Knocked Up (2007)
Can't Believe All the Hate
I saw Knocked Up in a super-crowded theater. I laughed a lot, and hard. I'm not a sucker for corny stupid comedies. Katherine Heigl is gorgeous in the film and does a great job. Seth Rogen is hilarious as a poor, fat, ugly dude who knocks up a sexy drunk girl. Also funny, were Ben's friends. I found most of the jokes to be pretty witty. yeah, it's raunchy, but its fun.
Sure, the premise isn't too original and Knocked Up won't win any awards for screenplays, but it was a fun funny movie, and that's good enough for me. It's not nearly as bad as all the reviews I've just read on here. Come on people.
Earthstorm (2006)
Nice Try, But Really a Bad Movie
I've always enjoyed movies that deal with the Earth/ Space relation ship ie. "Armageddon," "Deep Impact," and "Red Planet." I stumbled upon "Earthstorm" at my local RedBox. I wasn't expecting much from a movie I hadn't heard of before or from a cast where Stephen Baldwin is the only recognizable name. Straight up, this is not a good movie. The premise is decent, but the plot execution and the dialog is terrible. Special effects were also horrible. They must've used so generic CGI, because nothing looks very realistic. I won't even talk about the whole "A.S.I." and errors in the movie. I only paid $1 for it, so Earthstorm was decent bang for the buck. The best thing about the movie is hottie Anna Silk, she's gorgeous!
The Fountain (2006)
Visually stunning, but story lacks some depth
When I first saw the trailer for The Fountain, I was very eager to watch. Being a fan of both Hugh Jackman and Rachel Wies I knew that I'd be in for a great movie. The plot seemed very interesting and the director has a history of great work.
The first few minutes of the movie are a bit perplexing. I kept thinking to myself, "What is going on?" As the film progresses, one catches the intertwined stories. The film had the potential to be more. The Fountain is visually stunning. The transitions are fairly smooth between the different stories, and sometimes even seamless. I would've preferred the movie to take more of the sci-fi route. The whole idea behind the myth of the tree is very intriguing, but is never dealt with in much detail.
This film definitely leaves its audience asking questions. The Fountain is a different kind of film, but it was worth watching.
