Netflix have just become nostalgia merchents for Millennials...
25 February 2024
Avatar as a really strong connection to my childhood (I'm a 90s baby and grew up as a kid in the 2000s). So when Netflix announced a live action adaptation I wasn't quite sure what to think. The special effects are not the best and it does hinder emersion. The comedy also does not land nearly the same as it did to it's animated counterpart. The fight scenes are decent but once again, they can't hold a candle to the original source material. It's hard to watch the live action adaptation and not compare it to the animated series. Netflix tries to pull the nostalgia of millennials to get more viewership, so this practice will not stop anytime soon...

Movie had no right being this good
7 January 2023
There was a lot of hype surrounding this film, so I had a feeling that it was going to be a good movie, but I had no idea that the movie was going to be THIS good. I walked out of the movie theater pleasently surprised. The film has amazing animation, a great pot, but above all the characters really carry this film. Puss in Boots, the side characters, and the villains are amazing in this film. And a special shout out to the voice actors is in order because the voice acting in this film was simply amazing. I would highly recommend watching this film, it's great for people of all ages. Great work dreamworks!

Welcome to Wrexham (2022– )

Early days but I'm loving it this far
25 August 2022
I know it's early but I can't stress enough how pleasantly surprised I am at how good this documentary is thus far. The tone of the documentary is set from the very beginning, you all may think that just because the football club is owned by individuals like Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney that the documentary will have a silly tone, don't get me wrong it has it's silly moments but they're few and far between. The seriousness of the situation is really driven home by the documentary. I can't wait to see more!

Reality Check
25 August 2022
The title of the episode is self explanatory. We see the reality of being a struggling football club teetering on the verge of promotion, stakes are high for many individuals involved, particularly the manager and the players who rely on the sport to make a living wage and support their families. Great stuff from the second episode with a particularly serious tone.

Great first episode
25 August 2022
This episode really drove home the sentiment of sport being more that "just a game," especially as it pertains to a city like Wrexham, where the city is brought together by their football club. The first episode really set the tone of what the documentary is going to be like. Pleasantly surprised to say the least.

Better Call Saul: Saul Gone (2022)

Truly an end of an Era
16 August 2022
Wow, where to begin. I have to start off with a huge thanks to all of the cast and crew for giving us this series. This series finale was written beautifully, I honestly think it's the perfect conclusion not only to Better Call Saul, but to the Breaking Bad Universe as a whole. The Breaking Bad Universe will go down as one of THE greatest pieces of fiction ever written, and Better Call Saul adds to that legend. Thank you Vince Gilligan, Bob Odenkirk, Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Mando, Jonathan Banks, and everyone else involved in this amazing project, you all truly created a masterpiece that will never be forgotten.

Not for the faint of heart
26 June 2022
This is a warning, this episode is NOT for the faint of heart. There is a ton going on in the episode but the episode was nothing short of brilliant. This cast continues to deliver on their incredible performances, especially Anthony Starr as Homelander, he's definitely made the role his own. At this point Homelander is easily a top 10 villian not just in television, but i'd go as far as a top 10 villian in fiction. This episode showed audiences that Homelander just isn't an "evil Superman." In reality his character has a lot of nuance.

Loki (2021–2023)

Overrated
17 May 2022
After watching Loki I was not sure why it recieved so much hype. In my opinion the show was bang average. Don't get me wrong it had some funny moments, especially towards the end of the show. But the show is real mess. Nothing about this show really stands out to me a being "great" as some people are suggesting. I believe that people's love of the character of Loki is blinding a lot of people when it comes to reviewing the show, it's good but certainly not great.

Black Widow (2021)
5/10
Perhaps the worst MCU film to date
17 May 2022
Where do I even begin with this one. My main takeaway from the film is that it was really boring. This may have been one of the only MCU films (along side with the first two Thor films) where I nearly fell asleep. Another bad thing about this film is the CGI, and the crazy part is that a film like Black Widow (a film much more grounded in reality than 99% of the rest of the MCU films) does not require that much CGI. I would definitely skip this film if you're watching a marathon of MCU films.

