A Catastrophic Disaster Unfit for the Big Screen
9 April 2024
Veera Simha Reddy, a movie released in 2023, is an absolute trainwreck that leaves the audience dumbfounded and questioning their life choices. It is clear that this film fails to deliver even the bare minimum of entertainment based on the rating that I have seen. Brace yourselves for my 2 cents.

Firstly, the plot of this film is so convoluted and confusing that it makes solving a Rubik's Cube seem like child's play. The storyline jumps haphazardly between different eras and locations, leaving the audience bewildered and unable to connect the dots. It's as if the writers were playing a game of 'Pin the Tail on the Donkey,' hoping to stumble upon a coherent narrative.

Moreover, the acting in Veera Simha Reddy can only be described as a tragic comedy. The lead actor's performance is so wooden and devoid of any emotion that it makes a cardboard cutout seem lifelike in comparison. It's as if the director thought he was casting statues instead of actors. The supporting cast fares no better, delivering cringe-worthy dialogue with exaggerated expressions that are more laughable than dramatic.

Let's not forget the special effects, or rather the lack thereof. It appears that the film's budget was solely allocated towards the lead actor's exorbitant salary, leaving nothing for decent CGI or practical effects. The fight sequences are so poorly choreographed that they resemble a clumsy dance routine gone wrong. It's truly a spectacle to behold, but not in the way the filmmakers intended.

The editing in Veera Simha Reddy deserves a special mention for its complete disregard for continuity. Scenes abruptly cut from one to another without any logical transition, leaving the audience scratching their heads in confusion. It feels as if the editor was trying to piece together a jigsaw puzzle without looking at the picture on the box, resulting in a nonsensical mess.

In conclusion, Veera Simha Reddy is a disastrous attempt at filmmaking that should be avoided at all costs. It fails to deliver on every front, from its incoherent plot and lackluster acting to its abysmal special effects and erratic editing. Save yourself the agony and spend your time and money on a movie that actually deserves your attention.

WHY..??
3 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why make a movie about one of the most obnoxious tv personality ever..? Actually one of the most lowly humans ever.. You could rather have spent that money on charity.. There are so many people in the world whose biopics could have been made to share their stories with the world and inspire.. People wasted money, time and energy in making a garbage movie about a low-life of a person here and it is a waste of anyone who is even reviewing this non-sense..

Kannada Movie Fans. Please avoid
12 February 2023
Same old outdated story presentation. - Lead actor "Hero" is going to fight ALL the corruption with his might, excellent IQ and sheer will power.. Unnecessary Punch Dialogues, very slow narration, Cringe dialogues, cringe emotions, cringe intro of main characters, over the top action and overacting through and through.. Some of the scenes where Darshan is being interviewed in the beginning is so fake one cant even start to describe. Never has any human being interviewed in that fashion.

The movie is made for a certain fan-base and would not appeal to anyone else. Looks like the lead actor has political ambitions and he is looking to portray himself as some sort of messiah..

Same Old, Same Old - AVOID
16 October 2022
Movies have been having a sort of trend in the past years and at any given time we will see that a certain kind of movies come out and people also like and appreciate. This movie is made with the lead actor - Jaggesh in mind. All that you can expect from a Jaggesh movie is available here. Unfortunately people have moved on and the actor hasn't. Double meaning dialogues are his forte and that what your find here. Some are cringe worthy.

The movie tries to give a message about inter religious harmony at the core. But the un-necessary double meaning dialogues and double-meaning lyrics in songs keep dragging the movie down. There is no chemistry between the lead pair and it may be due to the obvious real life age factor. Jaggesh could act his age and pick roles that would suit for his age. The comedy seems forced. All in all it was a cringe fest for today's audience.

The movie title has a suffix "Chapter 1", giving you the hint (may be even a warning) that there will be more. I would avoid it, would recommend the same to you.. baaki, nimma samaya.. nimma haNa, nimige bittiddu.. Yenjaai..

What a Visual Treat..
8 October 2022
This movie represents one of the lesser known "Diety - Daiva - Force of nature" worshiping side of the people coastal Karnataka. The story is gripping and fast paced which keeps the audience engaged throughout the movie. The cinematography is spot on which helps people to notice the various aspects of the culture and soak in the vibrance in the nature, dressing and know how's of the region. People who are not from the region or are unaware of the culture would find it a bit hard to follow some parts of the movie. Subtitles are very well done and does deliver the message as intended in Kannada and Tulu. The songs and tunes remain with you after you leave the movie hall as well. Long time since one saw a movie that was so well done and put together.

Waste of time
12 December 2021
Same cringey acting like on Tik Tok with a predictable story.

Wonder who would be wanting to spend time and money on crap like this.

The title and poster are also inspired from mainstream cinema. Overall, this is something that MUST be avoided at all costs.

Gimme my money back Alt Balaji.

Save money. Go to a park and feed the birds there.

This is the kind of non-sense and crap that one has to avoid if you want to encourage movies that matter. Let us get to the basic message that one would get out of this movie. The leading actor is a rogue and looks like hasnt brushed or bathed for weeks.

