False Identity (1990)
Who has seen it?
It's a curio! Who has seen it? I got it in a video store sale... and bought it because it starred Geneviève Bujold, a Montrealer just like me. Thought it would be good. But it is NOT! And it is not even bad! Because if it was bad it could become some kind of a cult movie. But a movie who is just not good... what do you do with this?!! The plot is complicated and not easy to follow... and I saw it dubbed in French!!! The acting is good (I mean, Bujold and Stacy Keach... not the others... Veronica Cartwright as an alcoholic spouse over acts...) The lighting is awful... and it is not even listed in Leonard Maltin's video movies bible... So... Tant pis!
Un giorno nella vita (1946)
Unforgettable ending.
Saw this movie on TV a long time ago. I will never forget it. Specially the ending. It was so unexpected. So touching. So frightening. It hits you right in the solar plexus. And stays with you for always. I guess I can say this without spoiling anything since I am NOT telling what happens. Of course, I wouldn't. It must have been based on a true event in Italy during the Second World War. The acting is superb. Specially by Elisa Cegani and Mariella Lotti. If you have a chance to see it somewhere, don't miss it! It is worth seeing it. Even if it has been made 62 years ago, you'll be able to agree with me and enjoy a great story.
C.R.A.Z.Y. (2005)
To see it is to love it!
Was watching something else on TV when a friend of mine phoned to tell me to watch it. That I shouldn't miss it at all. So reluctantly I changed the channel and started to see it... after 10 minutes of showing! I just couldn't stop watching it. At the end, yes, tears were there. Comments here are just great. So IS the movie. Am going to see it again when I will be able to. What I liked most is the extraordinary vérité of the different styles in clothing with years going by... It is so TRUE and believable... In accordance with the characters and their evolution.. Never have I seen in movies such a truer detail in the story-telling... The acting is great, specially Marc-André Grondin as Zac... Here is a very difficult part to play... And he does a magnificent job! The hairstyles too are in accordance with the years passing by... It reminds you what was exactly the period time when it was so popular... Patsy Cline music is so appropriate to the story. It CANNOT be changed!.. She surely would have been proud with what the director did with it... The story is moving. Deeply moving. With Time, this movie is going to become a cult movie... I'm sure... To see it is to love it! It's my turn, now, to say don't miss it!
