Supercroc (2007)
Superbland
Let me start by saying I usually like films of this caliber due to the often unintentional comedy. However this film is just boring, plain and simple.
No decent kill scenes, bland and boring score, Shaquile O Neal type acting, large amount of stock footage, horrific CGI croc and several moments of complete silence due to improper sound mixing (a lot of the time you can hear gunshots, but no-one is firing). Most of the time you can't hear the dialogue, except for the Wilhelm screams. This film is as entertaining as colon cancer. If you're suffering from insomnia, I would recommend this film. All others, avoid this cinematic blandness if possible.
Misery (1990)
A masterpiece
There are very few flaws in this film. As horror films go it eats most others alive.
Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is an author, most notably for his 'Misery' series. During a blizzard his car goes off the road and crashes. He is 'rescued' by Annie Wilkes (Cathy Bates), who happens to be his number 1 fan, and nursed back to health. Soon it becomes apparent that Annie is unstable and obsessed with Paul, and Paul finds himself crippled, drugged and unable to leave.
This is a truly creepy film as it contains a large amount of realism, both in the scenario and the characters, and a particular scene that will make even the hardest person cringe.
Tension and suspense combined with terrific, convincing performances make a true horror film, and one much more disturbing than screaming teens, 2D characters and CGI limbs flying.
A true masterpiece of cinema. *****
