25th Hour (2002)
i really wanted to like it
27 January 2003
this movie had so much appeal, the actors drew me in to want to see it and the premise is what got me into a seat. i so much anticipation toward this movie. you had a genius behind the camera and gods in front of the camera. but it was just scattered.

the movie seems be completely different from what the movie is suppose to be. the movie is suppose to be something about closing the book on a life cause your essentially dead. but it was all so much emotions that were going on, that they became the story, but the meant so many unneccessary scenes. the entire relationship between phillip seymour hoffman and anna paquin was not need. it didnt fit into the story as a whole. if there was an attraction between monty and her, or the story centered on all the characters equally, then it would have made so much sense.

the flashbacks are hard to understand. they happen so quickly and and get so in depth so fast, during the flashback you say "whats going on?" then after the flashback happens, you say "was that a flashback, did i miss something?" the editing was a little off ass well but im not holding that against the movie. the editing could have been like that cause spike lee wanted it like that, with is totally understandable.

i sat through the entire movie wondering what the symbolism of 9/11 was. and all i could come up with was suffering to survive and in the long run everything will be alright and better. while thats true to the people of new york and america with 9/11, its also monty's life, he is gonna suffer to survive his life after the 25th hour but in the end he will have naturelle back and everything will be peaceful again. but that kind fo symbolism is too hard to think up, symbolisms arent meant to be found by a search and resuce team deep within a dark cave, its meant to be the icing on the cake.

the music was unparallel to the movie too. the opening music was like something out of a action adventure drama picture like gladiator or something, it wasnt fitting with a crime drama like this, the whoel score just seemed out of place.

while 25th hour has some spectacular acting, an awesome director, and cinematography thats award worthy; 25th hour just doesnt make it. were told the 25th hour is about one thing, but when we see it it is completey different from what were told. but what saves this movie form being a total piece of junk is the actors and how seriously they take there roles. if movies had the option for a second chance, this movie should be first in line for it. cause this movie has so much potential too it.

quite good
18 December 2002
i rented the fellowship of the rings some months back. and i thought i was the only one who thought that it was just ok. i thought it dragged and stretched the character development as far as it can be and then some. but after seeing the two towers, im very pleased with the lord of the rings series now.

i went into the movie very skeptical, but that dwindled away after seeing it. the first one did all the character development, and so the two towers was just a visual dream. the scale of this movie was magnificant. a journey of the mind that never ends even after the movie is over. the battle scenes were beyond an epic in itself.

the two towers was movie a very enjoyable for anyone with an imagination. i highly recommend it to anyone. but unlike most sequels, this one will make sense to those who didnt see the first one.

American Idol (2002– )
everything sucked except for one thing
15 December 2002
Ok this show is just plain junk. The hosts are pretty boys playing to the camera, the music sucks as well. And big suprise an attractive girl won, i could have sworn the fat unattractive chick who could actually sing would go all the way and win the contract. But the show does have one thing that saves it all, and that is the great Simon Cowell. He is truly a legend of television. He is apart of the whole competition for one reason, the music. He could care less about paula, randy, the host, the contestants. He is there for the sake of music. Rock on Simon, you make television interesting again.

a documentary at its best

Warning: Spoilers
this is one great show. 4 episodes felt like a lifetime of funny. you would think a show would have a few minor set backs but otherwise flow fine in its creation process. but everything that could go wrong did. SPOILERS AHEAD....the fire, the electricution, the half deaf audience, the lead actor getting hit by a car, another actor beaten up by a bike messanger. thats just to name a few of the many things that went wrong. but this show definatly puts the fun in utter dysfunction. whos up for a second season, i know i am.

had potential
24 November 2002
when every show starts, weather its a spin off or not, it has potential, you just need to find a way to have everything flow as one and then you will succeed for a decent run. the college years was one of those shows. the idea of following americas favorite high schools is a promising premise, but all the necessary aspects didnt flow. the comedy was very childish, the writing pretty flat. and the actors lost there classic high school edge. but also the whole idea of this college is pretty fabricated, any SBTB fan knows zack got mostly F's and the occasional D, but yet he still made it into california university...just kinda sticks out in my head. but it was odd to have put them all in one suite, if they put them in seperate dorms, it would add for more characters to be introduced into the show. but all in all, it was a good show with potential, just didnt use it right

American Gladiators (1989–1996)
a classic has been cancelled by the hands of ruthless executives
18 November 2002
when i was a kid, i dreamed of being a contender to face the gladiators in 8 rounds of competition. but all i can do is watch reruns on TNN and watch people with mullets and frizzy hair from the early 90's period battle it out. and there is never a dull moment. no show can ever match this one. whats more fun than watching washed up football players giving play by play as gladiator sized men and women stop contenders from earning points which are needed for the all important ...!!ELIMINATOR!!... but why must the good shows be cancelled.

