Four Lane Highway is an excellent film that has been making it's way around the festival circuit. First time director Dylan McCormick does a masterful job in telling the story of Sean, living in the same college town he grew up. His father was a professor and writer, who wrote one book that made him into a celebrity. Sean has been living off this celebrity, sleeping with freshmen girls and enjoying all the benefits. The only problem is that Sean is no longer a kid. He's in mid-thirties and going nowhere fast. His father is dead and he's working construction.
Into this comes Molly, an art teacher who is dealing with her fear of putting her art out there to be judged. There is a painful coming together and coming apart in which they both make tremendous strides forward. With an ending that does not candy coat life and ensure one of a happily ever after, but rather that if one finds peace in their soul whatever comes next will be okay.
Both Fredrick Weller and Greer Goodman as Sean and Molly are amazing in this film. In fact the acting is universally excellent in Four Lane Highway. I strongly recommend this film.
