Your Friends & Neighbors (2025)
It's a fun show to watch
I have to say I really enjoyed this series even more than I expected to. Besides Apple TV always putting out bangers, I'm a fan of both Jon Hamm and Olivia Munn so I was looking forward to this since the moment first heard about it. I'm glad it didn't disappoint. The thing that did surprise me though is it's funnier than I expected. Your Friends and Neighbors is about a hedge fund manager (Hamm) who gets fired in disgrace. Not knowing what to do next he resorts to stealing from his Westmont Village neighbors. Besides the money and valuables he steals he also comes across a bunch of secrets his wealthy friends have that prove to be very dangerous. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a fun new show to watch.
MobLand (2025)
Tom Hardy is one of my favorite actors
The first word that comes to my mind after watching Mobland is...amazing! Mobland is about two mob families that are in a war with each other that threatens everyone lives and the empires they work for. In the middle is a fixer named Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) who tries to stop these two families from eliminating each other. The cast is just brilliant...Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan lead a terrific cast who are all at the top of their game here. Mobland is directed by Guy Ritchie so if you're a fan of his you'll love this and if you're not you'll still love it. This is easily one of the best shows of the year and I hope we get multiple seasons of it. It's a gritty drama with plenty of action and twists to keep you entertained throughout each episode. I really can't recommend this show enough.
Daredevil: Born Again (2025)
I enjoyed it but it's not for everyone
I can't tell you how glad I am that Daredevil and The Punisher are back and finally part of the MCU. As a huge fan of Marvel I'm a little biased because I pretty much like everything they put out. My bias aside, Daredevil was universally loved and thought of as being the best of all the Marvel shows. Daredevil: Born Again picks up right where the original left off and that's being an incredible show. It's actually my favorite Marvel show, with The Punisher a close second. All you have to do is read through the reviews to see how loved Daredevil and The Punisher are. Even the critics loved them. Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio were born to play Daredevil and Kingpin, as was Jon Bernthal to play The Punisher. Those three are absolutely the best part of the show. Now that they've brought back Daredevil and The Punisher, they need to bring back Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist into the MCU somehow. If you're a Marvel fan then Daredevil: Born Again is a must watch.
The Last of Us (2023)
It is what it is
The Last of Us definitely lives up to all the hype around it. Considering there are a thousand zombie/post apocalyptic shows to choose from, one would have to be really good and stick out from the rest to put in the time to watch. Well, The Last of Us is definitely that show. It's not only good, but one of the best zombie/ post apocalyptic shows to some out in the last few years. It seems that most agree based off all the terrific reviews from both critics and the audience alike. It's also been nominated for just about every award possible. The show itself was just nominated for a bunch of Emmy's including best drama, Pedro Pascal was nominated for best lead actor, Bella Ramsey for best lead actress, Nick Offerman, Murray Barnett and Lamar Johnson for best guest actor, Melanie Lynskey, Anna Torv and Storm Reid for best guest actress, best ensemble cast, best directing, best writing, etc. So, as you can see it's a great show. HBO has had so many great shows over the years, too many to even name, and it looks like The Last of Us is the next great one. Can't wait to see where this show goes next.
Dope Thief (2025)
Even Better Than Expected
Dope Thief is even better than I expected it to be and I expected it to be really good. Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura are great in just about everything they've ever been in and Dope Thief is no different. In fact, it might be their best work for the both of them. The only negative about Apple shows are they release them one every week and a show this good you're going to want to watch the next episode the second you're done with the one you're watching. Dope Thief reminds me of The Wire on how it shows how crime impacts every socioeconomic level. I'm not saying this is as good as The Wire, not much is, but it's still very good in its own right. I definitely recommend you give this a try...I promise you won't be disappointed.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Solid Fantasy Series
I never read the books for The Wheels of Time so I had no idea what to expect but I have to say that I've truly enjoyed it so far. This show hooked me from the first episode and held my attention to the last. I binged the first two seasons in less than a week and was still hoping for more episodes when I was done so I'm glad season 3 is finally here. It seems like some of the people who read the books didn't like it as much but as long as you try not to compare it to the book and just enjoy it for what it is...and that's an entertaining fantasy series. The series should be judged on its own and not compared to the book. I'm not saying it's the best show I've ever seen but it's definitely worth watching. The world building and cast are the best things about the show and I can't wait for more.
