The Blair Clown Project (1999)
I LOVE IT!
I just came back from seeing "The Blair Clown Project" surrounded by the filmmakers, actors, and friends. The movie was excellent and the running commentary was good as well. I expect to see great things from these guys. I just met them, and I love them already. :) SEE THE MOVIE!
Carmen: A Hip Hopera (2001)
Hmm...
I tend to agree with the two earlier posts. While the opera is well updated, there is something lacking in the script. The music is excellently produced, and while I am not a fan of hip hop, the music does tend to portray the feelings of the characters. I'm pleasantly suprised over the acting, as I find that many musicians can't act nearly as well on screen as they can in their videos. The director did an excellent job, although the sometimes cheesy-ness of the music scenes does take away from the over-all visual feeling of the movie. The colours are vibrant and real, and you feel for the characters at moments, but sometimes yr just as lost as this movie seems to be. However lost it may be though, it would be worth watching if yr bored.. or doing yr homework as I am. I wouldn't be suprised to see Beyonce Knowles do more film work later. :)
SLC Punk! (1998)
I'm In LOVE With This Movie!!!
SLC Punk! has got to be one of the best films I've ever seen! It has inspired a cult following among alot of people that I've run across and while may people have't seen it, when I tell them about it, I know they want to. The story follows Steve-O a blue-haired punk in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1985 and his best friend Heroin Bob (who never used drugs and was afraid of needles). The soundtrack is phenomenal, and so are the costumes, and the cast is exceptional. The over-all attitude of the film is swtiches between light-hearted and heartening. It has plenty of funny moments and fantastic soliquies delievered by Matthew Lillard. The script is witty, and clever and does a good job of representing how alot of punks/anarchists/freaks feel.. I would recommened this movie to anyone... I don't want to tell to much about it because it's a movie to be experienced, but you HAVE to see it.
Eye of the Beholder (1999)
i thought it sucked at first too, but it doesnt.
im a huge fan of ewan macgregor, and ashley judd, and when i saw this movie i thought it sucked. however, a person gave me a copy, and one night, i watched it alone with the sound turned up, in a.. shall we say.. altered mood, and i realized there there was so much more to the story than most poeple think. most people heard the occasional "creepy" voices and understood the basic connection between ashley judd's character and lucky's missing daughter, but it goes so much further. the film shows astonishing depth in dealing with the human character and emotions... most people dont like it because theyd like it to be easier and not so dull, but i like it because it goes far. :)
