The Midnight Gospel: Mouse of Silver (2020)
I am not alive
Maybe the most impactful episode I've ever seen. I've gone back and watched this episode several times throughout the three years that it's been out and every time I take something new out of it. This episode talks about so much in a beautiful conversation between a mother and son. It has such a unique take on all of its themes that span the ideas of love, mental health, death, grief, spirituality and coupled with the visual metaphors, its really astonishing. And even though I wish they would make a second season, this is definitely a perfect send off for the show that I'll treasure for the rest of my life.
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
An Incredibly Unique Experience
Not only is this is this a unique documentary but it also captures the environment of the ocean excellently with some pretty great cinematography. It follows the interesting relationship between this man and octopus in an even more intriguing way that held my attention throughout. I felt that the score was quite standard but used well. The narration was also well used and the pacing is quite good.
I did feel like the last chase scene dragged on for a bit long near the end but that didn't affect my overall viewing too harshly. Anyway, this was a great and unique documentary that can be enjoyed by most.
The Boys: The Big Ride (2020)
Great Start and Setup for The Season
Once again The Boys delivers spectacularly with its writing and execution. It's well-paced, well-acted and well-shot. It handles its characters excellently and, once again, has some very cleverly-told social commentary on the media and society in general. Overall, a very well-directed episode that will surprise and entertain most people.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)
Dumb and Disappointing
There's just so much wrong with this film it makes me kind of mad. There is way too much green screen and CGI making some of it look pretty bad. There's a lot of weird and bad lighting. There's so much stuff that makes no sense at all and is really unintentionally funny. The dialogue's pretty bad for a Middle Earth movie. Way too much unnecessary stuff that drags the movie down so much and really ruins the pacing. Not to mention the pacing is pretty bad also, I found the last 20 - 30 minutes to just be boring. It's really just a disappointing movie that really falls flat. Even the battle isn't great and it's definitely the weakest one in any of these movies. Anyway, it's not terrible as it still has stuff to like about it, obviously, but just bad and not much else.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
An Improvement on The First But Still Very Flawed
I don't have much to say about this movie but overall it's pretty entertaining. There is some really dumb stuff that makes absolutely no sense. There's also, once again, a lot of unnecessary stuff (just to show that this shouldn't have been a trilogy). It's super unfunny and the comedy's really bad. Also, there's some poorly executed scenes in terms of the score, sound design and pacing in general. Not a bad movie at all, still does well in many other departments, but still far from perfect.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
A Little Disappointing But Still Good
This movie is definitely nowhere as good as any of the lord of the rings movie but, nonetheless, it's still a really good film in my opinion. All the visuals aspects are, once again, great, including the cinematography, production design and makeup. It's well acted and the score is also, once again, great but mainly recycled. The action and the action set pieces are pretty amazing.
Anyway, there are still problems too like how the jokes in this movie are pretty bad and in the movie a bit too much. There is also a lot of unnecessary stuff all over the movie which really ruins the pacing. As well as this, I have a few other minor complaints that don't really change my rating of the movie overall. But, apart from this, it's still a well made film and has a lot to love in it.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
One of The Strongest Ends To Any Trilogy Ever
I can say for a fact now that this film basically perfects and improves on every singles flaw that I had with the previous two in the trilogy. Once again, every single element of this film whether it's visual, technical or audio-wise is absolutely brilliant and so well done.
I really can't think of much wrong with this film other than the final battle dragging on for a bit too long. But, at the same time I still think the first movie is the best of the trilogy. Anyway, overall a spectacular film with an amazing climax and ending.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Weakest of The Trilogy But Still Great
Although this movie is the most flawed of the trilogy, it's still great. My issues with this film mainly consist of having more issues with the writing in this film than the first one and the pacing not nearly being as great. I also don't think the dialogue is as good or as memorable as the first movie.
