The Right Mom (2021)
Sobering Drama
The movie is sobering but it is good. The auntie, jenny, really does care about Billy when it seems most staff don't, they see just another beat up kid. It's sobering because Jenny was terminated and slapped with a restraining order all for being the only one really trying to help Billy. In addition, the mother Rachel was a sociopath - she beat Billy, she feels she can discipline her child any way she sees fit and she killed Billy's dog! I personally didn't care for the ending.
Billy was released into the care of his new auntie Ruth an older woman and the guardian was Ellen the social worker at the hospital. Jenny had Billy at her house she said to babysit often, the ending never said she adopted him or not. I'm not sure it's implied. It would have been nice to know if Rachel went to jail and got the mental health treatment she desperately needed and also, if Billy found a new permanent home. To me that's crucial to know since the movie is called The Right Mom.
Finally, I felt some parts of the movie was unrealistic. I used to work in the hospital and a law firm in the US and that's not how child abuse cases are handled. I don't even know how the stepdad was a suspect because he had just got home whereas Rachel had been home all night with Billy. Also, social services would have taken him immediately, filed for an emergency petition due to the abuse, no matter who did it until they can investigate further. In the movie defense, maybe it was set in another country with different child abuse laws.
Unbridled (2017)
Terrible
This movie was terrible. I don't understand how people liked the movie. There were numerous plot issues.
#1 Kenny. Kenny is a high school student and a minor. However Kenny works with the 1 police officer in town to go get Sarah help, get Sarah in the treatment center, and help the 1 officer find his daughter. Question, where is Kenny's parents?
#2 Karen. Um, why is Karen not arrested? This woman let her boyfriend sell her daughter as a prostitute under her own roof in own house! Like what? And we're made to believe it's because she was drunk? Back up to the beginning though when Sarah was trying to leave the house, Roger stopped her from leaving and was discussing in the kitchen with Karen that he needed to take Sarah with him just one more time. Then when she got back from bring sold she had a boxed gift for her that Sarah didn't want understandably. So the mother knew what was going on, yet she did not call the police, she did not try to escape, she did not try to get her daughter sent somewhere else, she did nothing. She was an accomplice and with the money he got from abusing these kids, she took his gifts. His dirty gifts tainted with pain and abuse of innocent children. Yet, at the end of the movie she is said to protect her daughter! That is a lie! She needs to be arrested, parental rights terminated and never allowed to have contact with her kid again and go on the sex offender list! She was a terrible mother! A good mother would lay her life down to protect her child. She didn't even confront him for what he did.
3. Sarah. This girl has been sold as a prostitute and we're made to believe the girl is made better by riding a horse? Really. That is some deep psychological scars that needs way more than a horse.
That's all I'm saying. This movie sucked.
Darkness Falls (2003)
Much Less Scarier As An Adult
My dad was cruel. He turned this movie on for me when I was was 8 years old at night then turned out all the lights. I couldn't sleep for a week. However now at 25. I watched the movie at night and I'm writing this review in my dark room about to go to sleep. Not even shaken but it was nice a movie. It's not so bad where you're spooked afterwards but good enough for some jumps. I know some reviews talk about poor script. I thought the script was kinda like other horror movies, sometimes the dialogue isn't all that good but the movie isn't really about dialogue - not thriller/horror.

The Nanny Knows (2022)
Terrible Movie with Thin, Lacklustre Plot
The girl was wow, just wow. There was lights on in that house but no one was there. I don't see how it is any of her business if her boss is having an affair. I don't see why nor how she was hired for the job - she legit had no experience. Caroline asked her no questions about her childcare experience at all. I don't see how someone in business is qualified as a nanny.
I was too through when Kimberly knew the Spanish tutor was dead and when talking to Caroline on web chat, Caroline said stay away from her if you see her (referring to the aunt) Kimberly asked "the tutor?", Uh what? The tutor is DEAD. What? Huh? How would you be seeing the dead tutor?
Then when someone was in her house she heard someone twice but rather than leave & call the cops, she stays in and nearly gets stabbed to death. Also, what criminal goes to kill someone with no weapon? They looked in Kimberly's drawer for a knife. That made no sense.
