Trigger Point (2022– )
8/10
Good action crime thriller
31 January 2022
Well made and exciting. Amazed that folks can give negative reviews after only watching one episode. Only 2 episodes have shown in Australia so I will only say, so far so good. And if anyone doubts Vicky McClure's acting ability, watch the scene in ep. 2 where she cries over the loss of her buddy after his funeral.

Who wrote this?

I noticed that the author for this series is Nick Walker. Could not find anything about him online so am wondering if this is really Nicola Walker writing her own series.

Its OK.

The leads actor is morose and taciturn, after a while it becomes painful to watch her. The sub-plot is absurd and annoying. The toleration of a detective who is constantly taking swigs of alcohol while working also defies belief.

The plots are interesting and the actors do a reasonable job. Worth watching although you may find it wears thin after several episodes.

The River (2017)

Almost good.

Well acted and with fabulous scenery, this series was spoiled by a plot that unravelled and other inconsistencies that began to mount up. The dialogue was also rather bland. I didn't bother with the final episode.

Prey (2014–2015)

Watchable but some flaws.

The themes of both seasons are very similar, give yourself a break between watching them. The acting is excellent and does make up for some contrived plotting.

The Valhalla Murders (2019–2020)
9/10
Very good police procedural.

Like all police procedurals it follows a predicable pattern. It is well acted with only a few moments that felt a forced. The photography and settings are great and unusual. There is a certain amount of humour. The two main detectives have side issues which add interest to the show. The plot has been done befroe but it's still very watchable. It relies a bit to much on darkness to create tension and the fact that neither detective carries a gun seems very odd given the suspect is a vicious killer. It seems there to create more drama. Always good to see other nation's take on this well worn genre.