The Pitt (2025)
The pacing makes each episode fly by
The Pitt is easily the best hospital series I've ever seen. It's been praised up and down by just about everyone and for good reason. It currently has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. This show will have you in your feelings so much by the time you finish even one episode you'll be as exhausted as the employees of The Pitt. I didn't think the every episode is an hour (like 24) would work for a medical show but I was wrong. It not only works but is a big reason why this series is so good. The pacing of each episode makes them fly by. No show or movie you've ever seen will prepare you for the experience of watching The Pitt. With how many medical series that have been made it's amazing that the genre was able to come out with such an original show as The Pitt.
The Studio (2025)
So Funny
I've been looking forward to The Studio ever since I first heard about it. I had huge expectations considering how great the cast is and I can say without a doubt that this series not only met those expectations but surpassed them in every way. I personally like Seth Rogen but this isn't his normal humor so even if you don't like his usual stuff, you should enjoy this show. This is right there with the best stuff Rogen has ever done. It actually might be his best. It's not just Rogen that shines either, the entire cast is brilliant. The cameos in this is full of A-list celebrities that makes the show just that much better. It's satire on the depiction of Hollywood is spot on. Even though it's a comedy, it's true to the point of how Hollywood continues to put out junk and not care as long as it keeps making money. It's easily one of the best new shows of 2025...it was absolutely hilarious. Each episode will literally make you laugh out loud. I really hope they bring it back for more seasons.
Foundation (2021)
Love It
Foundation is definitely a must watch for any sci-fi fan. I never read the source material and it seems that most of the people who don't like this are mad because it's not exactly like the book. Some people don't understand that these shows and movies are adapted or based off the source material. Some parts are a little slow and throws the pace off a little as it builds its world but not slow enough where it makes it bad. The visuals are as good as anything you'll find on tv. You can tell they put a lot of money into it and it shows. This also has some great characters that will make you invested in the show and actually care about what happens to them. Foundation has ended up surprising me then just about any show that I can remember. It really has become one of my favorite sci-fi shows that I've ever seen.
The Agency: Central Intelligence (2024)
Starts slow but gets better
For anyone who loves games of cat and mouse involved in the spy world then The Agency is for you. It's not the best spy series that I've seen but it's definitely worth watching. Michael Fassbender is perfect for roles like this, as is Jeffery Wright. The two of them are incredibly underrated actors. Add in Richard Gere, Katherine Waterston and Saura Lightfoot-Leon and you have one of the most talented casts on tv. The show might start off slow for some but stay with it because it does pick up. It just takes its time as it builds its world and its characters but if you don't have the patience for slow burn, well told shows then this isn't for you. The Agency does a great job of showing the cost and the sacrifices it takes to be in this line of work. I hope we get several seasons of this.
A Thousand Blows (2024)
Worth Watching
A Thousand Blows is a Hulu original series based off the real life stories of a group of people battling for survival in the most brutal part of East London in the 1880's. Two best friends, Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby) and Alec Munroe (Francis Lovehall) on the rum from Jamaica find themselves thrown into the criminal world of London's bare-knuckle fighting scene. As Hezekiah continues to win and find fame and fortune, he attracts the attention of the Queen of the Forty Elephants, Mary Carr (Erin Doherty), who then works with Hezekiah to further her criminal empire. Then there's the boss of the East End boxing world, Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham), who is determined to destroy Hezekiah because he's threatening everything Sugar has built. What happens next is a battle between the two of them. This is one of the early surprises of 2025 so far.
Black Sails (2014)
Awesome
Black Sails is absolutely one of the most underrated shows ever. It was so good that I binged the entire series in a week. Everything about this show is damn near perfect...the writing, acting, cinematography, production value, costumes, all of it! You can tell the effort they put into this show by the attention to detail in every scene. The acting and writing are so good that you really come to care about what happens to these characters. This is by far the best series I've ever seen about pirates and definitely a show that is for adults. I was hooked from the very first episode through to the very last. Every season is fantastic.