Beat the Geeks (2001–2002)
TV isnt as low as it was
10 November 2002
this show is great. its in lowbrow your face comedy is funny. the geeks not only are funny, but they are excellent in there fields of knowledge. but unlike most game shows, the geeks have weakness. they actually get some of the easy stuff wrong. the geeks are actually human as opposed to jeopardy where you need 11 doctorates and 20 years of college to get the easy questions right.

this show is also educational. i know a great amount of all three of the main areas of trivia, but i learn something knew from each episode. the guest geeks are cool, but they need more variety in the geeks. like have a geek for a specific movie, tv show, or band more often. and who else thinks the playboy geek is just a pervert who's only girlfriends are the centerfolds?...haha

the host isnt that bad, blaine is in your face and looks like a geek. but J Key has a geeky voice. im sure J Key went to bigger and better things by using his geeks fame, so i understand bringing in a host.

the prizes also dont suck. trips to movie studios, new york, sound systems, home theater systems, and roles in B horror movies. those are geek prizes and they actually are worth something.

they also need to show ways how the public can be a contest or a guest geek. i would love to try my luck as a contestant. or even as a guest geek. i got the knowledge to kick almost anyones ass at saved by the bell. bring it on.

Pearl Harbor (2001)
caution moviegoers: crappy movie ahead
10 November 2002
SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS. did i mention that this movies sucks. this movie sucked so badly. totally overblown with a fake love story that never happened set on the background of a historic day of american history. where does the director come off making a love story and altering historic events so the love story could flow easier. i know many veterans of the war as well as pearl harbor. and a lot of stuff in that movie didnt happen like that. they altered history to make ben affleck and josh hartnett seem like the hero's who save the day. if you can make a cheap love story from this. im just counting down the dyas until jerry bruckheimer decides to make a cheap love story that is set on september 11th. come on jerry, you know your gonna do it. if you havent seen this movie yet, dont. you'll only be wasting your money and 3 hours of your life. if you have seen it. either beat up the director or producer for putting you through that chap, or get your money back. moviegoers beware:crappy movie ahead

Con Air (1997)
not too bad, but not too good
10 November 2002
will this movie win any awards for excellent film making, hell no. first of all its a jerry brockheimer movie, so anyone should know better than to expect his movies to blow you away in every way. its got its clique, corky one liners, and over blown special effects. but this movie is just fun. if you got a short attention span like most moviegoers, this movie is for you. and how can you say no to nicolas cage with a sothern accent...too funny. this movie is just a fun way to enjoy 2 1/2 hours of the day.

also john malkovich was meant to play the role of cyrus. he nailed that role perfect. theres needs to be more roles like that just for him

Total Request Live (1998–2019)
remember when mtv was something interesting
28 October 2002
ok this show was a good idea when i started. but music cant be based on votes. ever heard of record sales. they tell a more honest top ten. what happened to MTV live. all it was was dj's and a few people in the background chillin playing random videos. no it is a room with an audience that thinks they are rock cause they flash the rock on hand signal, or a hip hop fan cause they wear a shirt eminem wore when he was on the show. all the music that makes it is the ones that have chessy, lame pointless songs that have no depth or sense of someone actually wrote from the heart. whatever happened to a musical opinion. no person can be cool with the backstreet boys and than kick it with a rock band. carson is so fake. he plays for the camera and acts like he is cool with all the artist (i use that word losely)and acts like he loves all the genres of music. they also only have one kind of band per genre and plug the f*ck out of them. hey lets play blink 182 cause they are a punk band. bullsh*t there punk. why dont you look at the early days of the sex pistols when people were killed or injured and every show.

this show also does way to much, i thought they were suppose to play the video, but they play a meek 30 seconds of a 3 minute song, and then go to carson as he is talking to nsync about how there nice album is more rock influenced. no one gives a damn. play the video in full, and dont cover the screen with scrollers saying how someone voted it or have a 17 year old going on 12 years old screaming about how they voted for the video cause there hot.

this show is so low, it digs itself deeper every time it airs. but sadly, its the only time they play videos. but wait, you can see rock videos at 3am to 4 am. this show makes me hang my head in shame and shake it in disbelief that its still on. bring back the original format of MTV or at least do a count down that is based off sales.

Swordfish (2001)
10/10
A Rating System
11 June 2001
Okay, It's like this: my scale for movies include multiple things, and all have to be present for the greatest number of stars, 10, in this case. Well, first, since this was an action film, it has to be an action rating system. It's just plain common sense to have different rating systems for different genres, while all stick to a specific guideline.

-Big name actor(s) in main role(s) -Big name director -Big name producer -Developed plot -Multiple large explosions and gun fights -The "F Word" used properly in each usage -Nudity

Those are the seven marks for an action movie, and SWORDFISH met every one of those marks, so it gets the full 10 stars here (my normal is seven, a star for each mark).
