Why Women Kill (2019)
Loved this series
This was a surprisingly entertaining series with good comic relief. The writing is really good and has got interesting characters and development. It's quite light and easy to watch.
It's very disappointing that it was cancelled... this is the problem with having so many different streaming platforms and channels now a days... exposure is very limited, thus it must have not gotten enough viewers at the time, which is quite a shame.
If Netflix would pick it up instead of making horrible shows that also end up getting cancelled, perhaps they'd have more subscribers.
I really do recommend this show, it does have enough content and doesn't leave you hanging.
The Good Fight (2017)
Horribly written
This is NOT a series about legal cases, it's 60% about politics, 30% about the characters' personal drama and their obsession with Trump and 10% about legal cases.
Season 1 is fine but couldn't get past the 4th episode of season 2. These constant stupid 4 minute cartoon videos with songs almost feels like it's some sort of parody, along with this ridiculous theatrical lawyer they keep fighting with in season 2 is very annoying. The soundtrack also is quite off putting (strangely enough it's very noticeable by how bad it is.
Such a shame since the actors are great and very likeable characters (except Lucca, who is quite insufferable)...
Could have been a fantastic show if they stuck to the legal screenwriting and good character development.
The Listener (2009)
Loved this show! I want more!!
This show just gets better every season. I binged it in two weeks and I am so sad to see it only lasted for 5 seasons, with only 13 episodes each.
I loved it!! The casting was excellent, all of the characters are quite likeable and they work well together. My favourite character is Oz of course. The show has this cozy atmosphere and it had really great development of characters, stories and cases that kept it quite interesting.
I wish it was revived but perhaps it's been too long. There really are no series now in 2023 that are airing with this kind of topic and I would love to see more of this one, or the mentalist, they were excellent shows, light and entertaining, with a bit of a twist. Different than the rest, like CSI, NCIS, Bones, and hundreds of other standard crime shows with no comic relief or likeable characters.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
A parody
This is NOT Thor...
It is nothing more than a horribly made parody. Seems more of an actual joke than a real superhero movie and doesn't seem to fit at all within the MCU. It's quite sad the efforts made by all the crew and the artists, witg amazing special effects and so much effort from every single person on the team, this stupid "humour" just disappoints and ridicules the characters. It's a horrible disgrace and it's terrible to see so much money and hard work go to waste. From most reviews it seems the vast majority of people did not enjoy or appreciate what they've done to the characters and the story.
Undercurrent: The Disappearance of Kim Wall (2022)
Incredibly eye opening
This is an extremely well done documentary. It's perplexing why it's severely underrated. Perhaps from people who expect to see an action crime show, in which case, it would be best to watch a TV series with a made-up narrative to attract the public, not a documentary.
The reason why it's so good, is it introduces perfectly both the victim and the attacker in the perspective of those around them before the incident, and develops it into the situation that became Kim Wall's death. It is eye opening, as it digs much deeper into the attacker and uncovers the disturbing nature of what a person can be underneath, unbeknownst to others, especially those closest to them.
It also sheds light on the dangers we can all face which are not immediately apparent, and the drive of human behaviour. This as well as the representation and relevance of who Kim wall was, for those learning about this occurrence, to be able to fully grasp that she was a beautiful human being, with a good soul, who unwarrantedly suffered the most unimaginable pain and suffering at the hands of another person. And to help people grasp the severity of the crime, and its impacts on the world, rather than it being looked at as a piece of entertainment.
Perhaps people are so insensitive now a days, since interacting with each other through a screen 95% of the time, inevitably prevents us from connecting and perceiving each other as human beings.
In my opinion, the director of this piece is absolutely brilliant, and did a fantastic job.
Another Life (2019)
Waste of time
Very poorly written and developed. Was expecting something decent but this is very far from it. Story lacks consistency and development. Although the actors do a very good job, the story is just very superficial with absolutely no scientific background or even logical sense.
Travelers (2016)
Excellent
One of the best science fiction series I've seen. Extremely well written and directed, fantastic ending. Left me wanting more. I can't believe such a good and well made show wouldn't continue while other poorly developed stories are till being aired.