Black Doves (2024)
Solid Spy Thriller
I just finished watching Black Doves and want to see more. Black Doves currently has a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes so it's obviously a hit with both critics and the audience. It stars Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sara Lancashire. All 3 and the rest of the cast were all terrific. I won't be surprised to see this show get nominated for multiple awards come award season. It has plenty of action, drama, comedy and twists and turns to entertain everyone. There are so many spy shows and some especially great ones this year so you have to be good enough to stick out of you want people to notice and Black Doves definitely does that. It's a must watch for any fan of spy series.
Zero Day (2025)
Another reason why De Niro is one of the best to ever do it
If you're into political thrillers then Zero Day is the show for you. This limited series is headed by an all-star cast led by the legendary Robert De Niro. De Niro gives one of his better performances of his career, the man is just incapable of giving a bad performance and this is no different. He's absolutely brilliant yet again. De Niro is as big as star as there is so for him to do a tv series you know that show would have to be special. While Zero Day isn't the best show that you'll see this year, it's still a very good show that's worth every second watching it. It's going to have most of you on the edge of your seat throughout the series, especially the last couple episodes. Some of it gets a little ridiculous but it's not based off a true story, just turn your brain off and enjoy it for the political thriller it is.
Yellowstone (2018)
Going to miss it
Yellowstone has easily become one of my favorite shows since it originally came on. Every season has been fantastic. It sucks Kevin Costner couldn't finish the series and had to miss the last 6 episodes because of conflicting schedules. I still think they do as good as job as possible without him, I'm sure the ending would've been better with him but it was still worth watching. They now plan on doing a spin-off with Rip and Beth. I'm definitely looking forward to that. I hope the rest of the Dutton family makes some appearances. This series had plenty of action and drama to keep everyone satisfied. The cast is just about perfect as can be as they all give incredible performances. The cinematography is also as good as it gets on tv and shows just how beautiful Montana is. I was completely hooked on this show and was one of the few shows I still watched live because I loved it that much.
Dune: Prophecy (2024)
Looking forward to next season
I've been looking forward to Dune: Prophecy ever since I first heard about it. Then I saw the trailers and my excitement grew even more. Well, after seeing it I can say that it without a doubt lived up to my expectations. Your expectations have to be realistic though, if you're expecting something as perfect as the Dennis Villenueve directed films then you're going to be disappointed, but if you go into it just expecting a perfectly paced, fascinating series that will keep you thoroughly invested every episode then you'll love it. The world building that takes place and the attention to every detail is as good as it gets for a tv show. This series is best watched binged because I can promise when you finish an episode you can't wait to start the next. You're not going to want to wait a week between episodes, it's that good.
Tracker (2024)
Worth Watching
Tracker is every bit as good as the reviews here have pointed out. It's about a man named Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) who's dad raised him giving him tools to be a survivalist. He uses those skills and his natural instincts to find missing people and collect rewards. He has team that includes a lawyer, a business handler and tech expert that helps him find these people. Colter will do any and everything to find these missing people. I'm not saying this is the best show that in tv but it is quite the entertaining show. This is a procedural show that has a new case every week. Justin Hartley absolutely kills it as the lead here and makes the show worth watching. It's the #1 show on tv and currently has a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes so it's liked by both the audience and critics.
Silo (2023)
Terrific
Silo has already been renewed for another two seasons so I'm looking forward to seeing where this show goes. It's suppose to end with season 4 so it will have a proper ending and won't end on a cliffhanger like so many other shows. This show really is every bit as good as everyone says it is. It currently has a 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.2 here so it's liked by both critics and the audience. It has those great scores for a reason. This is definitely one of the best new shows of the last few years. The seasons may start a little slow for some, not me, but the tension continues to build and build until the last few episodes are can't miss. It takes place in a dystopian future where everyone lives in a huge silo hundreds of stories underground. They live there with a bunch of rules that they all believe are in place to protect them. It has a star studded cast led by Rebecca Ferguson and supported by Tim Robbins, Shane McRae, Will Patton, Common, Iain Glen, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, and more. With that cast, the great writing and great visuals this is a cant miss thriller.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (2023)
I've Enjoyed It
The Walking Dead: Darryl Dixon has absolutely lived up to all the hype. Like most, Darryl was one of my favorite characters from the original show so I've been looking forward to this. It didn't disappoint. This follows the story of fan favorite Darryl Dixon as he travels across the ocean to France. There he's put in charge of protecting a young boy who's thought to be the savior for humanity. Between this, Dead City and The Ones Who Live, The Walking Dead is back and as good as ever. This reminds me of the early seasons of the original where you couldn't wait until the next episode instead of just watching because you put so much time into it and wanted to see what happens but it almost felt like a chore. This show has refreshed a franchise many thought was on its last leg and a show where it can get a few years of being really exciting.