Apart from this, every element of this film is either on par with the first or even better. The CGI is much better in this one and the action and battles are incredible. The makeup, costumes and production design are also even better than the first and add a lot of depth to the environment and characters. This movie is apart of an incredible trilogy and still finds its own way to be an incredible film in its own right.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
The Best Movie in The Best Trilogy Ever
In my opinion, this movie is definitely the best of the trilogy and probably the best fantasy movie ever! It somehow manages to excel on almost every single level. It's characters are all extremely unique and memorable. The dialogue is suitable for each character and also very memorable. The acting is perfect for each character. The film has some of the best world-building in any movie ever. It's makeup, costumes and product design are incredibly detailed and different to each other. It's very well shot and edited. It's score is really good and the CGI is also very good for the time. It is just such an amazing and monumental film.
Although, I did have one problem with the writing, like how the other two Hobbits are mainly only used as plot devices. But, this really doesn't bother me anymore because they have their own arc and do a lot throughout the trilogy which I really like. Anyway, I think this film is absolutely flawless, timeless and deserves all the praise.
Fall Guys (2020)
Broken as Hell, But Lots of Fun
This game has so many bugs and glitches as well as server issues but I just can't get enough of it, personally. Sure some of the levels aren't as good as others, but there are no levels that I'd actually say are boring (apart from the 'Match the Icons!' level). Anyway, this game is really fun overall, even with the issues in mind.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Deserves a second watch
Although this movie isn't as great as Synecdoche, New York on repeated viewings, it certainly is still worth your time for another watch. With the intricate ways that it plays with the continuity of the story, this film has one of the greatest screenplays to this day. It's masterfully directed and contains many expertly used camera tricks to play with reality. It has one of Jim Carrey's best performances in my opinion and definitely an outstanding film that everyone should watch!
Mr. Robot (2015)
The Definition of Underrated
I've already watched this show three times and it still blows me away. Sam Esmail is one of the best TV directors to this day and he really helps keep this show consistent in nearly every department. It somehow manages to implement so many genres in its final season whilst still being exciting, riveting, emotional and surprising.
This show's score by Mac Quale is brilliant and the sound design is fantastic. It's editing is crisp and the acting is on point perfect from every actor. It's visually beautiful, completely unpredictable and near flawless. A True Masterpiece of TV.
Bloodshot (2020)
Vin Diesel is Amazing
This movie's fairly unintentionally hilarious at times. The CGI's obviously good (the fact that it's a standout quality just shows how little there is notable about this movie). Also Vin Diesel grunts and screams a lot. Everything else is awful.
Better Call Saul: Something Unforgivable (2020)
A TV Masterpiece
My personal favourite BCS episode, the tension was higher than ever, incredible cinematography, acting is great as always and characters and plot are amazingly written. It was also extremely unpredictable.
Better Call Saul: Bad Choice Road (2020)
A TV Masterpiece
The slow slow-paced, tense aftermath to the traumatic events of the previous episode. With the first 50 minutes being slow but brilliant pacing as well as exceptional acting, cinematography, makeup, editing and high tension, the last 10 minutes literally left me shaking!
Star Trek (2009)
It's Good
A lot of dumb stuff where, at times, is unintentionally funny or just creates plot holes and no real sense of style other than the damn lenses flares. But, hey, it's just a dumb space movie and it is reasonably entertaining at times with some pretty solid action.
BoJack Horseman (2014)
A Great TV show
After some disappointing first episodes, this TV show really picked up with the last-first-season episodes and definitely surprised me. This TV show is really one of a kind and really got more funny and well written as it went on. The characters had a surprising amount of depth and the animation also just got better and better. Please watch.
Prisoners (2013)
An Amazing Thriller
With its amazing acting, intense scenes, great writing, direction, editing, characters and incredible cinematography this movie ends up to be a great thriller. Although some character motivations feel untouched upon, this movie really holds up!
Breaking Bad (2008)
A TV Masterpiece
Honestly I can't praise this show enough, every single thing about this show is amazing. The acting, screenplay, cinematography, directing, score, soundtrack, dialogue, set design, costume design, editing, makeup, art direction, visual effects, sound effects. Literally everything is phenomenal! The best show on TV.
Better Call Saul: Wexler v. Goodman (2020)
An amazing episode
Best of this season so far! Cinematography, writing and acting are all on point.
