Maseukeugeol (2023)
Starts off very well, becomes stale and they throw it off the window 6/10
Being a fan of K-drama and revenge stories this show had me interested from the beginning! It seemed as though they got it right with some interesting twists along the way. Then, halfway through, the writing started to look lazy and clinging to all the clichés. On top of that, the show started to drag itself with some "plot" being added that was completely superfluous to the end game. Not to spoil anything but the way they made it about a silly everlasting, tougher, holier than thou character and her search for the ultimate revenge... (Whilst becoming an expert with guns, crime, bribes, etc... Some kind of supper granny of evil...) Well, let's just say the potential was huge. It started off nicely and it could've been one of the most interesting recent shows with a not so subtle criticism of social/beauty standards in South Korea. But it became stale and cursed with poor writing and trying to "surprise" you, when in fact it became so predictable. Worth it up to episode 4 or so. It won't hurt to watch the entire show. But if you're picky, best skip this one, some other shows out there are more worthy of your time.
Frágiles (2005)
One of the best non-Asian horror/thriller movies!
At last! A very good horror/thriller movie that isn't Asian. Most recent titles in Europe and USA have been quite disappointing. People get tired of failed remakes (The grudge & The ring series). The originals are the real deal. But with Fragile it's different.
The movie has a very nice mood, which is a result of various factors merged perfectly to create the right ambiance. The building itself, old and making all sorts of weird noises, the music, scary enough, the dark sceneries, the vast emptiness, the solitude. Also the movie isn't the typical "spooky" genre... constantly trying to scare you enough so that you'll jump off your chair and scream like a girl... resulting in predictable moments. This one sets you in the right mood and gives you that strange feeling "i don't wanna look into the dark" afraid of what may be coming out of there. The plot itself isn't very complex and nothing new to the sort, but it is well put together so you won't be disappointed with it.
Very soft, yet gripping, and very atmospheric, which is in fact it's major strength, Fragile is one I really recommend. Specially to watch during the night.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
Just average
I must say Will Ferrell has been disappointing me in his latest movies. I've always seen him as a good comediant but the movies he involves himself in... *sigh*
Talladega nights is a perfectly average comedy. It has only a couple very funny moments. What's really good about it is the satire behind the hole movie, portraying and making fun of not only Nascar but also a wide group of Americans that fit in "that" stereotype. The dialogues are silly enough to be funny but the real comedy moments are scarce. It pretty much resumes to the same after a while and you keep expecting for a moment of genius that won't make you stop laughing. It's entertaining, but as a comedy I think it's just average. I do prefer to look at the 'satire/portrait of a stereotyped environment/community' side of it, giving the writers and director credit for it.
I think Will Ferrell can do a lot better and I really hope he finds the right movie for him to finally achieve recognition.