The Night Agent (2023)
S1 was great...S2 not so much
I have to say that I came away impressed with The Night Agent. I actually liked the first season so much that I couldn't stop watching and binged the entire season over the course of a weekend. Then the second season came out and I was hoping for more of the same. While I thought the second season was worth watching it wasn't nearly as good the first. The series is about a rookie FBI agent (Gabriel Basso) who gets assigned to the basement of the White House to guard a phone that never rings. Until one night it does. What follows is an action packed conspiracy thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the series. I know this series has been killing it on Netflix as both seasons did very well and among their most watched shows ever. I saw they plan on doing a third season and I can't wait to see where this show goes.
The Morning Show (2019)
Such an amazing cast
The Morning Show is a solid drama led by such an amazing cast. It takes you behind the scenes of a morning show and gives you a candid look at what makes the show go and the lives of the people involved in it. It may start a little slow for some but stick with it because it gets better as the show goes on. It seems like the entire cast has been nominated for an Emmy for their jobs on this show (Steve Carrel, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Jon Hamm, Holland Taylor, etc, etc.) and for good reason...they were all terrific! It's obviously a star studded cast but it's not only the stars that make this show so good, the writing is fantastic as well. Like most shows the first season is the best but even though the other seasons may not be quite as good as the first, they're still pretty darn good.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Entertaining Enough
While The Falcon and the Winter Soldier isn't as good as Loki or WandaVision, it's still a really good show. It's an action packed thriller from start to finish. Like most things from Marvel, this show will grab you and pull you into their world from the very first episode and not let go. While all these Marvel series ties into their ongoing story from the movies, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actually ended having a much bigger impact in the MCU than most of their other series. It shows the start of how Sam Wilson/The Falcon starts his journey to becoming the new Captain America. It also brings you the John Walker (Wyatt Russell) character who joins Bucky/Winter Soldier in the new Thunderbolts movie coming out. You'll have so much fun watching this show that you'll have binged the entire season before you know it. If you plan on watching the new Captain America movie or the Thunderbolts movie then this is a must watch.
Ghosts (2021)
You'll have fun watching this
Ghosts is one of the funniest shows currently on tv. It's about Samantha, a freelance journalist, and Jay, a up and coming chef, who decide to leave the big city and put all their money in to buy a run down country estate and turn it into a bed and breakfast. While their Sam falls and hits her head, when she wakes up she can see ghosts. There are a bunch that live in their new house as they can't leave the property. Sam is the first living person that can see and hear them. What follows is a very funny show. Ghosts currently has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 8.0 here so you can see it's loved by both the audience and critics. If you're looking for a new show to just have fun watching then Ghosts is the show for you.
Fallout (2024)
Loved It
I never played the Fallout games or knew anything about them so I had no idea what to expect but I have to say that I've really enjoyed it so far. This show hooked me from the first episode and held my attention to the last. I binged the entire season in two days and was still hoping for more episodes when I was done. It seems like some of the people who actually played the games didn't like it as much but as long as try not to compare it to the game and just enjoy it for what it is...and that's an entertaining fantasy/sci-fi series. The series should be judged on its own and not compared to the game. The world building and cast are the best things about the show and I can't wait for more. I promise you'll have a blast watching this and will want to binge it as fast as you can.
Paradise (2025)
Hooked me from the start
I had no idea what to expect going into this show but was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. Paradise is about a secret agent (Sterling K. Brown) who's assigned to protect the president (James Marsden). The president gets killed at the end of the first episode and from there it's a whodunit story to figure out what happened. Oh yeah, this takes place in an underground city after an apocalyptic event destroyed the world. Who saw that coming? I was at the edge of seat throughout each episode, I really hope they have enough material to make this show go for a few seasons. This series hooks you from the opening episode and keeps you entertained throughout the entire season. I can't recommend this show enough.
