I'm not able to say I enjoyed this as much as I hoped to.

Watchable action movie about cars and a corruption plot . Though not much dialogue from the main actor he had some cool choreographed moves . A different approach but movie should have been called the mechanic!