No story, no acting.. just mindless fighting and unwanted dialogues from a leading man.

The message that is provided is tease women on the streets and run around being a loafer to be accepted and respected by the society.

And not sure what auto fumes the director was smoking to have taken Dhruva as the hero, he looks like an over grown ape with no hair on his body. He cant act, expressions are same everywhere. What did he see in this guy.??

SLOW MOTION EXTRAVAGANZA..
21 October 2020
Why do you have to use Slow Motion so much.? Why cant people stick to the story as much as possible instead of going overboard with EVERYTHING. The terror outfit leader looks like a smalltime crook and on many occasions there is subtle sympathetic tone to the Terrorists and that itself is a NO-NO.. Hence the single star.

You dont need other actors if Only Shaan has to have Screen time
21 October 2020
No effort to use the other actors at all.. Monotonic performance by Shaan as always. Very predictable story.. Direction and Camera Work is horrible.. if properly edited, the film would not be even for an hour.. A half hearted effort to recreate the magic of the original 1982 movie.. The lack of effort is apparent and through out the movie.. Waste of time..

Made for 1980's viewers and not for the 2020's
31 July 2020
Most or all characters are more of a caricature than a re-creation. In many moments Vidya does save the movie, but it is not enough to sit through the entire movie. The view of how the world was when Shakuntala devi was in the UK is very bolly-wised. Check out recordings of Shakuntala devi on Social Media videos and YT, you cannot compare them to the movie.

She was a phenomenon in a world where patriarchy was prevelant. She was bold, outspoken and a vibrant person. While most of this is maintained to some extent, many of the features of the India then or the UK then is very mis-represented.

I went in with an expectation to watch a Biopic of the Mathematician, but this was more of a family drama with un-necessary songs and comedy sequences (some even cringy).

Overall a disappointment... Instead watch Tuhmari Sulu once more..

Unbelievable glimpse into Karnataka's Wildlife
24 March 2020
The trailer when released did exactly what a trailer should do.. make you wait like mad for the full movie, in this case a documentary. Amazing work done by the young gang of nature enthusiasts. And David Attenborough's legendary voice narrating the scenes and occurrences is just a treat for any Nature Documentary lover's ears and eyes. If paused at any shot.. YES ANY SHOT, it would give an amazing wall paper..!! The way wildlife is projected here is like never before. Many places are seen with a new view. To add to all that is mentioned above is the BGM by Ricky Kej, which accentuates the overall video to a totally different level.

Typical movie made for the fans
15 March 2020
Dont Watch this movie if you dont know who the actor is or if you are looking for any kind of logic or sense. The actor is lethargic with is acting and expressions. Looks to be high all the time.. Only highlight was the music.. NOT the songs/lyrics or anything else.. Just the Music. All in all a waste of your time. Rather watch some old kannada movie on Youtube. :)

Tatti film at its best
5 March 2020
Bollywood has to stop thinking of how to make money with NO SCRIPT. With so many though provoking films coming every year but not getting any recognition or acceptance, it is disappointing to see a NO BRAIN, NO SENSE movie like Jai Ho come out and making money for NO REASON. Waste of time more than waste of money.

Excellent Comic Thriller
22 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Positives
  • Most characters were unique and the actors did justice to them. This includes the villains as well as actors will smaller roles
  • The concept is odd and off-beat from what one sees in regular Kannada movies.
  • While the VFX looked a bit tacky, it was still made with lots of details and definitely helped the story line
  • The story was gripping and kept me engaged through the movie. Lot of small things were taken care of like closure of scenes and ending or explaining the back stories etc. Lots of dialogues were used to explain what happens in the future scenes and that was beautifully done.
  • The background music and the song were on point and the songs were mostly a part of the story telling and there was not much un-necessary songs or events.
  • Sets and costumes were up to the mark and better than expected, well suited to the characters and the story-line
  • Loads of Kannada words were used and that I really liked and that there was an effort to avoid English or colloquial terms to re-introduce these Kannada words back to the public

Negatives
  • Subtitles/translations could have done a better job as there were quite a few misses. This would definitely not carry the message of what the character was trying to convey. As a kannadiga, I could follow the Kannada dialogues very well and was able to relate to the quirky comments but when I saw the translations they did not carry the same effect.
  • Inspector Narayana did give a strong resemblance to Cpt Jack Sparrow with his attitude and screen presence and influences from Quentin Tarantino. So that may be something that people might point out and not really enjoy.
  • The length, while was for approx 3 hours there is not really too many boring periods. While that was true, there could have been a bit of better editing and could have brought it down by 20+ mins and still kept it enjoyable

She is ill informed of the comments that she makes
19 February 2020
While many things that she claims here may be her view and opinions, I felt that she was trying to influence people with that to vote against a certain candidate. Her being such a huge star and a celebrity, I'd have preferred for her to be a bit more informed about gender studies before commenting on those topic. So Thats what spoilt it for me
