Mr. Marumakan (2012)
An embarrassment of a movie
This entire movie is just bad. From the acting to the script to the dialogue, whichever way you look at it from, i don't understand how anyone could enjoy this garbage. What a waste of talented veteran actresses like khushboo and sheela.
Bhramam (2021)
Falls short of expectations, casting could have been better
One thing the malayalam movie industry excels in that the other industries in the country don't is giving a certain essence and life to our movies, and that's exactly where this movie falls short. Andhadhun is a very popular movie that released nearly 2-3 years ago and much of the malayali audience have already seen it. The sets, the story and the dialogues in this movie were so similar to the original hindi movie that it felt like I was watching the same movie but with malayalam actors and Malayalam dialogues. Sticking with the story line but atleast changing up the dialogues and certain scenes would have done the trick of giving this movie some uniqueness.
Another place where the movie fails is in the casting, while prithvi tried to bring justice to his role the best he could, it still felt like i was just watching him mimic Ayushman khuranna, same goes with all the other male characters including the police officer, the dead actor, the crooked surgeon etc, it seemed like they were just acting out the parts their hindi counterparts played, there was zero depth to the characters and the realness from the original was not there. It also felt like the female characters were in it solely as eye candies instead of the powerful roles they had in the original. Simi in the original was a scary psychopath, she knew how to manipulate people and was an apathic killer who would do anything to save herself. In this movie, it looked like mamta simply tried to act out the character tabu played, that scariness of Simi's character from the hindi version was not there. Perhaps giving the role to a more experienced and older actress like manju varier, Shwetha Menon etc would have brought more justice to the character. Same goes to the character of Anna, the actress clearly doesn't speak malayalam, and her acting and delivery of dialogues doesn't hide the fact. There was so much emotion and heartbreak and anger radhika Apte put into her character in the hindi version that was simply not there in this movie. Malayali Actresses like Rima kallingal, Parvathy, Anne Augustine or even Mamta Mohandas would have been better off playing anna.
Ananya was good playing the role of the police officer's wife, but again that power the original actress Ashwini kalsekar gave to the role was missing. She felt like just a naive, traditional malayali wife in this movie. In the original, though manohar's wife had short screen time, she was a memorable character. It was clear that manohar feared his wife, she was a woman who loved her husband but would take no crap from him. That depth of character too was missing in this movie, here it felt like ananya's character was there just for the name sake.
All in all the movie seemed like an exact carbon copy of the original and if given a choice I'm pretty sure everyone would opt to watch the original over this one.
Bombay Begums (2021)
Raw and beautiful
While watching it, it gave me some of the 'lipstick under my burkha' movie vibes. But the acting and storyline is simply superb. The series shows the dilemmas women often face between career and marriage/motherhood very well. It also showcases the different challenges a lady faces at different points of her life. It's not as bad as the reviews make it out to be, must watch.
Black Widow (2021)
Perfect
I went into it thinking it would be average, never was an action fan to begin with, but this movie surprised me. Not only was the story, direction and cinematography perfect (as it always is with these high budget marvel movies), this movie had a certain soul to it that you don't usually see in marvel movies. It also shows a part of Natasha romanoff that we've never seen before, perfect tribute to the character. Loved it.
Ready or Not (2019)
I thought it was really good
The movie does a perfect job of keeping you entertained. There is the right amount of horror, thrill and comedy in it. Acting from the cast is spectacular too, makes you really feel the emotions they're feeling. Each of the characters are very well written, they all have certain layers to them that unfolds throughout. Many people thought the ending was tacky, I thought it was really funny and just what the movie needed to be fair. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it's definitely worth a go if you're looking for some thrill and fun.
Irul (2021)
Disappointing.
Decided to give it a go despite the negative reviews because I know Fahad fasil never disappoints, and he didn't. The acting from the cast was amazing, but there's no logic and way too many plotholes for this to be enjoyable. The movie's atmosphere is great for a thriller, but they relied mostly on jumpscares to do the trick instead of slow build ups. Not to mention the ending was very predictable and disappointing. After the final 'reveal' and the abrupt ending I was left thinking 'thats it ?'. There was great potential here to make this a memorable, one of a kind movie of the Malayalam film industry but unfortunately it missed the mark.

Laxmii (2020)
Not worth it
This movie is probably the worst movie I've ever seen in my life. It's full of over dramatic acting, terrible jokes, useless jumpscares and zero logic. Would not recommend to watch this movie, just watch the Tamil original instead of this.
Pari (2018)
An underrated gem
If you're looking for a psychological thriller or a true horror movie then this is not it. But what I can tell you is that it has a one a kind plot that keeps you on the edge throughout and is a kind of movie you don't usually see in Bollywood. it is sweet, heart touching and also heart breaking. It has a unique mix of characters for whom you will feel either immense hatred or immense love for.
Supermodel of the year (2019)
Nope
This show is just a cringier and faker version of intm. Intm was actually a pretty good show and had some level of standards when lisa haydon hosted it, with malaika arora the show has literally just gone down the drain. There is way too much bad acting in it along with a ton of fake drama to increase their views. Just sad how much the quality of mtv india shows have gone down now.
Veruthe Oru Bharya (2008)
Veruthe oru cinema
This movie is terrible. Its riddled with so much stigma and misogyny. The acting was also not good especially jayaram's. Many dialogues seemed unnecessary and out of place, many scenes were unnecessary and could have been avoided instead of increasing screen time. Music was pretty good, the movie tries to come off like it's made with good intentions and a good message but the message delivered by the movie overall is very toxic to young women of this generation but also for young men who may think behaviour like that of jayaram's character is okay.
C U Soon (2020)
Wow.
I went in knowing it would be something very similar to the movie 'searching', and it was. However it also had it's own unique flair to it. The movie and its message is very heart touching, it brings light to a very important issue. The girl playing anu did an absolutely fantastic job!! fahad and roshan were great too. Kudos to the entire team 👏👏
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Actually quite good
Being a comic book fan myself, I quite enjoyed this film. The film had a very Harley Quinn like feel to it. It's understandable that people are mad cuz they did kinda stray from the comics, but it's not as bad as people here are making it seem to be. It's a very enjoyable movie and did justice to Harley's character. Quit whining lol.
Forensic (2020)
Thoroughly enjoyed. Good plot and acting
I read some reviews before I went to watch the movie and I honestly didnt expect much. But I was very surprised with how much I actually like this movie. Not gonna lie while watching the movie I was mad for a second when they 'revealed' the killers , I thought it was too soon for the reveal , and in the end when the 'actual' killer was exposed I was even more surprised. You gotta admit that was quite an unexpected plot twist. However, as much as I enjoyed the plot and acting I do think the screenplay and execution could have been a little bit better but overall a good and enjoyable movie.