I love Sam Rami but man was this film dissapointing
17 May 2022
Starting off with the positives here, the special effects in this film are second to none. Some of the scenes in the film were genuinely amazing, especially those involving the scarlet which going on a rampage (don't worry I won't go into detail in this review). But aside from the visuals and some genuinely great scenes the movie fall extremely short of expectations. The plot in the film is extremely weak, and the introduction of America Chavez was really underwhelming, she isn't a compelling character in the slightest, nothing against the actress, but the character herself just isn't good. All in all, the effects and a few stand-out scenes aside the film was underwhelming with plot and the character of America Chavez being the main issues.

Moon Knight (2022)

Decent but not great
17 May 2022
Let me start with the positives here. Oscar Isaac is really good in the role. The main character has multiple personalities and Issac's acting chops really shine here. But aside from Issac's acting there isn't much else great about this show. The main villain is extremely underwhelming, and if I'm being honest the climax just didn't do it for me. I will say that episode 5 if the show was definitely a stand-out and really enjoyable, but every other episode was mid to say the least.

The relatively low ratings are wrong
20 March 2022
This is was easily one of the better episodes on the series. And yes it was extremely sad. I'm not understanding some of the other reviews I'm seeing on here saying that this episode feels out of place in The Boys universe, it's almost as if ppl want to really believe that the live action show doesnt have it's fair share of sad moments. This was a great episode, extremely emotional, great animation and storytelling. This one is a 10/10 in my book.

Greatest film I've ever seen.
21 February 2022
If you're a fan of thrillers that make you sit in the edge of your seat than this is the film for you. Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal are amazing in this film. Extremely tense, and a nail-biting experience is a phrase I would use to sum up this amazing film, would highly recommend watching this film!

Peacemaker (2022– )

James Gunn simply does not miss.
21 February 2022
Season 1 just came to a close and I must admit, I am thoroughly impressed with what James Gunn and his team have produced here. Let me just start off by saying that this show is on the level of other live-action comic/superhero shows like Daredevil and The Boys. Let's start off with the comedy, I don't believe I've luaghed so much during a superhero show like this before, John Cena was the perfect casting choose for a character like Peacemaker, but it's not just John Cena, it's the entire main cast, they have amazing chemistry and are hilarious together. The action and fight scenes are also amazing as well, choreography, special effect, and diaglog are simply on point. I'm shocked that the show is as great as it is. I would highly recommend watching this show.

Euphoria (2019– )

It has its good moments, but a ton of bad ones.
21 February 2022
Let me start this review off by saying that this show has its good moments, I'm personally a really big fan of the scenes involving Fezco and and his younger brother Ashtray, they are very tense scenes that remind me of a thriller. But everything else is pretty much unbarebale to watch. The scenes with Zendaya's character (Rue) and her friend Jules really slow down the pace of the show (and I must reiterate that it slows the show down A LOT). Pacing is a huge issue, not to mention that a lot in this show is extremely outlandish, yes this is a work of fiction, but you can tell that the directors and producers were aiming for realism when writing this script. This show has a ton of cringe-worthy scenes, perhaps not as bad as a show like riverdale but it's still up there. This show is a hard-pass from me.

A fitting ending for a great run of movies
8 November 2021
This review will contain no spoilers but this film ended the Craig franchise perfectly. The movie contains amazing visuals, great action as usual, a lot of thrilling moments, drama, and a classic bond soundtrack. Definitely one of the best Bond films ever.

The only reason for getting disney plus
1 January 2020
The Mandalorian is an amazing show. The main character "Mando" is someone that we root for and the introduction of baby yoda elevated the show even further. The special effects are also amazing for something on the silver screen. And the finale of the 1st season will leave the audience wanting for more.