The end, the motive made 0 sense. She killed the tutor and tried to frame the ex because she was worried about people gossiping? Huh? What? Then the end fight scene was dumb af. Gabe knocked the gun out her hand and rather than Kimberly grab the gun and keep the villain down. She stands and screams Gabe's name literally doing nothing. The villain could have went for the gun again but decided to get a huge knife that was conveniently sitting there and Kimberly smacked her in the face with a laptop. Then Kimberly & Gabe kiss. This movie was bad, very bad. It was a total waste of my 2.99.
Swim (2021)
Movie Was So Bad It Was Hilarious
This movie sucked. The acting was atrocious, it was as if the director casted people from off the street with no acting history or knowledge. The facial expressions were exaggerated like a bad reality show. The movie was not realistic to how people would act in life threatening situations. For example, no one would sacrifice their aged grandfather for a distant friend of the family, ie Becky. I despised Becky, I felt they should have sacrificed her to the shark. No one grieved for the grandpa, it was like no one cared the grandpa was murdered by the shark. That is not realistic. I also could not stand Tucker, he knew he heard his sister calling him and the entire movie his concern was only Becky, he did not care about his grandpa, mom, sister nor dad. It was so unrealistic, no family would be like that. Most families are ride or die. Take Frozen for example.
The Ice Road (2021)
I Have One Question
I have one question. Why did they have to kill Gurty like that? I disliked this movie because I did not see the purpose in having Gurty in the movie as a disabled veteran then kill him. I personally have people in my family that are veterans and I didn't appreciate that.
Ben & Jerry's Clash of the Cones (2021)
I Love The TV Show!!!
I love the TV show, I think it is clean and fun for the whole family. I don't see why there is so much hate for the show. I personally watch Food Network TV Shows such as "Chopped" and "Kid's Baking Championship". I love that they took their recipes to the public to taste, I prefer that than the same judges to keep tasting the food. In regards to the reviews about the hostess being too "happy", there is nothing wrong with her energy, I found it refreshing. There was nothing phony to me at all, I recommend everyone to give it a try.
Music (2021)
I Don't See Why There Is So Much Backlash
I have never heard of this movie until my mom picked it out. I like Sia's music, so I was very confused by the backlash that was so bad that she deleted her Twitter account. From all of the articles I read online the backlash tends to be about her casting a non autistic girl to play Music. I understand where the Autism community is coming from, but have you ever seen 'What's eating Gilbert's grape?' That movie features a special needs child named Arny and he is played by Leonardo Dicaprio, someone who is not special needs. Also, have you seen 'The Other Sister'? Daniel and Carla are both played by people who are not special needs. Finally, have you seen 'Profoundly Normal'? There is nothing wrong with Kristie Alley. For me, I seen the movie and its okay. I don't particularly like the dancing scenes. I know she was trying to capture what is going on inside autistic children's heads and it was okay. It was just different. All in all, I say 5 stars.
Frozen II (2019)
Frozen 2 & the 5th Spirit
I definitely like Frozen 2, I feel that it gives a complete story. Here's what I caught about Frozen 2.
#1. At 44:40 While in the Northuldra camp Honeymaren used Elsa and Anna's mother shawl to explain the elements even more. She said there is a 5th spirit, said to be "the bridge between us and the magic of nature".
#2. At 1:00:12 - 1:08:25 Elsa risked her life to cross the dark sea, she also froze to death after going deep into Ahtohallan and finding out the truth about the past. She risked her life to find out the truth.
#3. At 1:03:16 Elsa sings "Show Yourself" and realizes she is the 5th spirit. I would have assumed that she alone was the 5th spirit because of the elemental dress she received, hearing the voice, and being able to settle 3 of the 4 spirits. However, certain factors moving forward made it evident that the position of 5th spirit was not solely Elsa.
#4. At 1:09:56 Anna receives the message about the past from Elsa. She discerns that her grandfather, King Runeard of Arendelle, was responsible for the war. He was using the dam as a trick, to weaken the Northuldra and he attacked a man who had no weapon. She discerned that although she loved her people and the land of her birth, the dam had to be destroyed even if that meant flooding her kingdom.
#5. At 1:17:19 After Anna sings an emotional and heartbreaking, "The Next Right Thing" - she immediately concocts a plan to destroy the dam. A very brave and selfless decision since she just lost Elsa and Olaf. If she destroyed the dam she would lose her kingdom too. At that point she didn't know doing that would bring back Elsa and she in turn would save Arendelle, she was motivated to do what was best for everyone even if that meant more loss for her.
