The OA (2016)
Slow, with unbelievable plot circumstances
I wanted to like this, but it was terrible. I have no idea why the ratings are so high. I gave it two stars instead of one because of the uniqueness. I'm only pointing out the obvious flaws in the first three episodes I managed to get through...First, the name OA doesn't fit the main character at all. She's more like an Original Victim than an Original Angel, but either way the nickname and title are stupid. Second, the group Prairie forms would never come to pass. A teacher amongst a group of random students meeting at midnight, and with no clear objective? Not a chance. Furthermore, while she's telling her life story over several midnight meetings, there is no way at least one person would think she's not crazy or lying, but they all go back and just sit there listening...She's not an especially charismatic or compelling storyteller either. I also didn't like the early interactions between Prairie and the people she's trapped with, especially Homer. They skipped the 'getting to know each other' portion of normal, human discourse and jump right to him giving her orders in one form or another.
Chronicle of a Serial Killer (2020)
Not bad overall, but...
The movie would have been better if the serial killer was more of the cunning, diabolical, Bundy-type, instead of the babbling buffoon the one in the movie is.
