Night Sky (2022)
Marvelous character building ...
... of two characters in two hours. Outstanding acting brought the elderly Yorks to life. Even younger audiences can appreciate the personal health secrets they keep from each other, and the trepidation they hold as they face a limited future.
I'm certain the writers sought depth, but they lost some viewers by dropping in new characters with no depth. Adding questions without results - then finding out we got into Prime so late there is no Season Two to offer answers is too much. We applaud getting to know the Yorks, but that's not enough to watch an open-ended single-year series that appears hopeless.
Goliath (2016)
What Happened . . .
To Season 2 writers? And some of the actors look so much alike that a shave/or lack of a shave is confusing. "Depraved" comes to mind regarding subplots. At times Billy seems to just telegraph his lines as though he finds them lacking as much as we do. Yes, we're four years late and binging on Season 1 as 2020 ends seems appropriate. However, does Season 3 hold any promise of what Season 1 gave?
The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin (1967)
Funfilled Escapism
This oldie finally showed up again -- and I hope it continues to bring laughter to many others. Watching Roddy McDowall reminds me how long he has entertained us, too often without recognition. Karl Malden makes a wonderful villain, in so many guises!! Susanne Pleshette shows off her singing talent while appearing to have a ball making this movie. In fact, it appears everyone involved enjoyed their work. The plot moves from Boston (after the reading of a will that seems unbelievable) to California's gold rush. Adventures and misadventures are encountered by a boy, his sister and their butler, along with colorful characters along the way. Not until well into the movie do we see the love interest played out. I don't know how critics view it, but for fun entertainment, this is well worth our time.
