New York Homicide (2022)
True Crime series that pretty par for the course
...and an unavoidable NYPD propaganda message that's very on the nose or I'd give it 6 or 7. There's real inner circle (ie: family members, witnesses, etc.) interviews but the host is the former NYPD chief and there's too much self-promotion that I've never seen in other series.
Bad Trip (2021)
Didn't expect much but it was HILARIOUS 💀💀
Reminds me if a Borat-type movie...but the interacts w unknowing real people is dialled waaaay up. Literally lol-ing and scaring my dog.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Save yourself and skip this series
No one is interviewed that actual knew Elisa Lam. No friends, no family, not even an internet friend/acquaintance.
It just is stretched and spun to create mystery and intrigue. A lot of random tangential theories. Not many factual details and loads of speculation from multiple youtubers that identify as web sleuth.
It's more about the social media hype and those that created it than Elisa Lam herself.
Bridgerton (2020)
Perfect escapism!
Fantastical soap opera period piece.
The diverse cast is utterly swoon-worthy. I also appreciate all the new faces - none bring prior characters they're known for to this story.
I'm keeping fingers-crossed that there's more seasons to come (apparently the book series are 8 in total - one for each Bridgeton sibling).
Aside from the main characters, I really enjoyed Eloise played by Claudia Jessie.
Crazy, Not Insane (2020)
Doesn't present as scientifically objective
Super interesting topic. Not saying her work isn't valid, but how it's presented is one-sided. Knowing it is a highly divisive area of psychology, no scrutinizing opposing views are explored. It's difficult to take the content as unbiased - even if they're on to something. I didn't get anything out of it. The doctor seems like a sweet lady and I do appreciate her humanitarian approach.