#6. At 1:17:35 - 1:20:50 Anna wakes up the rock giants and leads them to the dam. Something that she knew was dangerous, one of those boulders could have easily hit her. She also persuaded the soldiers to help her in her quest. In addition, while on the dam and encouraging the giants to throw their boulders, Anna almost falls with the dam but Matias and Kristoff save her in time. Like Elsa, Anna risked her life as well. Elsa risked her life for the truth and Anna risked her life to do what was best for everyone to free the enchanted forest and give Arendelle a future.
#7. At 1:22:46 By their combined actions; Elsa gaining the truth and Anna aiding the breaking of the dam, they worked together to free not only the enchanted forest but also restore Arendelle.
I still would have thought Elsa was solely the 5th spirit even after the dust settled, but at 1:25:24 when Anna asked if Elsa found the 5th spirit and she assumes Elsa is the 5th spirit, that she is the bridge. Frozen 2 directors/writers could have left it at that. However, they did not. Elsa corrects Anna and says "a bridge has 2 sides and mother had 2 daughters, we did this together, and we will continue to do this together."
For me it made sense. I didn't understand why Elsa had powers and Anna had none. I didn't understand why Frozen had 2 sisters, I didn't get the purpose of it until Frozen 2. How I interpreted both part 1 & 2 was Elsa and Anna are the bridge that Honeymaren talked about. The bridge between the magic of nature and people. Elsa is clearly part of the magic of nature and stands on the side of the bridge with magic and Anna is on the other side of the bridge with people. Together they make up the 5th spirit. Together they righted the wrong of the past, freed the enchanted forest, and restored Arendelle. It also makes sense to me that the film ended with them both in leadership roles, Anna as Queen and Elsa as Protector of the Enchanted Forest, their bond of love and unity can keep the peace between the two kingdoms and fight off any future threats.
The notion that Elsa and Anna are both the 5th spirit was further strengthened when I watched the Good Morning America interview with Jennifer Lee, the writer and co-director of Frozen 1 & 2. At 3:51 when asked about the 5th element, Lee said "the subtle piece that I liked and that's important is that it's called a bridge and a bridge has 2 sides. So, Elsa and Anna are both the 5th spirit to me because it's their sisterhood, that's the bond..
The Boarder (2018)
Great movie with complicated characters
Jake was a complicated character, different than other psycho's in Lifetime movies, he didn't steal from the mother, didn't harm her until the end and stood to gain nothing. All he wanted was a relationship with the mother, seemed to genuinely care for her. True, he killed 2 people in the movie but, that makes him more complicated. I felt for him because he had no family nor friends, he seemed lonely and he was mentally ill. He was on clozapine and lithium carbonate, not sure if he was taking his meds. He said he felt alone and he thought he found someone who cared about him, but she was using him. Again, great movie with complex characters. One thing bothers me a little about all Lifetime movies, I hate how they portray mental illness, it's like all people who are mentally ill are crazy or dangerous, which is totally not true. Aside from that, I enjoy complicated characters, Jake for some reason reminds me of Secret Window Mort.
Long Lost Daughter (2018)
Great plot twist!
I was convinced until the last 3 minutes that Michelle wasn't the little girl that was lost, however some factors changed my mind. #1 The little girl in the beginning was clearly leaving, the way she looked at her mother and told her she loved her was as if she was never coming back. #2 Michelle, the protagonist, never seemed bothered by Cathy, she seemed to really like her and enjoy her company. She even defended her and said she was decent. #3 When Michelle was locked in that old room and got up off the bed and sniffed the bunny, why do that if you know you aren't Michelle? Also, when she tore up the room, it was as if she was looking for something. An average person would not know there was a cassette tape in the vent. Michelle actually felt around for the tape, like she was sure something was there. #4 Michelle must have kept in contact with Cathy in order for her to know that Michelle was pregnant and send a gift. If this psycho, crazy woman locked you in a bedroom under the false belief that you are her daughter, why feed into her delusions? Better yet, why talk to her at all? Michelle seemed happy at Cathy's gift, she smiled as she read the card from Cathy and hugged that bunny to her and the way she smiled when her husband told her that she needed to tell Cathy the truth said it all. Michelle was the little girl from the beginning the whole time. Not sure if it was to get revenge against her dad or maybe because she missed her mom, either way, she was Michelle and I was thoroughly surprised.
Dark Tide (2012)
Great thriller
I watched the movie with my mom, we found it scary at times and thrilling. We liked it.
